i wouldn't exactly call this kind of father selfish..but he sure doesnt put his daughter's happiness before society's censure thats for sure
and lack of passions is not happiness..white is not absence of color similary happiness is not absence of problems...adaptation and adjustments and believing that this is ur fate is fatalism..telling ur mind and heart this is the man with whom i have to spend the rest of my life and conditioning urself to do that....i wont call it happiness...

Never once did Riddhima go and tell Dr. Shashank that she wanted to go back to Armaan. When he first met her, after he came back from his vacation, she said "Kya aap Armaan ko wapas bhej deinge? Kya aap Sid ko mujhe thalak deine se rokenge?" (sry for the bad spelling 😊 )

Shashank is trying to do exactly like that. Shashank never forced Riddhima to do anything. She agreed to marry Sid. When the whole marriage with Sid issue came up, Sid and Riddhima were friends remember. She didn't hate him then. Shashank was thinking about the long run. His daughter was suffering, Armaan wasn't going to come back and he saw that Sid was the only one who could teach her to live again and give her back her respect and all that stuff.

Of course, I'm just 18 so what do i know right? But wait, Riddhima was starting to enjoy her life and marriage with Sid just before Armaan showed up. So I guess Dr. Shashank did make the right decision.

The whole, let your kids make their own mistakes, is fine for smaller things, but something like this which has the potential to ruin your child's life is not a situation where this philosophy can be applied. I keep telling my dad to let me make my own decisions and to let me make my own mistakes and most of the time he lets me but if it was something big like this, he would never let me ruin my life.

Last point, as has been mentioned earlier, 2.5 years of love between Armaan and Riddhima does not measure up to the years and years of love between Shashank and Riddhima. Shashank has all the right to guide and advise Riddhima. If Riddhima decides to take that advice then you can't say that she is being forced to follow a certain decision. She trusts her dad to do the right thing.

I know going against the society is not easy, believe me I have a long experience in that, but sometimes taking the hard way can in the be better for you. I have many times taken the hard and sometimes very painful way but in the end it was worth it.

i know what u mean...but however far we move on...we still move in circles...societys and peoples views about marriage are hide bound...just check some of the views aired on this forum...and these are all educated, thoughtful people!!!
the best one i read today...Sid is her husband and he has the right to behave with her in whatever way he wants...is there anything else left to say after this???

To the mystic.. Ridhimas parents forced her to try commit suicide.. On one side she cudnt say no to her parents and in the other was her love for Armaan and a guy she did not want to marry! She saw only one way out because her parents were nt supporting her! Yea it was a wrng step but her parents shud have triedto undestand her and give her heart time to heal!

And with regards to sid.. She started to accept the truth not fall for him! Like she always says that sid is her sachai! Dnt u remember the fireescape scene when she almost kissed Armaan but sids mother had to ruin it! And her tears and running away from sid when he asked if she still loves Armaan!

@bookworm.abhi...and what makes u soo sure that divorce with sid is a wrong decision that will destroy and ruin her life ???
And one more thing...shashank, more than anyone has been a witness to the kind of love, devotion and committment AR share..he has seen it all up close...armaan and ridhima's happiness is a surity for him and he knows that...so if its his daughter's happiness in the long run then why gamble it with a man like Sid who already has done plenty like clicking those pictures and what not and why not let her be with the man ..whose love and loyalty he is assured of.....
the point here...he and his daughter will have to face the society ...and he is not ready to do that...

All imma say is that I just don't believe Riddhima is in love anymore. Free her (she already is), and she still will not go back to Armaan. She aint the same no more, and she will never be. Just when she was falling for Siddhanth, Armaan comes back and Siddhanth decides to leave her which is pinching her. I don't know what'll happen in the future, but from what I am shown, it's only Armaan being delusional and assuming Riddhima's happiness lies within him, when it may not be the case. Has it ever bothered him that she may not want to be with him? Her happiness may not lie with Siddhanth either, but as a father, Shashank wants Siddhanth - Riddhima to work their marriage out, an advice a marriage counselor often gives too. Plus the court also always gives a grace period to couples who wish to divorce....marriage is not just a sacred bond, legal issues are involved too, but I doubt DMG CVs are aware of it.
Shashank is not concerned about the society right now, but rather is alarmed after witnessing the state of his daughter and the hasty decisions she's making purely on impulse that can ruin her.
...Shashank hasn't asked her to make the marriage work, or else go to Mars. The girl still has a choice....if she doesn't want to be with Siddhanth, then she can mouth no. Shashank is only fulfilling her request which was to 'stop the divorce' if I recall correctly. When he mentioned the seven months grace period, both sighed a relief, because even they know that they are acting like morons.

he just did that to make her realize how it really feels when yor reputation is at stake(though im not condoning his actions)...cmon she was hurling false accusations at him

aur waise bhi didnt Armaan try to do the same...when riddhima played the rape prank .,...he went to her house toactually to teach her a lesson

you know i have nothin against Armaan or sid,,,

but you ppl just need a thing to criticise sid...why cant you guys for once see from other POV too

I'm not sure which is why i said that it has the potential to ruin her life.
If you think about it, then the way she is acting, it doesn't seem as if she is gonna go back to Armaan. She thinks she doesn't want to go back to Sid. So maybe she'll decide to be alone her whole life after going through such trauma. I guess that could be considered a ruined life in her father's eyes. hopefully this makes sense 😃
