The story goes that one day, Shri Krishna (in Golok) was with a Gopi and Shridhama was guarding them. Radharani wished to meet with Krishna but Shridhama stopped her. Angry, she cursed him that he would be born on Earth and leave the service to his lord which he was so proud of. Shridhama in turn cursed her that she too would be born on Earth and bear the pain of separation from Krishna throughout her life. When Krishna heard this, he promised Radha that she would be born again as eight of his principal queens, so that even though one of herself would bear the pain of separation, the other eight would enjoy being with him as his wives.
They probably will show the Satyabhama and Jambavathi story, since it's pretty important in Krishna Leela...don't know about the others though.
And yes, Vishnu Puraan is right. Rukmini is Lakshmi avatar, but so are the others...however, different versions vary, because some say Bhumi Devi was reborn as Satyabhama...even then though, Bhumi Devi and Lakshmi Devi are both amsas of Ma Shakti, aren't they? So they're also same.
