"Vicky! Stop it man! I agreed to come here, isn't that enough?" I was annoyed
"Raghu! Please no! It's been so long since we did this, thoda toh masti kiya kar life mein!" he looked at me with pleading eyes.
" please vicky, I am not in a mood to get slapped by all the women present here tonight."
" dude! We are in a pub, girls over here are would be used to it by now!" he reasoned
" fine, but if I get slapped even once, I swear vicky I shall be out of here" i deadpanned.
" pakka, done raghu! Chill yaar, tere Jaise ko kaun ladki thapad maaregi?"
" yeah yeah..you go first" I smirked.
" wait and watch buddy!" He touched up his hair and walked towards a girl standing alone with a drink.
This was something we did quite frequently. We call it the pick up line night, there were no rules, we just had to talk to a random girl, and use pick up lines And see how far we got with her.
I moved behind him, as he approached a skinny girl wearing a really tight dress. I just hope she doesn't bend down. I stood close to them wanting to here the pick up line and see the reaction.
" Excuse me, you just dropped something.." he started
" what?" the girl looked back to check
" this conversation, can we pick it up later tonight?" he flashed her a smile
She frowned and scowled, then just walked away.
" gosh! That was so freaking old vicky! "
" woh..I was just warming up, dekhna agli waali pakka!"
He skimmed through the club, and moved to the bar, a girl with fuzzy black hair was seated on one of the stools. I walked behind him again, taking a seat next to the girl.
"you know, you remind me of a wrench, every time I look a you My nuts tighten up" he said with a really serious face.
" gross!" and thats when she slapped him, and walked away.
I burst out laughing, as he held his right cheek with his hand. I offered him my drink which he pressed against the bruise.
" seriously! Everyone underestimates my talent." he managed to smile.
"Acha I am going next!" I announced.
" which one are you picking? " he asked
" no idea..umm..maybe that brunette over there?" I pointed at her.
I rubbed my palms, and casually sat beside her. She looked at me with confusion, as I checked her out.
" what?" se asked in annoyance.
" hmm..that's a lovely pair of legs, what time do they open?" I asked with a seductive smile.
" eeww! You perv! " she made a face and hit me with her purse.
Thank heavens, it didn't hurt that bad. God! What's happened to girls these days?!
I saw vicky doubled over with laughter, and I just glared at him.
I pointed to another girl sitting by the bar at the far end of the table. He gave me a thumbs up as I walked in her direction.
The girl had sleek black hair, caressing her face softly. She wore a short black dress with black converse shoes. Converse? I have never seen a girl wearing converse with a dress! Hmm..interesting.
I plopped down on the chair, and coughed softly to make her notice me. She was sipping beer directly from the bottle. She didn't notice me. I decided to talk to her.
" excuse me?" I started
" yes?" her smooth voice answered as she turned to look at me.
My eyes drifted towards her eyes, Huge beautiful eyes. A shade of a very dark hazel,she blinked her eyes, and I snapped out of whatever trance I was in.
" you owe me a drink.." I quickly got back in action
" umm..why?" she asked
" because I dropped mine while looking at you." I answered innocently.
"try harder dude..you aren't getting anywhere" she flipped her hair, and continued sipping the beer.
"be unique and different and just say yes!" I tried another one.
"this isn't the seventies..okay, let's do one thing. Let's forget about this, and try again." she smiled.
Her whole face was lit up as she smiled. The way she lifted an eyebrow, challenging me. I sighed silently.
" Okay, if I asked you for a kiss , would your answer be same as this question?" I smirked.
This one has got to be right!
" hmm..better.." she patted my shoulder.
" hey! Answer toh do.."
" hmm...does that matter?" she looked directly into my eyes
" i guess it does" I whispered.
She leaned in closer, face absolutely serious, she caressed my cheek. My eyes fluttered closed in satisfaction. Shit! This girl, there was just something in her touch which made me go crazy!
I could feel her breath on my lips. Her lashes brushed against my nose, and I inhaled sharply. She surely was experienced.
" better luck next time darling" she whispered huskily in my ear.
My eyes flew open, it was like someone had woken me up from a deep slumber. I focused on her face, as she laughed mockingly at my expression. Her laughter, was so pleasant, it made my insides churn even after the trick she had played on me.
" You'r such a wuss!" she spoke between fits of laughter.
" I cant believe a girl did this to me.." I shook my head
"care for a dance?" she offered me her hand
" I feel like a chick" I muttered
I heard her giggle again at what I said, she didn't laugh like all other girls. Not the squeaky, shrill giggle, but a more deep and velvety one. The kind of laugh that makes you want to laugh too! Her laughter was nothing but contagious.
"get over it.." she rolled her eyes
I took her hand and we moved to the dance floor. A peppy number was playing, and we could hardly hear ourselves. Everyone around us was dancing, and I finally decided to dance too .More like swayed with the music.
I looked at her who was sort of doing the same thing. We looked at each other, and smiled awkwardly.
I finally let go, and started some hip hop steps as well, as the song changed to one of my favourite numbers.
" ooh! Nice moves handsome" a girl in skimpy clothes, almost purred in my ear.I flashed her a smile and winked at her.
I looked at the converse girl. Yes I would call her that!
" come dance with me!" I chirped.
I was in an awfully good mood. I guess vicky was right. I looked around me, realising that we were surrounded by a crowd of people, who were watching us eagerly and cheering.
She started moving with the music slowly, then suddenly broke into a whacking section. Her arms and feet moved with synchronisation, she waved her entire body, and swayed her ass, pouting and playing with her hair.
The crowd was going crazy And hooting. I raised m eyebrows in awe , hadn't expected her to be this good. She winked at me and walked back, leaving the floor for me.
I entered with a cartwheel and decided to show off my B-boying skills. I flipped in the air, landing on my hand, and started kicking the air along with the beats.
I heard the crowd going 'ooh' and 'aah" and smirked. I straightened myself and snapped my fingers with attitude. I pulled her closer, and she started dancing along with me. She moved her hips to the beats of salsa, and I followed her lead.
Twirling her around fiercely, I jerked her towards me. Our faces almost touched..the moment sent shivers down my spine. I felt cold, like I was standing outside on a snowy day. Her eyes held mine as captives, not even blinking once. My hands moved to her neck, as we inched forward, my eyes were focused on her lips.
Her breath was intoxicating. She closed her eyes, ready to close the gap. Suddenly. Was pushed by a guy roughly, and I got back me senses. I looked at the guy, but he had already left.
I looked at her, to see whether she was angry. But when I look at her, she just smiled at me reassuringly. I thanked her silently.
She quickly ended the dance with a high kick, nearly missing my head.
The crowd by then was cheering like insane. The level of excitement was overwhelming. The crowd started to disappear slowly, and we got back to our seats near the bar.
" dude! You got some real talent" i Hi-Fived her.
I really love this about her, she isn't like all the other girls, she seemed more like a guy, but not a tomboy. Maybe, someone who could understand what I feel! Not like all other bimbos, all they can do is scream and cry.
" I know right! I'm just brilliant that way" she winked
" I love your attitude woman!" I kept my hand on my heart, just for the effects.
" just the attitude? What about me?" she feigned innocence
" ooh! Babe, I love you too!"
I moved forward to hug her, but ended up falling instead. "you still gotta brush up your skills" she glanced at me.
" by the way, how do I contact you? I don't have your number" I said
" not again" she muttered
" hey! At least naam toh Batao jaaneman" I grinned suggestively
" eww, you sound like a sick villain, in a old Bollywood flick" she looked at me in disgust.
" haha. Very funny" I replied monotonously
She pushed her chair back, and stood up abruptly. She looked a little alarmed, and maybe a little scared? I gazed at her, trying to figure out what happened all of a sudden.
" kya hua? kahan jaa rahi ho?"
" sorry, need to rush. My..my boyfriend's here." she said
My heart almost shattered into a million pieces. I got up hurriedly, as she advanced towards the exit. "hey you forgot something!" I shouted
She twisted around, and almost ran till she reached the bar. "what?" she inquired, urgency evident in her tone. " Me!" I replied cheekily, and I crushed her into a hug.
For a moment she remained stiff, standing as still as a statue. I was half expecting her to hug me back, but she didn't.
In stead, she pushed me away, and glared at me, with fury in her eyes. My smile dropped as I studied her expression. " I..I am sorry..I shouldn't have done that." in looked down.
" idiot! If a girl flirts with you, that doesn't mean she is interested, specially if she has a boyfriend. Better luck next time buddy." and with those parting words, she walked away.
I looked at her graceful frame, as she drifted off the floor, and rushed out of the
exit. I closed my eyes, and took in a deep breath. Why do I always screw things up?
I didn't even get the chance to know her name..
I moved to the bar to collect my drink. I picked up my drink, and sat down in regret. I scanned the whole place hoping to find vicky, but I guess he finally got a girl, and was out of here.
I got up, ready to leave the place when something caught my eye. It was a silver bracelet studded with sequins. It was the same bracelet that she was wearing. The letter 'A' studded with most probably diamonds, was attached to one of the many loops in the it. It was a charm bracelet.
A tiny silver converse shoe,a guitar and a small ballerina were also a part of the bracelet.
I slipped it in my pocket and smiled contently. If I could have a wish, I would only ask for another chance to meet her.
" Ms.A" I breathed, and shook my head at my cheesiness. I sound like a typical Bollywood hero, smitten by his lady love.
