Anant and Aahana's Successful Marriage was never the Aim!

Hello fellow Dil Sambhal Jaa Zara watchers, like all even I was attracted to this serial because of the unusual story(Young girl falling in love with an elderly man...be it Cheeni Kum or Kuch Toh Log Kahenge), beautiful casting and the glamour. Never followed it from the start but binge watched it on hotstar after a friend recommended.
What attracted me the most was Sanjay Kapoor and Smriti Kalra's chemistry. And like most I got emotionally involved in them.
As a Aahant fan last week's been stressful... Hence kept searching for spoilers etc. But instead came across an article which included Vikram Bhatt's interview. He said that the serial was supposed to be about how Aahana's marriage with Anant was the biggest mistake of her life. Personally was shattered after reading that...but my feelings are not the point...
The point is Anant and Aahana's Successful Marriage was never the Aim of the serial. So the serial I believe is going to show more of demerits of the marriage. Hence I would request all the Aahant fans to prepare yourself for fights and negativity in their relationship. I would also love to see the Rehaan - Aahana track too as I hope their closeness would make Anant jelous and make him realise how foolish and impulsive he is.
And lastly I personally don't want Aahana to kill herself in the end just because she couldn't be with Rehaan like what happened in the original serial as that would totally be contradictory to her personality and would be so foolish.
Thank you people for reading this lengthy viewpoint of mine. I hope I haven't offended anyone.
Here's the link to the article.

P.s - Sanjay Kapoor and Smriti Kalra really rocked the romantic scenes.

welcome to the forum! 😊
M sure u'll love the story of rehaan n ahana, how they handle their feelings for each other would be interesting to watch!
me too think that Ahana killing herself for rehaan would be against her character, i think if she kills herself then it wld be for falling in love with rehaan, cheating Anant n becoming like her own mom so maybe she'll kill herself bcz of the guilt!

Thank you.. Finally found a platform to discuss and place my view points.I am kind of excited for the Rehaan Aahana track too...Yeah I totally get the guilt thing but frankly dosent want to see such a Smart, Modern, Blunt, Calling Spade a Spade character of Aahana killing herself...
Anyways totally disappointed with her going to temple like a Balaji bahu, ringing bells, asking for answers from God and especially the Pyaar Ki Nishani Thing.

That temple scene was a complete rip off from balaji shows and looked awkward. It didnt go well with the style of the drama.
I personally think star plus and the makers misguided the viewers by showing anant and ahana as a the main couple and kind of like an eternal lkve story. Except for one promo which kind of indicated ahana will regret the marriage every other promo gave a positive vibe for anant and ahana relation.
For people active in sns and have seen the original one might know the real story but they are in minority.

I totally get why ahana commits suicide. All her decisions regarding her life were wrong. Married the wrong guy, fell in love with the worng guy, realising that she is way too similar to her mother and ended up being everything she didnt wanted to be. Being with rehaan was the only happiness and that too ended. Realizing he is never gonna pick her over roshini and anant. All these are more than enough for her to fall into depression.

Yeah...Aahana and Anant's relationship is not the main aim of this show...I think the makers really wanted to gain trp and misguided the viewers by not executing the scenes accurately. I actually see no similarity between cheeni kum and Ananat-Ahana here...in Cheeni Kum, there was genuine love and instant compatibility. Both Tabu and Amitabh's characters were very honest with themselves and each other...you can see none of it here...both of them rushed into the marriage without giving it a proper thought...even now, Ahana being all happy for being pregnant and saying that she loves him so much, you can see the desperate attempt from her side to prove her mother wrong. That is why she does not want this relationship to fail at this point in her life. Ahana has done no introspection really to try and understand her feelings and be honest with herself. I don't think she is madly in love with Anant. If they stick to the original story line, you will see how she madly falls in love with Rehaan and the layers of her personality are revealed. She keeps going back to him despite the red flags.

That brings me to the next point. Honestly, I think the ending of the original series was very convincing. I am not glorifying the suicide, but when they reveal the layers of Ahana's personality, you will understand why she committed suicide. I won't reveal too much of the story. But deep down, she really craves for love and that is what made her happy at the end of the day. Unfortunately, her happiness is short-lived. Her life just became a huge mess at the end due to all the complications.

I would really recommend if you want to enjoy the series, keep an open mind to the way the story flows. This is not the typical drama that we are used to watching on Indian tv. Nobody is dhudh ka dhoola hua and mahaan here. The series really explores real human emotions...everyone is selfish to some extent and thinks from their perspective, even our own people...it also shows how making right choices along the way is so important...it shows that we may make wrong choices, but the actions that we take after realizing the wrong choice also decides the course of our life. I hope star plus for once forgets about the trp and really focuses on the quality and content. Poor execution and unnecessary drag within an episode at times doesn't allow me to enjoy the series as much as I enjoyed watching the original version.

finally someone who shares my views...I guess you have seen the original version...anyways, just wanted to say your reply is so apt...i wish the makers stop glorifying Anant-Ahana relationship like an eternal love story,,,they should just keep it as subtle as possible like a normal marriage

Yess... I am definitely not getting emotionally involved in any couple for m henceforthbut the thing is You are so used to 'And they lived Happily Ever After ' that you kind of start expecting only good things for couples.
They actually glorified Anant and Aahana's relationship so much in the beginning that people who haven't watched the actual promo or who haven't seen the original serial kind of feel that yess these two are that m ade for each other pair and should never separate.Ireckoneventhe makers wouldn't have thought that Sanjay and Smriti would gel sowell and give some good scenes. Yeah Aahana is totally messed up and she really dosent know what she actually wants in life apart from revenging her mum.
Btw had come across a spoiler that said that Laila isn't her real mum. Isit ? Is it what happened in the original serial too?

Yeah, some of the scenes were OTT...only the first promo conveyed the plot line...also, they sidelined Rehaan's character in the beginning for too long...the episodes are only 30 minutes and the story is going at a very slow pace...so somehow they needed to make sure they show the interactions between Rehaan and Ahana while they were building Ahana-Ahant relationship...because audience sees something for too long, they tend to get attached and forget the main storyline

If they stick to original storyline, Laila is Ahana's real mother and she truly loves her..it's just that she doesn't truly understand her daughter or her happiness, so she forces her opinions and views on Ahana and tries to control her life the way she feels is right for Ahana... she doesn't fall in the category of the conventional, good mothers we see on tv...
