In Ek Hasina Thi, Durga is confident that her decision of replacing Shaurya with Dev as the chief Architect in the Cancer Project will lead to Goenka's downfall. Sakshi takes Shaurya's case for his foolishness of confessing about his fake degree certificate to Durga. Shaurya is shocked to know that Dev is now the chief Architect of the project. Durga finds out that the person who sourced RTI files of the rape case was none other than Dev's best friend's wife Sonali. She decides to employ a new startegy to handle Dev. Dev agrees to become a part of the project as it will give him an opportunity to be closer to Durga and reach Nitya's diary.

Rajnath manipulatively proposes the Chief architect offer to Dev and accepts the offer as he would get to know Durga much better.Shaurya is informed that Dev has sourced Payal's case file by filing an RTI application. Dev presents the cancer project meeting where he is appreciated by Durga and Dayal which envies Sharya and Sakshi.Post the meeting, Dev goes to drop Durga and on the way he gets into flash remembering Nitya and Durga remembers him as someone who ditched her and Payal.. Durga shows her house to Dev but Dev is looking for an opportunity to search for Nitya's diary in the house. Durga gets a call when Dev is searching for the diary in Durga's room. She comes back and notices Dev searching her room and fears the diary being noticed by Dev. She uses her presence of mind and saves the diary from being noticed.
