Chapter 2
He looked just like the last time, yet so different. She had found him in the party as soon as he made an entry. It was as if she could fee his presence, his aura so strong that it engulfed her from everywhere; And then his eyes which collided with her's.
For a moment she wanted to rush past everyone and throw herself in his arms, but, she resisted it all. She just couldn't bring herself to do it. His eyes seemed to say so much but his face remained caustic. She had to admit he looked impeccable, like always and his Greek God features would make any girl fall for him. The radiance around him could not be escaped. His lips, God! They were so soft and that moment when they touched her earlobe it felt electric. That very minute she was turned on and all she could do was let out a gasp. She was still weak. He had so much control over her and her emotions made her cringe in frustration.
She opened her eyes and stood in front of a mirror. Her reflection made her eyes wide as she could see her face flushed and her fingers tracing her earlobe. Conscious of her action and her thoughts, she quickly stopped herself from going back to the prohibited place where her mind seemed to travel.
She mentally slapped herself for not having a grip on her emotions and made a firm resolution to never fall weak in front of him. Her trail of thoughts were put to an end by a phone call.

" Scalpel" she commanded.
The open cerebrum revealing the lobes, the white surgical gloves painted red with blood, wires of all kind taped on the patient laying unconscious, the OR giving a sight. Her eyes glued on the screen as she observed her hand movements keenly. Her fingers moved in sync one holding a pin and the other an examining tube and as the tube went deeper exploring the lobes she came across the tumor which needed her attention.
The water rinsed her hands clean while she looked at the patient, now safe, still in the bed. Taking a deep breath she mumbled,
"To save lives is our duty."
Drying her hands she walked out from the OR.
" Your husband is doing just fine " informed the nurse to the women pacing nervously in the waiting room.
" Oh God! Thank you so much " the women said relived.
" Thank her. She saved him." said the nurse pointing at the physician in a dark blue shirt and pant.
The women approached the physician who was waiting for the lift and said," I can't thank you enough. My husband, thank you so much. "
The women sounded full of gratitude and relief evident in her face.
The doctor put her hand on the wife's shoulder and smiled in understanding her happiness.
The lift opened and the physician got inside.
" What's your name Doctor? " the women questioned.
Before the doors closed, the doctor answered with a smile, " It's Dr.Suman. "

His actions had been impetuous and his room stood as evidence for that. In silence they seemed in peace but their state conveyed something in contrast. A bottle of whiskey adored the empty table in the centre of the room. His travel bag, open, lay in a corner. Few valuables scattered across the room. Still in the black suit he laid there motionless in his bed. Anybody would have doubted his existence if not for the blabbering that he did in his deep slumber.
He was accompanied by a book beside him which flipped it's pages everytime a stroke of air passed through it.
" Jeene ki aas toh har insaan ko hoti hai...
Kuch kushnaseeb jo maut se lad jate hai...
Aur kuch badnasseb kurbaan ho jate hai.."
A lone drop of dear dressed her cheeks as she sat head pinned down on the wooden desk.

He sat there head down, his fingers pressing the sides of his brain and he groaned as he felt them exploding inside. The inebriation had totally marred his senses. He cursed his biddable and brittle self who was pliant. His emotions had made him weak and now he suffered.
" So,hangover huh?" came a voice,no, a very familiar voice.
For a moment he had Mistaken it to be his hallucination but the next words told him it was reality,it was her.
" You shouldn't have had so much alcohol. It's toxic." She advised.
He smirked at her statement and looked up to see her leaning over the lockers.
Another stroke of hangover and his head spinned. Pressing the right side of his forehead firmly he frowned with anger.
"You shouldn't be here...You shouldn't be doing anything that you are doing and just treat yourself." She said, her voice Stern yet so caring.
She stood there for him to counter her or atleast mock her with his attitude but what happened next blew her off.
She was pressed between him and the lockers.
" So, you have started treating Doctors?" His voice emitting nuance and his eyes, they looked tired. She couldn't help but notice those brown eyes gone black and the luster lost. His jaw line so perfect and the stuble trimmed just the way she likes it. Yet he wasn't the same guy or was he?
" What happened Dr. Suman Malho.." He stopped mid sentence as he saw her eyes turn wide and brittle.
His strong hold on her shoulders made it impossible for her to budge. His face centimeters away from her's, their breaths mingling with each other and those tired eyes exploring the past which lays somewhere in the distance between them.

" Why do you want to become a Doctor? " she questioned stopping him on his tracks.
" Excuse me, and who are you to interrogate me?" He shot back in a mild tone
She covered the few steps and stood in front of him with a smile.
" I saw you in the Classroom. When Dean Sir questioned the reason for us choosing to be doctors, everyone kept answering with reasons like," Because I want to save lives" or " because I want to do social service" and you seem to be amused by their answers.
" So" he asked starting on his foot.
Walking beside him she asked" what's your answer? "
He could sense the curiosity in her tone and so he finally answered, " Cause they were all lying. "
" what?" she asked again shocked at his reply.
" see you at the class tomorrow.. And by the way my name is Shravan Malhotra" He said and disappeared into the classroom.
