At Malhotra House
Sumo sat dejectedly on the floor crying her eyes out when Pushkar comes in. He goes to her and wipes her tears. He asks - kya hua Sumo?
She hands him the papers. He is stunned for a minute. Then says - Bhaiya aisa kaise kar sakte hai, tu uth, tu chal mere saath, hum abhi unse baat karte hain.
Sumo - nahi Pushkar wo nahi marega, usne khud mujhse kaha hai ki meri galti ki koi maafi nahi hai. Main uska pyaar deserve nahi karti, na hi apni wajah se usse aur takleef me nahi dekh sakti, isliye uski zindagi se jaa rahi hu.
She goes to the bookshelf and picks up the 12th standard crossword dictionary with the letter Shravan had written to her many years ago expressing his love for her and gets going.
Pushkar stops her and says - Sumo, chal main tujhe ghar drop kar deta hoon aur haan ye yaad rakhna ki tum dono ek dusre se alag ho hi nahi sakte, kyunki tum dono ek hi ho.
At Sumo's house
They drive in silence. He takes Sumo's hand, gives a reassuring squeeze as he drops her off at the entrance to her house.
She goes in, checks on Shiv who is fast asleep. Tucks him in properly and sits next to him caressing his hair. She talks to herself - tumpar main iss sab ka koi asar nahi padne dungi. Tumhe mumma aur papa dono hi ka pyaar milega, humesha. She falls asleep next to him.
At Malhotra House
Shravan is unable to sleep. He is sitting on his bed with his phone in his hand looking at their pictures. He thinks to himself - mujhe pehle hi samajh lena tha ki hum dono ek doosre se kitna bhi pyaar karle par mere saath koi bhi humesha nahi rehna chahta. Meri kismat hi aisi hai, pehle maa aur ab Sumo. He dozes off thinking about his misfortunes.
Next Morning at Sumo's House
Shravan arrives. Shiv opens the door and is very happy to see his papa. He hugs him and in response Shravan picks him up. They go in. Shiv gets down picks up his glass of milk and sits on the couch. Sumo comes from inside. Shraman share an eye lock. Sumo sits down next to Shravan so that they both face Shiv. Sumo starts speaking - beta mujhe aur tumhare papa ko tumse ek zaroori baat karni hai. Hum dono tumse bahut pyaar karte hain aur ye promise karte hai ki tumhare liye humara pyaar kabhi kam nahi hoga, tum humare liye sabse important ho aur rahoge. Bas itna change hoga ki tum weekdays par mere saath rahoge aur weekend par papa ke saath aur tumhara jab mann kare tum papa se mil sakte ho, baat kar sakte ho.
Shiv - par aisa kyu mumma, hum saath me kyu nahi reh sakte?
Sumo - Beta kyuki ab papa aur main saath nahi hai, hum divorce le rahe hain par beta tum toh hum dono ke pyaare baby ho na, humesha rahoge. Tumhare papa aur main humesha friends rahenge.
Shiv gets angry and says through his tears - aap log jhooth bol rahe ho, bade log humesha jhooth kehte hain ki wo friends rahenge, par aisa nahi hota. Aap ke liye main important hu na, toh kisi ne mujhse kyu nahi poocha, mujhe dono chahiye. He picks his back and storms out to take his bus while both his parents run outside after him calling his name. He takes the bus and leaves.
Shravan to Sumo - Chalo.
She follows him number, tears streaming down her eyes, Shravan turns his face to wipe his own tears, opens the car door for her. She sits and he closes the door and comes and sits on the other side. For a while he looks at her, she looks back. He thinks to himself - Sumo, tum kaise maan gayi, kya tum mujhe rokega nahi. While Sumo is thinking - ye maine kya kar diya, kis muh se tumse maafi mangu, please par aisa toh mat karo.
Breaking their reverie, Shravan starts the car and they head to the court.
At the Court
They get down from the car. Shravan starts walking towards the family court. Sumo follows listless lyrics. They approach the judge. The judge asks them if this is their final decision, they both look at the each other with the hope that the other will say no. After a while Shravan says yes, Sumo also nods her head. Both of them come outside feeling lost and broken.
As they come outside they hear a man shouting very loudly. On going closer they notice that a lawyer is trying to get into her car and the man is holding her back hurling abuses at her. She is a remarkably beautiful woman and the man is quite unkempt, seems like an alcoholic.
Shravan gets very enraged. He rushes down and rescues the woman. He is already very upset and takes out all his pent up anger on that man. On Sumo's insistence two policemen go and break the fight as they try to arrest that man, but he manages to get away. Shravan is injured. Sumo goes to him and gently touches his cheek where there is a big gash. Shravan moves away and asks the woman if he can drop her home to ensure that she reaches safely. She agrees and says Thanks . He introduces himself as Shravan Malhotra and Suman as his wife. She shakes hands with them and introduces herself as Diya Singhania. Shravan asks Sumo to take his car and go home and that he will send someone to pick up his car.
Meanwhile at School
It is lunchtime, Shiv and friends are in cafeteria. Shiv is very upset. Shreya goes to thy counter to get his favorite juice box. While she is at the counter, two boys whom she knows as kids of her father's colleagues at the hospital shout out to her - Sirf uske liye logi, humare liye bhi serve kar do. Tum ho hi humari servant banne layak, loser's daughter. Her eyes starts welling up. Shiv is unable to control his anger and he goes and punches one of the boys. Then he leaves the cafeteria with Shreya and his friends.
Sumo is halfway home when she receives a call from the principal.
Meanwhile
Shravan is driving and Diya is on the passenger seat. She asks
- can I ask something - are you The Shravan Malhotra. He nods. She says - big fan of yours, I have often seen you arguing in Court. I would love to work with you if possible. He asks - and what do you practice - well I practice Criminal law.
Shravan - well guess what, we do have a vacancy in that department, would it be possible for you to come to our office the day after for an interview?
Diya - That would be wonderful, thanks so much.
Shravan receives a call from the principal. He keeps the phone and says - not again!
Diya - what happened?
Shravan - nothing it's my son, Shiv. Must have done something yet again.
They reach her home. He drops her off and takes her leave. She thanks him again for the help and the interview opportunity. He leaves for school.
