It was not just india which stopped airing pak shows.
It has nothing to do with over-nationalism. Zindagi still had good turkish shows which had bolder content than pak dramas and still people stopped watching it. Its more like people loose interest after sometime. Even if they kept on airing pak dramas after a point people will be done with it. Humsafar had mahira and fawad as the leads and they were already quite famous in india so people who dont regularly watch zindagu would have also tunned in to watch it. Zindagi gulzar hai was a much better show but didnt had that much trp because it aired before fawad made his debut in bwood.

True. Pakistan had discontinued all Indian series airing on its networks , which literally accounted for 50% or more airtime on their channels like ARY Zindagi, APlus, GEO Kahani and Urdu1, etc. The thing is that for some reason, Pakistan loves the saas-bahu Indian dramas 😕

I guess its like 'its greener on the other side'. Pakistanis may be done watching simple and realistic storyline so they want to see unrealistic larger than life indian shows and indians were done with unrealistic indian shows and liked the simplicity of pak shows😆
But i have noticed one thing there are regressive content in pak serials as well. In all the dramas i have seen the rich girl will always be a bitch and her dressing is vulgur even though she is just seen wearing a simple jeans and top and that too with sleaves. The guys mostly will be mcp and always want to be the alpa male.

Even in kdramas i have seen that they over glorify the male lead. Esp the ones before 2012 or 2013. I have seen only very few kdramas were the leads were shown as equals or where the female lead had the upper hand in a relationship and the lead guy was perfectly fine with it.

In indian dramas its mostlt over glorification of the female lead than the male lead. They are mostly superwomen who can do anything and everything 😆

I think Pakistani shows are slightly higher quality in that they tend to be very emotionally deep. Similar to the early days of DSJZ. Most Indian shows tend to be relatively superficial when it comes to emotion. Indian shows don't do complexity. Even DSJZ ended up being far too black/white compared to the Turkish version. But I do agree Pak shows veer on the regressive side or alternatively can be incredibly dark with horrific abuse being inflicted on the women.

Admittedly I have really fallen for Turkish shows thanks to DSJZ. Ask I memnu was a little dark but beautifully done. I just finished Cesur ve Guzel which for me was just the right balance. Incredibly complex story. Also I think I just relate to the character lifestyles more than I do with Indian, Pakistani or even K dramas.

While I loved Ask-i memnu I feel it was always too controversial a topic to do really well on Indian TV. It would-be been better to pick something like Cesur ve Guzel to copy. I really think that would've worked far better because it has a lot of elements the Trp aunties would love.

pak dramas are better because they dont get stretched and are finite series.
i have only seen 2 turkish dramas ask-i-memnu and ask laftan anlamaz. i know the entire story of askimemnu and seen it here and there.
ask laftan anlamaz has absolutly gorgoeus leads and everyone in droolworthy but the story gets way too boring after 10-11 episodes. also tukish dramas are way too long to watch online. each episode is 2 hours long.
i agree ask-i-memnu is too bold for indian tv but it could have still worked if the channel and makers didnt mislead the viewers. only the people who are active online knew the real stoy. they overpromoted anant-ahana as the main couple when its actually the forbidden love story of rehana. if they didnt want to reveal the real story they should have atleast just promoted ahana's character in promos and tell its the story of ahana. if they promoted rehana from the start dsjz could have atleast had a very strong online fanbase in india. not many people were aware of the show and not everyone who noticed the promos were interested in the old man young girl love story.

Agree with you that pak dramas are way better than turkish dramas.Because of Zindagi tv watched some turkish drama like fatmagul, kuzey guney ,love story. In that Fatmagul was gripping well the other too after apoint becomes boring as u mentioned its 1 and half hour to 2 hours long.
I watched the latest show of Engin akyurek the hero of Fatmagul olene kadar last year online that was good and lasted only 13 episodes because of poor rating there ,but it had good story but later mafia was introduced and they screwed it,but 13 episodes so ok.
As for Ask i memnu even I watched the entire show in urdu dubbibg so the episode were 40 mins total 160 episodes. But each episode had 20 to 25 mins given to servant story so most of the time i fast forwarded the story also in the original nusrin gets married all those episodes I fast forwarded so it does tend to get boring specially when you are making an effort to watch it online.

Now I am thinking of watching new Pak dramas online like yakkeen ka safar.dariye dil etc atleast it will end in 22 to max 26 episode.

I am not that much into pak dramas. Have seen only 2 or 3 of them out of which i only liked zindagi gulzar hai. It was an absolutely amazing drama and i liked the acting and characterisation of the female lead. She acted way better than fawad.
I think compared to pak dramas turkish dramas are not that regressive. I have seen 2 dramas and in both the female leads dresses were quite bold but no one looked down at them for what they wear which is a rarity in asian dramas. Even in korean dramas female leads are not shown wearing revealing clothes eventhough women there are very petite and donot look vulgar at all. They are way too petite to even look sexy.

But out of all the dramas i like korean dramas that too the ones from 2013-2014 onwards. I guess around that time they started to air the dramas on western countries ad well so the over glorofication of male leads kind of got subtle. I have seen 2 or 3 kdramas 4-5 yrs ago but didnt like it. Boys over flowers was one of it and i absolutley hated it. Stayed away from korean stuff after that. Then about an year ago i started watching korean movies which eventually ended in watching a lot of kdramas. Dramas like w two worlds and strong woman do bong soon has very unique and amamzing storyline. Their fantasy genres are very unique.

Agree with you priya ,that Turkish ladies are mod and I am also surprised being a muslim country they are very modern in approach because of european influence.
As for pak drama because of Zindagi channel for 3 yrs I was hooked to it,though some dramas were regressive, and boring I skipped that. But I came to know all their actors name .Most of them are brilliant actors and also the ost of most drama is so good some I have downloaded ,some are so touchy and emotional u get goosebumps hearing specially the drama Rihaee.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96wetVaZq_g
I can recommend you some good drama to watch the above is one of them. The actor Noman ijaz can be called sanjeev kumar of Pakistan,he is brilliant he does positive, negative ,old and young all roles. Here he is in negative role and then there is Badi apa where he plays henpecked husband and you will surprised by his acting.
As for Zindagi gulzar hai was the first drama aired on zindagi tv.Even i liked Sanam saeed acting more than fawad. You can watch his telefilm which is 2 hrs called Beyhad which also stars Sajal ali who played Sridevi's daughter in mom.The other actor in the same film Adnan siddique also good actor watch Mere humdum mere dost its lovestory with age difference but beautifully directed.

Some darmas ost are taken from our old hindi movies Like Pyare afzal ost, this drama is long 37 episode but there something unique about this drama about one sided love which cannot be explained unless you watch also dialogues, acting top notchThe song is taken from Pyaasa movie,

This show was the exact copy of a dubbed Turkish show on Indian TV and I dreaded watching it each day knowing what had happened in the Turkish show - the old man threw his young wife out in the end and the adopted boy ended up marrying the daughter.

In a way I'm glad this show fast-tracked the discovery of Rehans love - is it really ended ?

at the end of the turkish drama the girl kills herself on the wedding day of the guy and the guy dont get married to the old man's daughter. he blames himself for the death of the girl and decides to live a lonely life as a punishment

the show had an open ending and there are chances for a s2 but there is no guarantee for it. there might be some 30-40% chances of s2. the actress playing laila said on her ig that she is hoping for a s2
