CHAPTER 6: THE EPIC INTERVIEW
"WE MEET PEOPLE EVERY NOW AND THEN. SOME JUST WALK AWAY WHILE SOME LEAVE A WIERD AND DEEP IMPRESSION IN OUR MINDS. WELL SOME PEOPLE EVEN MAKE AN IMPACT ON OUR HEARTS TOO. WE JUST NEED TO UNDERSTAND AND CHALK OUT AS TO WHO ACTUALLY MADE THAT DEEP IMPRESSION ON OUR HEARTS".
The day the chawl people declare a war against the rich especially the Kapoors, the very same day Kalpi had her placement interview. Pakhi approached her with best wishes and left the place. Here Kalpi prepares her for the interview while on the other hand Pakhi discusses about her accident with her friends. Just then a car stopped at the college entrance. Everybody turned their attention towards the gate. A man in three piece suit, absolutely dashing, stepped out. His mere presence made all the girls go short of breath while the guys felt jealous. Pakhi being a maniac, jumps inwardly as it was the guy who saved her the other day. She thought he came to meet her but to her dismay he was there for the campus placements. At an instant she decided to appear for the interview.
When Pakhi stood in the line of interview it shoked Kalpi and she could'nt help but ask her "Tu yahan kya kar rahi hai Pakhi? Tujhe iss naukri ki kya zaroorat tere paas toh apna family buisness hai na?" Pakhi cheerfully replied "Socha ek baar try kar ke dekh loon", Kalpi sighed. They were the last candidates and so both were called in together. Raghav motioned them to sit. He first went through Pakhi's profile and asked her the reason for applying for such a small post "Kapoor empire ki princess mere yahan ek choti si naukri kyun karna chahati hai?" When Pakhi gave her asnwer to his question he shut the file and started on with Kalpana. "Kalpana Vitthal Jadav, Pita ka naam- Vitthal Jadav- ek maamuli masdoor, Maa ka naam- Kamla Jadav- kaam waali baai , aaya. Tumne 10th mein 95%, 12th mein 89%, state topper, graduation first and second year, university mein topper..god its so boring. (Well to be very honest he was reading the whole profile with awe and read it aloud just confirm himself that he was not hallucinating)". This tuned Kalpi's bright face into a confused one. Raghav saw the change in expressions and decided to play a little "Well mera coffee peene ka mann kar raha hai. Kaun banayega Kalpana Jadav.?" Now her anger knew no bounds and she replied angrily "Haan haan aapko toh yehi lagta hoga ki ek baai ki beti coffee hi bana sakti hai kyun hain na? Lekin mujhmein kaabiliyat hai kuch bada karne ki". Raghav was a bit taken aback with that outburst. He expected her to lose her cool but not this way. He thought " Ladaku kahin ki. Abhi bhi vaisi hi hai. Zara sa kuch boldo aur boom phat gaya bomb. Par gusse mein kitni cute lagti hai..Kya? Main kya soch raha hoon?"😉 He literally smacked himself (not physically ) and was brought out of his thoughts when Pakhi offered to make the coffee. Meanwhile Raghav noticed a fuming Kalpi and decided to irk her more. But how was the question. Just then Kalpi got a call from Pakya informing about the notice and the protest. Kalpi became worried and asked permission to leave. Thus Raghav got his chance to irk her "Coffee Pakhi bana rahi hai aur vaise bhi maine tumhe mauka diya tha par lagta hai ki tumhe khud ko prove karne se darr lagta hai. Tum jaa sakti ho Kalpana Jadav". She wanted to reply him back but decided against it. She took her profile and with a humph left the room but not before shooting a tough glare towards Raghav. Raghav noticed this and almost chocked on his coffee. He wanted to laugh out loud but Pakhi's presence was not helping it much o his irritation. He smiled and thought "Thank god phone aagaya varna aaj toh yeh jungli billi mujhe apne panje (claws) ke darshan karwa hi deti". Pakhi was busy drooling to notice anything and asked "Aapko toh mera naam janne ka mauka mil gaya aur aap jaan bhi gaye ab mujhe bhi toh apna naam bata dijiye". Raghav looked at her and said "Sir. Jab mere yahan naukri pe lag jaogi tab yehi kehe kar mujhe bulaogi." Pakhi excitedly asked "Toh mujhe job mil gayi?" Raghav was getting irritated and said "Exam ke results aane abhi baaki hain?" Before Pakhi could open he mouth to say anything further Raghav barked at her to leave "Coffee de di na ab jao yah se, GET LOST".😡😡 The sudden change in voice made Pakhi literally jump out of the room. "Uff... ache khaase mood ka satyanaash kar diya is Tantum Kapoor ne"😡😡 Raghav just made an irritated face.
Here in the auto Kalpi to was frustrated with the interviewer "Samajhtey kya hain khud ko? Buisness man hain toh kya kuch bhi karenge. Badtameez insaan. Khadoos kahin ka. Mera bas chale toh coffee ki jagah unhe hi cup mein daal doon."
Thus what do we call this- an interview? or a faceoff? or first meeting?. Well what can these two poor and confused souls do when destiny has other plans for them.😉
