Chapter 4.
Shravan:
Toasts.
I like toasts. But, I am not cooking one. So who is? Because this delicious smell of toast and omlettes is sort of making me drool and I'm not even completely awake.
Sumo.
That woke me up. And also made me fall down from my very 'comfortable' couch. I'm going to call this couch as 'ouch couch'.
Perfect.
Perfect entry of To-be Mrs. Suman Malhotra when I was sprawled down on the floor, in a not so decent manner.
"Shravan?" Her eyes grew wide and she kept the tray of breakfast on the centre table before rushing upto me. And knelt down next to me.
"Wh..what..why are you lying on the floor?" She blinked her eyes twice, looking utterly confused.
And, cute.
"Oh, um, woh.."
"You fell?" Her eyes grew even wider.
"Um not really, I was just checking how does this tiny freefall from the couch to the floor feels like. Nothing to worry." I whipped out my best smile for her. And she looked at me as if I was in dire need of a psychiatrist's attention asap.
"Why would you..do that?"
Oh great.
She was actually contemplating with my answer? I thought she'd catch up with the joke.
Since she didn't find the joke funny, I chuckled for both of us.
"You are crazy." Both of us spoke together.
"You fell!"
"I fell!"
We spoke again. Together.
"I like this telepathy. My soon to be wife and I are timing well." I smiled and sat up.
She rolled her eyes.
"I told you. Couch isn't going to be a great bed for you." She sighed.
I just shrugged.
"Breakfast for me?" I couldn't help but smile. In my 27 years of life, this was probably the first time somebody was considerate enough to cook for me.
She merely nodded.
"Go brush." She smiled.
Finally.
Finally, Malhotra teko ek smile mil hi gyi.
My heart leaped up in joy seeing that smile.
---
"Shravan?" Her tiny, hesitant voice made me stop hogging on my food. It took me 28 minutes, to brush, fresh up, bath and dress up for work. It was a record time. Yes.
I knew she wanted to ask something. It was in her voice, on her face.
"Yeah?" I turned all of my attention to my beautiful wife (I would take privelege to call her that even though the legal stuff was yet to be done). Even beautiful wouldn't explain it.
I know, the circumstances we were put together in weren't really great but now she was mine. Mine. Wow. And I would make sure, she lived her life just as I promised Nanu. Moreover, I personally felt a great desire to keep her happy. I don't know where it stemmed from but the point is, it did.
Her gaze lingered on my face for a few seconds before dropping down on the table.
"Sumo?" I kept my hand on hers.
"What is it?" I ask.
"A week ago.. I applied to one company..called 'A Thousand Dreams.' Its basically..a company with lots of interior designers..and..and they work on big projects. Its..name is kind of very known in Delhi." She stammered alot. And, I wondered why was she so nervous to talk to me.
"And they called you for work? And, you are trying to ask me if you can go work?" I ask, with a smile. If anything, I was proud. I had no idea, Suman had a degree in designing!
"Yes. Nanu knew about this.. I..I had no idea, I mean even you'd have no idea that we'd get married.. But we got..married. I mean..we will. So..I thought I should ask." She blabbered.
"Are you nervous because you are beginning with work today or you are nervous because of me?" I ask her, instead.
"You." She blurted and I was surprised.
"I mean..both. But mostly you." She whispered.
I held her chin gently and made her look in my eyes.
"Firstly, you are supposed to look at me while we talk. Always. Okay?"
She merely nodded to my instruction.
"Secondly, its your life, Sumo. You want to work, you work. And if you don't want to work, you don't. Who am I to tell you how to live your life?" I smiled faintly.
"My husband. I..i mean to be." She murmured.
"Oh, husband sounds just fine. And nice." I winked at her.
"But, keeping that aside. I'm your husband, so? I'm going to support you through everything. That's what my job is." I planted a kiss on her forehead.
"I want to be your best friend, Sumo. More than anything. And you aren't allowed to ask me all this. I'm nobody to allow or not allow you to work. Though, I'm very proud that you want to work." I smile at her and thankfully, she smiles back.
"Next time, when there is something that you want to ask me, don't. Just tell me what you are gonna do and I'd be by your side. I promise. Unless, you are about to murder somebody." I grinned
Her eyes lit up in that moment, and she chuckled softly and I swear I had never been as happy as now, ever.
---
"But, I want to drop you to work. Its your first day. I want to drop you to work on your first, second, third, fourth and the rest of the days. Why not?" I pouted.
I know, I know, I said she could take all her decisions. And I am not going to hinder that but I just wanted to spend a little more time with her and take her to her work and kiss her cheek and tell her 'all the best'.
Wasn't that sort of acceptable?
"I don't mind you dropping me, Shravan. Its not that." She sighed exasperatedly.
"Your office, infact, is on my way. So what exactly is the problem?" I sighed too.
"I don't like going in car." She says in a small voice and I immediately realise that it was her fear of being in car, rather than anything else.
Arhaan, i knew, was in a car crash. Maybe that was why? But she was in car with me yesterday. But maybe, yesterday was just an extreme day.
"I have to report in half hour. Can we please leave, Shravan?" She looked uncomfortable because she probably knew I was going to question her and try to reason out with her. But maybe later.
"Okay, If I can't drop you in car, you drop me in your scooty? Alright?" I smiled.
"But, my office comes before yours." She frowned at me.
"Its okay. I know how to ride a scooty, I'll take yours and go ahead and then come back when you are done with work. You ride us back to home then. Is that okay?" I hold her hand and take her to where her scooty was parked. I had asked one of my workers to get it from her house yesterday.
She doesn't argue because maybe she knows, I wouldn't budge on this. So we leave. Before we get terribly late.
---
Hi guys.
I know I'm late. Sorry, okie?
I hope this chapter was cute. I thought it was cute. It was making me smile.
Just btw, in this FF, Suman is nothing like the Suman as shown in the show. She is strong willed and all that in the show, but Suman in this FF had been through alot and her life has been really different than the one on the show. Hence she isn't very high on self confidence. But she will be. Shravan will help her through it all :)
Hope you guys like it. Please, please drop in your review. It means alot to me.
Thankyouuu.
Love,
Palak.
P.S. i have nobusiness saying this but my insides are dying to do some more word vomit. I have this really, really cute storyline in my head. (I am story processor, i swear. Lol)
What do I do guys?
