Sleepless Nights
It was becoming difficult for Raghav to face Kalpi . He could not resist but to stare at the cctv screen seeing her immersed in her work. her hands either on keyboard or on files.
This has to stop anyways.He could not let go of his shell and walls he had worked so hard to built in these long lonely years .He felt comfortable and cozy in it. But suddenly he had an intruder in his fort.
Kalpi was the same little girl whom he had met on his short stay at Kapoors in his childhood. Child ! yes she was a child but not he. He was sixteen then and now after fifteen years ,he could see her grown up into smart , intelligent girl. Her dusky skin and mesmerizing large eyes were still the same .She was a dark beauty and weightless for sure .He could not remember if she really weighted when he carried her out of that dangerous lake she had thrown herself just to prove herself more intelligent then him.
'Seems like u r liking that cctv screen a lot ', his chain of thoughts were broken by Sammy ,his friend and confidante.
But Raghav did not want to confine his secret regarding Kalpi to him.
No , Never!
He changed the screen . He was not feeling well.He had temperature since morning.Still he came to office just to sign some important files so that nobody disturbed him at home . He wanted to be at home now and rest.Just away from people .People who should never discover his vulnerability towards a girl named Kalpi.

Kalpi sat at her table muddling with files and excel sheets.She needed to prove herself and had just fifteen days left.She was doing great as well.Her work was her life till now. But since few days ,she has been disturbed by strange feelings that she had felt for Raghav. She worked under him ,he was her boss but only since fifteen days.Before it he was always her saving angel.His ways were rough but it always ended up giving her a soft touch of care. She has seen Raghav in strongest and weakest phase of life.
She had seen him as an intelligent big thing who would prove her innocent .A rude benefactor who would pay the bills and never wait for thanks. A man who would discouragingly encourage her to fight for her rights.Yet she had seen him open up his heart for her and cuddle in her lap like a child in pain.She had seen all his shades be it innocent, rude or shrewd. He was an interesting person for sure.
Today when she saw him . He was flustered . Yet he was quit calm with Paaki and and did not seem irritated when her conversations meandered from official talk to the indirect invitation for date.Paaki had come to her babbling with joy that raghav actually accepted her offer for a Coffee Date next week .But then she said he seemed sick and tired.
She had inquisitively peeped through the glass walls of his cabin to see him and realised Paaki was right.He had been working hard on his present project and did not take the bed rest , he had been advised after the dangerous infection he had caught recently. She knew if he wanted to work he would work and would listen to nobody .
Raghav saw her through the door . He knew what was going on in her mind. Things did change between them since that night. Now he could even listen to her silence and feel her warmth just by looking at her.She did want to be with him and embrace him .He knew how she would lock him safely in her arms . He could see the concern in her large eyes, and inkling in her hands which scrambled the papers.
He just needed to be away from her .No he did not want to break in her arms like a lost puppy.He could take care of himself and he was not that weak now.
He could feel Kalpis eyes straight into himself.
'Stop looking at me like that' ,he wanted to scream out and say .
He left the office.
He had his pills and flopped in his bed and expected an instant sleep.

Kalpi had the sleepless night. She wanted to talk to Raghav.It was not that she did not talk to him.But today she just want to ask him to rest and to take care of himself.She knew he wont care to even listen what she said.But she did want to hear him say I am fine ., even if he lied which he would sure do
After twisting and turning for half an hour at last she decided to call .She grabbed her mobile to dial his number but then she saw the watch .It was one o' clock night! Not at all a time to ask the health of a man who happened to be your boss and always emphasized it as well.
She stared at her mobile and then flopped in bed ,its better she tries to sleep. Raghav was alright ,she consoled herself.

The pills did give him the sleep but just for an hour .He woke up sweating.His fever was gone but his body ached.He reached for the glass of water.He desperately wanted to be fine by morning .He had important meetings lined up and he did not want to cancel any.
He tried to sleep as he stared at the ceiling soon thoughts of Kalpi filled his mind. He remembered her concerned face.She had come to his cabin too.Though she had stopped by the door and he knew why.he had been rude to her ever since she dared to be caring .His arrogance was his only guard against the deeper feelings creeping inside him. Her livid face kept flashing in his mind as he twirled in his bed .
How much he wanted to be in her lap like that night .
he just wanted to hear her voice speak and ask if he was fine. He dialed her number, his mind going dizzy with her thoughts .
He cut the call and threw the cell phone , the moment he heard the first ring
'What the hell am i doing?', he cried aloud 'this girl is making me loose my mind.' he clutched his head which reeled with sudden pain.

Kalpi knew it was going to her another sleepless night thanks to Raghav ,her next pass time after her work ! She felt something vibrating , it was her cell phone and then it stopped. She was surprised , who would call her at such time. She looked at the number.
It was Raghav's number
She clutched the phone hard and redialed the number.
Raghav was surprised to hear his cell phone and realised his mistake when he saw the Kalpis number flashing out.
He could not resist to hear her voic. He recieved the call .
'Sir r u fine. ', came her soft voice, like a soothing breeze.
He said nothing
Kalpi could hear his deep breath. He seemed calm.She could feel it in his breath and in his silence.She took a sigh of relief.
It did feel good to Raghav .He did hear her sigh of relief.
'I know Sir u will be fine in the morning . But please, Sir take rest please,u need it.'
Raghav cut the call and Kalpi smiled .She knew next morning she will get her arrogant Boss back, blaring and glaring .
But sleep still seemed nowhere around..
Kamla saw her daughter twisting and turning in bed.She heard her talk to somebody on phone and it worried her. Whom would her daughter talk at such mid night.
She came to Kalpi and asked 'Kalpi beta r u alright '.
Kalpi grabbed her mother and emerged her face in her lap
'Aayi i just cant sleep ,now i worry for Raghav so much, she sobbed
'u know aayi after that night, i always think if raghav is alright.Today he was sick and look i just could not sleep.And when i called him if he was fine, he did not even answer me and disconnected the phone .'
Kamla knew what her daughter was going through . She knew Kalpi had been with Raghav in his weakest moment and now her daughter felt like caring him for everything .
Kamla took Kalpis face in her hands and explained , 'Beta u have seen and tended Raghav in his most painful time, u have seen his pain , u have seen a real lonely Raghav behind his self created walls and that why u feel so much of him. '
She hugged Kalpi ' my child u r connected to Raghav by his pain u shared that night '.
By this consolation Kalpi slept peacefully in her mothers lap.
But now Kamla had sleepless night.
She prayed 'Bappa , whats happening to my daughter .Why r u doing this to her? Where is this all leading to. What if this deep rooted care for Raghav turns into love ?
