Chapter 10
Hey everyone, welcome to ShraMan's wedding. I tried my best to be accurate in depicting the wedding rituals, but please ignore and forgive if I did go wrong anywhere. I was shooting questions to friends for the steps of the wedding. Thanks Dips & Debbie. I really hope you guys like it as everyone was excited for the Wedding. So when did this all started Sumo!!! Tell us all about it, said Anjali. "Tum done to bade chupe rustum nikle, pata bhi nahi chalne diya".
You fight so much in front of others and love each other when you are alone, teased Poorna.
Suman could only smile thinking about how silly they've been. Before she could even say anything, Preeti started "I'll tell you everything about them". She told them how they both loved each other since their childhood.
As Preeti was narrating Anjali and Poorna their story, Suman was lost in all the memories she had with Shravan, as if her whole life flashed in front of her. Then came the sound of the Baraat, the closer the baraat was getting the harder her heart was beating with anticipation.
Poorna, Anjali and Preeti asked Suman to join to go see the baraat from upstairs but she told them to go ahead.
Suman held her parents's picture frame and hugged it before her eyes landed on the other picture frame which had Shravan with her. She picked it up and looked herself in the mirror thinking what would her life be if Shravan was not in there. Her heart knew the answer "Nothing"... Since she remembered Shravan was in some way or the other the pillar of her existence after Nanu. She just smiled at the feeling of getting married to her best friend who she used to bully around, and he let her. His love never changed, even when he claimed he hated her, she could see the concern in his eyes.
She put both the pictures in the box she's taking with her. The sound of the band stopped, which meant Shravan was coming in. She was feeling like butterflies running in her stomach. Heartbeat doesn't wanna calm down, an overwhelming feeling was engulfing her.

Shravan got down of the horse with a heart full of happiness that he never felt before. Never he felt this light, there was no heaviness on his mind and soul. Just Happiness.
Shravan was about to go in for the tika when Pushkar stopped him.
This is not done bhaiya!!! It's your wedding and you have to dance and he signaled the band to start playing again.
Shravan tried to make an excuse but Varun and Aditya too requested him.
Apni shaadi pe nahi to dusre ki shaadi pe naachega Kya??? Questioned Lalaji making Shravan blush.
Shravan then danced for couple of minutes with Pushkar making everyone applaud for him.
Tiwari's were ready to Welcome the Malhotras now. Rachna Maasi was ready with Aarti thali and Preeti was standing with the flower petals thaal.
"Maine kaha tha na tika to main Dulhan ki Maasi se hi lagwaoonga", said Shravan as she put tika on his forehead, reminding her of Pushkar's wedding.
Kab se dil me chupa ke rakha tha hamari Suman ko??
Bachpan se bua replied Preeti while showering flower petals at him.
Shravan took Nanu's blessing as they were welcomed by the Tiwaris. Mama, Mami, Mausaji welcomed the Malhotras with folded hands.
As Shravan entered he was happy to see the mandap was beautifully decorated as Suman wanted it to be. His eyes were on Sumo's room, waiting for her grand entry.
Chote sab ready hai na??
Yes bhaiya, don't worry. Replied Pushkar.
"Nirmalaji woh"... said Mami and stopped
Kya baat hai Manjuji??
Woh Varmala!!!!
Pushkar ne Varmala lene se mana kiya tha. Hum kya kare ab Varmala nahi hai..
Nirmala smiled, Main layi hoon Varmala, aap fikar mat kariye. Kuch bhi galat nahi hoga".
Suman was still waiting in anticipation when she received his text.
Beep: I'm Waiting Kab Aaogi Bahar?
Jab mujhe lene koi aayega tabhi aa sakti hoon.
Beep: To Main aa jaoon??
Abhi saath nahi par Tumhare paas hi aa rahi hoon...
Beep: Tum mujhe pagal bana kar hi chodogi. Jaldi aao
Panditji bulayenge tab aaoongi
Beep: Main bulaaon to????
Shravann!!!!!
Beep: OK OK I'm waiting. Bye.
It took another 10 minutes for the Panditji to inform that it was time for the Mahurat. Shravan was asked to come up to the Mandap for the Jaimala.
Preeti, Anjali and Poorna went to get Sumo.
She looked in the mirror one last time before heading out of the room. As she stepped outside Dabboo handed her a yellow tulip, making her smile, for every step she took a kid handed her a different color tulip making her already overwhelming heart submerge in a flood of emotions.
Finally she was in front of him, with happy tears in her eyes as she was collecting Tulips on every step she takes towards him. Looking beautiful like a fairy, the pink lehenga he selected was just adding glow to her already beautiful face. He knew she would blush like no one have ever have in that color. He was mesmerized looking at his best friend who never cared much about how she looks and now she was looking the most beautiful bride ever.
She looked at him while coming towards the stage. He was looking like a Prince in that Maroon Sherwani which made her realize her story is no less than a fairytale for her which she never thought she will have one. She knew when she got the first Tulip that Shravan was going out of the way to make her feel special and she didn't have words to express her gratitude towards him.
Lafzon me kya kahe dil me jo baat hai.
He held her hand to help her get on the stage. The warmth from his hand gave her comfort she needed from all the emotions.
"You look breathtaking", he whispered in her ear making her feelings go back up to a whole new level.
They stood in opposite each other for Jaimala and Suman was stunned to see his next surprise making everyone gasp in surprise too as no one as has ever seen a Varmala made with Tulips. She looked at Shravan who gave her a smile making her wonder he far he goes just to make her happy.
"Bhaiya ka bas chalta to yeh sara Mandap Tulips se bhar dete, par utne mile nahi na, itne hi mangwa paye woh, aur kuch to gh..."
Chup kar chote. Shravan made him stop.
Pehle Kanya Varmala pehnaengee said Panditji.
They shared an eyelock while holding the varmala, but as Suman came forward to put the varmala, Varun pulled Shravan back making everyone cheer for Shravan.
She needs stairs to reach up to Shravan's neck teased Varun.
I'll help Sumo, I'm with her now, said Pushkar helping Mamaji pick her up so she can put the Varmala, as Shravan was not bending down.
Suman tried again but Varun pulled him back again making Suman pout in disappointment, Shravan smiled and came forward to bend down and Suman finally put the Varmala on him.
As it was Shravan's turn, Mamaji and Pushkar tried to move away but he put the Varmala on Suman in the first try making everyone cheer for him.
It was a sight to remember, they completed the first ritual for their Wedding.
Are you OK? Asked Shravan to which she just nodded.
Khwabon se bhi haseen lagti yeh raat hai
Panditji then asked them to sit down as it was time for the Kanyadaan.
Nanu came forward to sit between them, he took Suman's hand and handed to Shravan and softly telling him to take care of her. Shravan nodded and put his other hand on his assuring him that he will take good care of his Suman.
Khwabon se bhi haseen lagti yeh raat hai.
Panditji asks the family members to do the Gatbandhan. Rachna Maasi came forward and did the Gatbandhan.
Panditji asks them to stand for the Pheras.
Shravan gets up and offers his hand to help Suman stand up, she takes it with a smile.
Panditji asks them to start taking pheras, Shravan squeezes her hand and moves ahead to take the first vow, she follows him as everyone shower flower petals at them.
While taking every vow he squeezes her hand a little as if telling her he is taking these vows wholeheartedly and would never back out of it.
After the fourth Phera, Panditji asks Suman to go forward, this time she squeezes his hand to make him feel the same.
They complete taking the Seven Pheras amidst everyone still showering flower petals.
Khushiyaan banke baarish barasti chali gayi...
Zindagi kahan kahan se guzarti chali gayi...
They sat down after completing the pheras. Nirmala came forward with sindoor.
Shravan took a pinch of sindoor and looked at Sumo, she bent her head down,"this is second time, I filled it already with my blood" he winked before he filled her hairline making her blush.
Then Nirmala handed the mangalsutra, which he put around Suman's neck completing the Wedding rituals.
Panditji asked them to take blessings of the elders of the family. They first took Nanu's blessing, then Ramnath & Nirmala's, Mama and Mami's, Kamini and Lalaji's and Maasi and Mausaji's.
"Mubarak ho Shravan Suman" said Varun and Vandy in unision.
Congratulations, bhaiya and Sumo, said Pushkar while hugging them. Preeti, Dabboo, and all the friends came and congratulated them. Then came all the women from PCT, and gave a group hug to her.
"Congratulations Mrs. Shravan Malhotra" whispered Shravan to Suman.
You too Mr. Malhotra, she replied.
All the family members joined them at the stage to take pictures of this memorable day. As Ramnath was taking picture, he received a call which made him look worried.
What happened Papa, is everything OK??
Yes Beta, a new case, don't worry. Let's take pictures.
Soon it was time for Vidaai. Suman went in her room one last time, she looked at the whole room and all the memories of how she came here for the first time came back. All the happy and sad moments flashed in her eyes.
She felt a hand on her shoulder.
"Sumo this will be always be your home, please don't be sad. If you want you can come here everyday", said Shravan making her lips stretch for a faint smile.
I know Shravan, but it won't be the same. Everyone will be moving to US soon.
"I'll be there with you too Di", said Preeti hugging her and while taking her out.
"Pati Patni se pehle tum dono Dost ho, is dosti ko hamesha qaaim rakhna", said Nanu with teary eyes when Suman and Shravan went to take Nanu's blessing.
"Nanu aap apna khayal rakhna aur kuch bhi baat ho, mujhe phone kar dena main aajaoongi"
"Hum aajayenge" said Shravan.
What?? He questioned, I'm not letting you off anymore.
Everyone hugged Suman as she leaving to start a new life. She turned around and looked at Tiwari Killa one last time.

Shravan held her hand as he opened the car door to make her sit. He then got in from the other side.
Di, I got all your stuff said Preeti as she was sitting in the front with Pushkar.
Sumo are you OK??
Hmmm. She replied resting her head on his shoulder.
He held her hand through the whole ride to Malhotra House.
As they reached, Nirmala welcomed Shravan and Suman by doing the aarti.
Suman then pushed the kalash down with her right foot and entered the house.
When they were about to take blessings Ramnath got a phone call, he picked it up and went to his room.
"Ramath uncle is not here Shravan".
"He must be in his room, let's go".
As they entered Ramnath's room, they saw him sitting on the bed flabbergasted.
Papa are you OK?
"Yeah yeah Shravan. I'm OK, tum fikar mat karo bas thoda thak gaya hoon".
They both took his blessing. "Suman"... Said Ramnath.
"Yes uncle"
I'm sorry beta. Will you be able to forgive me??
"I already did Uncle. Please never say sorry again".
He blessed her again.
As they both came back to the living room, everyone was sitting in the living room.
"Di aap ka samaan sab rakhwa diya hai aapke room me", teased Preeti.
How do we go up now?? Shravan thought as everyone were staring at them.
"Puttar Suman ko le kar ja upar thak gayi hogi" said Lalaji, making Shravan sigh in happiness.
But Vandy and Preeti blocked them.
"Shravan you cannot go up until you give us our Nek", said Vandy.
"Yes Jeeju, sorry is waqt main aapki saali nahi bhabhi hoon, Nek liye bagair jaane nahi denge aapko".
Shravan was hoping Varun bhaiya and Pushkar would come to his rescue, but they both lifted their hands.
"Tu hi sambhal le bhai, hum kuch nahi kar sakte said Varun".
Shravan checked his wallet and got out all the cash he had.
15,000 Bas itne hi??? Mummji aap kuch boliye na complained Vandy, to which everyone started laughing.
Sorry bhabhi I didn't know about this, I don't have anymore cash, because of demonetization But I can give you my card or I promise I'll give it to you tomorrow.
Do you wanna stay here till tomorrow asked Preeti, which made Shravan yell What!!!!! In shock.
Suman was just blushing seeing Shravan's antics to go upstairs.
Don't bother them, said Nirmala, giving more Rs 50,000 to Vandy and Preeti making them happy.
You cannot go up like this bhaiya, said Pushkar earning a stern glare from Shravan. Don't be mad at me Bhaiya, I was just saying to pick Sumo up in your arms and take her upstairs to which everyone cheered saying yes.
Sumo nodded her head in negative, but Shravan came forward and picked her up bridal style and carried her to their room...
