Part 46-IOTM 😃

Next Day
'Welcome Interns, Staff Members and Doctors! This is the first Intern of the Month Award for this year! There was touch competiton especially between Drs. Armaan and Ridhima. Both performed quite well! They have improved and learned alot, proven by their actions! But sadly only one intern can win this award and this month that intern is Dr...Armaan Malik for handling the case of Miss.Minnie Sharma so very well! Her improvement may have been gradual but it has been positive. Congratulations Dr.Armaan!...' said Dr.Shishank smiling at his daughter's close win, but grinning even broader to know that Drs. Rahul and Juhi's son had won Intern of the Month. A very prestigious award! They would have been so proud of their little boy today! Armaan walked up on the stage..a smile of victory on his face..not for the reason others thought but for another personal reason. Dr.Shishank handed him the plaque, smiling and shook hands with Armaan. Armaan smiled and thanked all his collegues!

Later..

Armaan walked in the hallways as Atul, Anjali, Shabd and Sapna crowded him. Atul gave Armaan a huge hug and wouldn't get off until Anjali pulled him off with the help of Shabd. Sapna gave him a hug and so did Shabd. Anjali smiled, gave him a quick hug and said,'You know my sister could have beaten you any time!' with a hint of naughtiness.
'Any time..I'm ready,' Armaan said to Anjali, 'But little does she know that she has already won everything of mine..I have nothing that belongs to me its all hers!' he whispered to himself.

'By the way..where is Basket?' asked Armaan, pulling out of the hug!

'I don't know..she had a pager as soon as she came out. Emergency, I think!' said Anjali smiling.

'Oh..well I am gonna um..go and put the..plaque..in my..locker!' said Armaan..walking towards the locker room.

Emergency Ward

'Dr.Ridhima..this patient is having an appendicitis and the surgery is a must. I have decided to let you do the surgery..get ready..in ten minutes please be in the OT!' said Dr.Kirti addressing Ridhima.

Ridhima nodded and smiled a little..worried!

OT...

'Sister..please hand me the scalpel!' said DR.Ridhima, sticking her hand out for the tool. Finding it in her hand..she carefully made an incision in the patients stomach..near the appendix. Right side...

After the surgery..

'Congratulations Mrs. Grewal..the surgery was a success..your daughter is being moved to the general ward and is unconsious right now. In about an hour she shall be conscious and you can take her home!' said DR.Ridhima. 'Though I suggest she take complete rest for the stitches to remain closed!'

Dr.Ridhima smiled at the mother who seemed tensed to see her daughter feeling so vomitted and in pain...her own mother would have been the same. Ridhima wiped away a tear and went to clean up. She peeled the gloves off her hands and smiled a small smile. She cleaned up and went towards the locker room. There sat Armaan on the bench, cross-legged, one hand under his chin, looking bored..a little angry. Ridhima smiled at his playful behavior and headed towards her locker. She took out a case file, and began studying it.

*Ahem*Ahem*..the noise echoed around the empty room as Ridhima looked up from the case file. There was Armaan, faking a cough to get her attention. She smiled and began reading the case file again..teasing him. He again coughed. She again ignored him. At last he got irritated and got on his feet. He walked up to Ridhima and held her from the arms. She looked into his eyes and said, 'Do you need something?'

He nodded his head..unwilling to talk straight. 'I need something that is rightfully mine but you are yet to give it to me!'
Ridhima looked at him confused. Then she smiled. 'Ooh..' and she reached into her locker and pulled out..nothing. 'I dont have anything that is rightfully yours that is currently in my possession..sonny boy!' and she left, rolling her tongue in her mouth, smiling.

'We will see about that Dr...Basket!' Armaan tasted the words on his tongue as he said his name for her.

Cafe..

'Hey Armaan!' said Anjali. She went and sat down next to Armaan.
'Hey Angie!' said Armaan, looking a bit bored.
'So..hows are plan going?' she said..looking around and dropping her voice to a whisper.
'You dont even know about the plan!' said Armaan, looking at her with a what-do-you-know-look.
'Armaan..do you really think Angad is the man he seems to be..he is worse the us girls..he has to tell someone a secret within the 24 hours..and yesterday in the dance compeition he was crying!
Armaan gave her look thinking, 'kahan phas gaye? Acha kaisa tha Basket ka deewana ab toh uske liya itna sab kuch! Hai Bhagwhan!'
'Kya soch rahe ho Armaan?' said Angie, biting into an apple.
'Oh..nothing..nothing!' he said smiling. 'Angie..Angad ka phone kab ayega! We need to see if our plan is working!' Just the Armaan's phone rang and he picked it up.over-joyous.

'Hey..Angad jaldi batha na kya hua!' said Armaan..very anxious to know the details.
'She said yes..' Angad replied, smiling a little.
'Tell me how you did it..I mean you better not have..you know..dropped too many hints!' said Armaan.
'Well..I said 'Do you want to hang sometime?' and she was like 'Yah..Id like that!' and then I was like..'Ill see you at Green Lettuce around eight o'clock' she nodded her head and left!' said Angad..proud of his style.
'You idiot..stupid! You gave her so many hints!' Armaan hissed into the phone.
'No..I said if she would like to hang..I didn't say go out and I said Ill see you there at 8 o'clock not pick you up. See the difference my bro!' said Angad.
'Yah..I see the difference between me and you..Im way smarter and my skills aren't rubbing on you!' Armaan whispered..annoyed in the phone. 'Argh!'
'Don't worry bro..I got it all under control! You wait and watch our plan be a success!' said Angad, this time grinning an evil smile.
'I can see it being a flop right now! Anyways..better tighten things up soon!' said Armaan and hung up.

'Hey Di..I need to talk to you,' said Ridhima..' in private!' she added, glancing at Armaan nervously..no smile.
Armaan's smile dropped to not see her smile back and was worried..what could she want to talk about?

Locker Room

'Yo..Basket!' said Armaan, strolling into the locker room, casual..totally at ease.
Ridhima returned his casualness with a look that said WHAT?..totally annoyed.
'I was just wondering..remember two weeks ago..I asked you out..and you..' he ended lousily.
'Yes I remember..anything else?' she turned to face him, blank look again.
'Basket..whats wrong?' said Armaan..really very concerned.
'Nothing..' she replied.
'Then why aren't you smiling?' he asked..wanting to get to the root of the problem.
'Armaan..I said nothing!' and she turned and left the room.

Armaan thought what was her deal just then Shabd and Atul walked into the locker room. They exchanged looks and said, 'Hey Armaan..we were wondering if you wanted to..um go hang with us in a club or something!' said Shabd.

'Haan club!' said Atul, smiling.
'Champ..tu aur club! What's up with the new change?' Armaan said in a oye-hoye style.
' Dost..I too need time off sometimes!' said Atul, with an innocent smile.
'Oh..okay lets go!' said Armaan.

Car...

Shabd took a left turn..
'Um..I dont think there is any club that way dude!' said Armaan..looking around suspiciously.
'Um..dude they just built a new one..don't you know..and..' said Shabd, nervous..looking at Atul for help.
'And..Dost today is the grand opening!' he replied. 'We got free tickets!'
'Tickets? For a club..sounds weird too me!' said Armaan..getting even more suspicious.
'Uh..tickets cause..cause..' said Atul..hoping Shabd would smooth over his screw up.
Shabd gave Atul a murderous look and said,'You..see Armaan..dude..they are giving out tickets..cause it's a grand opening..and its really cool..and full..too many people..you know!'
'Hm..if its such a big deal..then how come I haven't heard of it?' said Armaan..deciding to question Shabd and Atul just for their annoyance..he had figured out in the locker room that they weren't going to a club...but somewhere else. He had agreed to go along just to see what the two had in plan.
'Um..Dost..you know you were really busy..not much time to find out about stuff like this!' said Atul.
'Um..wouldn't you two be busy too?' said Armaan..leaning back and enjoyed every bit of the teasing.
'I recieved three tickets in the mail..thats how I knew!' said Shabd. 'Oh and look we are here!'

He pulled into a full parking lot..but the area seemed dead..nothing like a club.

'Where are all the chicks..I mean music and stuff!' said Armaan..remembering his college days and how he used to go to clubs all the time. He did more partying then studying now that you think of it!

'Just come!' said Atul and pulled him out of the car.
