Maanvi do you remember the first time when I first came to your house. It was your birthday party.' he asked as he held her hand and they both walked over to the docks. She blushed. Her heart was racing and her face flustered at his touch. When he first took her hard, it felt natural as her small hand moulded around his strong hand, clutching it tightly. It was too dark for the time. Around 8pm yet the dark sky bore no life. Few beaming stars were scattered in the sky. In the centre lay a bright moon overlooking the dark sea.
'I think we were 10 or 11. We didn't like eachother did we.', she laughed softly. 'You cut my birthday cake!'
she gasped at the sudden thought.
Her mind flashbacked to an event 10 years ago, she dimly remembered. It was her 10th Birthday party and she had ordered her family to hold a birthday party for her and invite bunch of people as she wanted loads of presents. She had prepared a suprise dance for the party and perfected it few days before the party. She was really excited to show everyone her dance moves. Her family ordered her special cake as she wasn't fond of a chocolate cake and insisted that the cake had no cream. 'I want an almond or carrot cake', she whined a few days before her party and her wish had been granted. Her family laughed at her choices in life and said she was always the odd one out. Spoiled as she was, she loved her family. On the day of her birthday party, she saw a curious boy same age as her, sitting with his parents and yawning in her performance, which made her furious. On top of that, she saw him walking towards her cake from the distance. It was sitting on a corner side table and her eyes grew wide and her jaw dropped at what happened next. The boy cut the cake and ate it.
Oh yeh, I remember that. Never seen a girl cry so much over a birthday cake',
he laughed as they sat down on the edge of the docks. He didn't let go of her hand as held it tightly.
'Heyyy, I had reasons. You just don't cut a 10 year old girl's birthday cake before her! There are rules!'
she shot back, smiling at how they were. She bit her bottom lip as she noticed that he wasn't letting go of her hand and held it protectively.
'I'm sorry. I remember seeing this cake and I wanted a slice but Dad told me to wait and I kept waiting the night for the cake so decided to take matters into my own hand'
, he said, amused and ran his other hand through his hair.
That experience scared me for life',
she replied, gasping at his behaviour.
' If you think about it it's kind of funny',
Virat replied, grinning, while Maanvi scrunched up her nose and shaked her head in disappointment.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Shouldn't have the fireworks started by now',
she looked at him, confused. She adjusted the jacket she was wearing, feeling the breeze.
'Hmm, think they are running late'
, he replied, looking down at his watch.
'So enlighten me on your life',
she said rapidly.
'Like what?',
he asked, confused.
'Like what's going on',
she replied.
'You know what happens in my life',
he said, unsure of what she was asking him cause he always told her everything.
'A new girl in your life then?,
she asked hestitantly.
Virat smiled.
'So there is a girl then? Do you like her? What's her name?',
she asked rapidly, part of her was sure he meant her but she was waiting anxiously for him to confirm her thought and another part was cursing whoever it was if it she wasn't her.
'I can't remember who I like when I tell you I like someone ',
he said, smugly.
'Huh',
she replied confusedly, completely lost in his words.
'Do you get what I mean?',
he asked, smirking.
'No',
she answered
'Then no, I don't like anyone',
he shrugged, letting go of her hand and pulling his phone out of his pocket.
Maanvi opened her mouth to say something back but was silenced by the dazzling of colours in the sky.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'It was so easy to make her happy',
he thought as he watched Maanvi's face in amazement as she 'ohh-ed' and 'ahh-ed' at the vibrant fireworks in the pitch black sky. The sky light up with swirls of colours mirroring onto the black sea. She was delighted. As the cool breeze swirled around, swaying her hair to her face. He hadn't taken his gaze away from her as he noticed a strand of hair falling on her cheek. His hand went up brush away the hair on her face as she shuddered at the touch and turned to face him in confusion. He looked in her glazed eyes, bright and excited. He wanted to say something. Anything. 'Why can't I say something? I act like the most confident person but infront of her, I always chicken out', he wondered. 'Her eyes had something. They always spoke volumes'. She, on the other hand waited for him to say something. Anything. Her eyes encouraged his eyes to speak as she waited impatiently.
There was a moment of silent as they sat there and the fireworks fainted in the background. The breeze loosing its strength. The water twinkling in the dark hours of the evening as it swayed continuously.
'Maanvi',
he said, moving his hand to hold on to hers. He held it softly by his side. 'I have been meaning to tell you something', he added. Unsure of where to begin.
' I like you',
he said in one breath, like a shot of breath. After what felt like a lifetime he added, 'I have always had feelings for you. I think you know that. I didn't know how to say anything cause-
He looked down and sighed.
' That doesn't matter does it',
he looked up to gaze into her excited eyes. Her eyes gave him extra courage as he continued. 'You know how possessive I can be with you and - oh I should be talking about my good points right now right?', he admited to himself, bitting his tongue, which made Maanvi smile. 'Do you feel the same way about me?', he asked.
Her mouth stretched open to a wide smile. Her emotions all over the place. She was happy to know he felt the same she felt about him. She had never emotions so strong for anyone but him. He made her smile, laugh, angry and she confined her secrets with him. If he was upset, her day went downhill. If he was happy, he unintentionally made her day.
'Say something?',
he pleaded softly, feeling uncomfortable with not hearing her voice. He knew that she felt that same. If she didn't, he would probably be feeling aftermaths of a slap on his cheek right now. 'If you want to say no then I was joking with everything', he added.
She was ready to say something but watching him anxious for the first time made her smile. Her heart in her mouth, her breathing unsteady. Her hands automatically scrunched up a piece of her saree as she looks bewildered. She looked in his eyes, hoping he can read them aswell as she read his. ' You know I like you', she thought.
'Virat I-
Virat smiled and which made her stop as she got lost in what she was going to say.
'You know I like you',
she said quietly. Looking down to her saree to escape his piercing gaze which was making her dizzy. He grinned.
The next moment he had cupped her face as pulled her gently towards him as she looked up at him confused and kissed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Virat?
she asked, leaning on his shoulder watching the moon shine brightly in the dark sky. The cool breeze has steadied and was blowing lightly.
'Hmm',
he replied, caressing her hand.
How is this going to work?,
she asked.
Well you know... we go out to places, you tell me you like me and I tell you I like you more then we aruge and in the end we kiss and makeup and do other stuff maybe',
he replied, smirking.
Virat?,
she whined and pulled away from him, playfully hitting him on his chest.
Virat laughed and winked.
'This relationship',
she said, 'You live here and I live in the UK. Long distance relationship?', she added, staring at him, confused.
'Maanvi',
he replied softly, pulling her near him, ' we will make it work. I don't want to be with anyone but you and do you want to be with anyone else?, he asked and she shaked her head in denial. 'Well then that's settled'.
'And what if our parents found out?'
she looked up to him, pouting her lips.
'They will find out when we decide to tell them',
he said picking up her hand and kissing it making her smile and her heart racing as she forgot about everything and just noticed them together, actually together. She was happy. Really happy as everything fell into place.
