Aarti: THank you for that insight... trust you to always clear the hazy clouds when mind wanders off on different tangents... and yeah that bit sense of calm... I suppose I jus didnt get the right words... oh blame my horrible short term memory and meds... I am always so lost for words... and also the sense of calm always settles in... when we have been fortunate enough to enough fair amount of the sense of being liked followed by acceptance you said... hmm...

You are always welcome to chip in, meri jaan!! Hmm, so you've heard from some of your friends about real life characters like this?? I feel bad for your friends as well for having to put up with characters like this...If I think really hard, I can vaguely recall this one girl I knew who might have been somewhat like this...but then I'm weird like that...if someone irritates me that much, I distance myself quite quickly...out of mind, out of sight๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†....Possibly what gives me my reputation of being a bit of a weirdo recluse๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

@Aarti: Really?? Wow!! I guess I really should be thankful then! The only superficiality I currently have to jhelo is that of Miss High and Mighty Riddhima ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜†

I can't stand superficial people!! I'd prefer to be alone rather than have the gaggle of superficial friends that I know most ppl around me have. It saddens me to see the amount of superficiality that exists in society today...Makes me wonder if it's increased over the years...or I just never saw it when I was a kid.

Agree with Aarti and Sareeta there. It is nice to be liked. We all crave for it. Acceptance does give us a sense of calm but oh to be liked as well. It hurts if someone doesnt like you. Liked the bit about human mind identifying with the tangible more easily than the intangibles. he he to take off on a totally different tangent that is why we have idol worship. It gives us something tangible and identifiable to start with and focus on. Our elders or spiritual gurus had the perception or the foresight that to begin with you needed that before proceeding to the intangible concepts or philosophies of atman, paramatman or the consciousness of the divine or whatever it is you prefer to call it. It was meant to be a stepping stone to understanding higher realms of consciousness. However maybe it just got stuck there and in some cases degenerated and served the purpose of a select few.

Oh sorry if I am going totally off tangent and no offense to anyone or anyones relegious sensibilities.

we dream of a day when armaan and ridhima reach that stage of mature love. they may both dislike each other currently but the need for them to embrace that dislike as just an extension of their own personality and not a vice in the other is de rigueur. armaan already acknowledges that he loves ridhima, he needs to establish that he loves her in spite of and not just for....ridhima on the other hand, first needs to acknowledge and then accept!!!

We all turn out a certain way in life our personalities shaping up under the influence of people, experiences, likes, dislikes. When looking out for that someone special we look for the best fit more like a new set of clothes, that we think will suit our personality. We attribute the sum total of physical, intellectual, moral plus a few more measures of compatibilty with 'liking' which is then invariably accompanied by expectations. What we sometimes fail to consider into our calculations is the huge measure of the intangible emotional sentiment of love may that may outweigh this carefully measured liking. While liking comes with expectations love comes inevitably with acceptance! If one is not able to accept and see beyond the likes/dislikes in the other then it is safe to assume that it is not love. With family ties this acceptance is inherent like the blood. In strangers it is inculcated by the will of the heart and soul.

anu...who likes superficiality??? but again back to acceptance!! the superficilaity of our frined irritated the life outta us initially, over 8 years, we have just resigned to the fact the she will never grow up. mind she is just superficial when it comes to her idea of mr. right...she is otherwise quite the sensible creature!!!

Very beautifully said. Liked the bit about liking coming with expectation and love with acceptance and acceptance inculcated by the will.

gina, excellent example to elucidate the concept of being able to comprehend the tangible. it isn't like we do not possess the ability to get a hold on the intangible. it is just that we always try and find an escape hatch around the complicated process involved!!!

and boy does it hurt when someone says they don't like you. no amount of cajoling that it makes no difference to their love ever seems to make up for the dislike!!! till much later of course...
