am back....sharika and gina...here's the interesting bit, while i did study philosophy, i never got around to psychology. my major was literature with philosophy and economics ancillary papers....don't ask me anything about economics...i have no idea how i got through the subject!!!!!!!!!!! psychology, while most of it is self taught through experiences, i have also read a bit on my own...just for pleasure!!

And man you explained the whole "liking" thing like some scientic theory!I imagined a diagram of the 3(id,ego,super-ego) and assigned them properties like you mentioned to understand better...hehe

nwz coming back to the discussion...you say Ridz id is in the initial stages..but then she is always more conscious abt being liked by everyone in general.The baby in her wants the constant pat on the back and when she gets the smack instead by Armaan,she wails and poops arnd 🤢 sorry for the bad words there but thats what i thk of her stupid pranks!
Whereas Angy's effrts at being liked are more where her dad is concerned.But in general she is not guided in her actions with this particular factor.
Armaan also tries to make himself likeble to Ridz but otherwise he is quite confident of himself.Atul tries hard for Angy to like him but he too is quite ok with his in Angy's words 'strange' self!

..am off for a 5 day short break..hopefully will get to watch DMG on time this wk...and will get to ramble off at ease and in peace but with a thunderstorm arnd..my creation..my 2 yr old!

When it does happen, the person and the circumstances can both take us by surprise – and the initial reaction sometimes is disbelief, denial and then before you know you are drawn into this vortex of emotions beyond ur control. When the differences are of a more serious nature you may know the person is wrong – you may try to bring their faults to their notice in the hope of correcting them.

Too right Sharika.You can almost see the desparation in Armaans eyes to erase the imperfections he is seeing in Riddhima!We have already seen him trying to correct her after her prank.Tonight hopefully he will set her right again!

Ur explanation for the need to be liked & accepted is really, like Notty says, so scientific or Freudian as u put it. I almost did the same thing as Notty mentally and was making equations of the whole philosophy

Self = fn( id, ego, superego)

Id = primal instincts, and so on….

And Notty…boy u have me cracking up…the sight of lil Armaan's mushrooming all over Sanjeevani is so hilarious... 😃

Aarti…going back to the original topic and relating it to the current track we are on ….

Riddhima's superego needs to suffer a major setback, examples of which we have seen when Armaan has pointed out her flaws to her without mincing any words! She has reacted very strongly and perhaps has gone against her basic character at times (the molestation trick to quote one) in an effort to hurt the person who is trying to pierce the cocoon that her life has been and challenging her id. She is resisting/denying her feelings for him because he brings a major conflict between her superego and her id and forces her ego to do a balancing act between the two, which it is not used to. Hence her reactions to Armaan are so extreme and an anti thesis of her behavior with the rest of the world. She senses danger to her ego in the garb of Armaan!

With the advent of the new guy (btw that is the only new promo I finally managed to catch – and honestly he is abs no challenge to Armaan & am not talking abt looks here!!) she is gonna try to reinforce her ego using this guy as a stepping stone (don't think she will be interested in him, just using him) to get at Armaan. How he reacts to her stupid maneuvering will make interesting viewing!

Notty…u brought out a fact which makes Riddhima's character interesting….She craves everyone's approval! It is, like Aarti said because she is still stuck in her id mode – but another factor cud be at play here. Does constant approval from someone u idolize, make you insecure or unwilling to accept any other kind of reaction from people – even people who are not really relevant in ur life in a big way. Whereas, a child who has been brought up with objectivity, wud not be afraid of failures or disapproval.

my id, ego, super ego bhaashan this afternoon was quite the rushed one, juggling the brat, a burning lunch and a hungry husband to boot....

so after that general overview, we will now proceed to assign the dominant part of the psyche that governs ridhima and perhaps armaan. (can you see my pince nez perched on my nose????)

sharika, bang on that ridz's super ego needs major upheaval...notty, back to when i said she is still id-ridden, note that her ego has also been on overdrive. her ego is responsible for her inflated sense of self, while her id demands those primal approvals that she so craves for. and as i mentioned earlier, the super ego or the father figure, consciousness of the xternal world added, is askew. for her super ego has instilled in her not only a false sense of mroality, but also that she is superior to the others with respect to that false sense.

when through armaan's unveiling of the true nature of the super ego occurs, ridz's id calls out to her ego to defend it and in the process of doing so she resorts to her derisive actions (sorry this came in here sareeta) to protect her id.

once the upheaval is complete, we can expect to see ridhima's ego take a more realistic approach and perhaps puncture that balloon around her!

armaan and anjali's ego respond only to the super ego or the father figure. their egos are a direct product of the admonishing super ego in their lives. in armaan's case, while admonidhing may not be the most precise term to use, it is definitely a super ego that in its absence made the ego fend for itself. and thus results in a defensive ego, one that creates around the id, a protective balloon of confidence carefully governed by an awareness of the super ego. the difference in the balloons...while ridhima's balloon is her id itself, armaan's and anjali's balloons are around the id, the id in their cases is still respectable in size!!

sharika, interesting point about constant approval from the one you idolise, the super ego, resulting in a refusal to accept disapproval. yes, and as has been discussed in fall from grace and derisive, that the super ego in ridhima's case does not direct her towards a complete and real sense of morality is what drives her ego to condemn any attack on the id!!!!

@ notty, just noticed the last line of your post...you are a mom to a 2 yr old too????????? a big understanding hug to you!!! we call ours the tsunami...so urs is a thunderstorm, eh? will look forward to more participation from you the next 5 days then!!!! and pay attention to he/she says. sometimes they can come up with the smartest things....sharika remember the butterfly analogy????

I just read conversation between u n shakira di in the last page n i think ridhima's character is suffering from major EGO SYNDROME....... she is very egoestic.......n to save her ego now she will use this new guy.......who i m sure will be stuck ti her like '' FLY TO GURH'' 😆 😆 n will show her stars after she will ditch him for armaan [sure shot track to come] 😆 😆

N armaan will use that gal to make ridz jealous...... n story will go on 😆

But u said it right ridz is crossing her limits to save her fake ego.........like that night incident.......anyways i can add this much only....... coz rest is said by all of u............
