Incidentally, he was called Karna long before he sacrificed the kavach/kundal, which was sometime before the war, when it looked inevitable that he wouldn't abandon the Kauravas. Like at the archery contest where he humiliated Arjun, Karna was what he was called.

True. But what I was referring to was this:

First he was Vasusena.
Because he hewed his armour
off his body he became
Karna the Cutter.

Thanks guys for all the links! I am not very well versed in the Mahabharat except for the general story line. I really appreciate all the references. Thanks to each and everyone of u.

Now I have to start a Mahabharat scrap book with all the Mahabharat info and pics. 😆

Good idea, Khalrika! Need Mahabharata info? So join the club!
I remember, long time ago we have had very nice discussions over here:

My favorite part starts from here

I like how our Nakeeran re-told the war stories.
Goodness, we had it all back then! Btw, I know for sure, all Mahabharata discussions are going in circles...

Thanks Same. I think I will be a bhootni though. I may come to ask questions and get clarification. U, Chandra, Vibs, Ananya, Kal, and others seem to know a lot about Dwapara Yug unlike me.

Need to get familiar with Dwapara yug! Can't become the next Jambavati otherwise! 😆

Sorry, that should read Vrisha and not Chandra...forgot.

So, why is the discussion not heating up? I need to come here and give a hard time to Vrisha, Kal, and others to get the discussions going methinks. 😆
I never give a hard time to Vibs. Dunno why! 😆

I had a very basic question. Did Treta Yug finish when Ramji went back to Vaikunt? When did Dwapara Yug start?

I remember reading that Ram's Mahaprayan marked the end of Tretha Yuga and the beginning of the Dwapar Yuga.

So Kush and all his brother/cousins, as well as Angad (Vali's Angad, not just Lakshman's) were the first rulers of the Dwapar Yuga?

Likewise, would Parikshit and Vajra have been the first rulers in Kalyug?

Yes, that must be so.

I'm not sure of Parikshit - I remember reading that the day Parikshit died marked the end of Dwpar Yuga and the beginning of Kali Yuga.

Janamejaya may have been the first ruler of Kali Yuga. Did Vajra rule a separate kingdom or did he live along with the Pandava progeny? Dwaraka was destroyed - did the remaining Yadavas build a separate kingdom?
