Who is Gauri?
Gauri, the consort of Lord Shiva, symbolises Shakti in Hindu mythology...Shakti signifying strength...power..she is a destroyer of evil and darkness. She carries a Trident as a weapon in one hand, a lotus in the second, a Dumroo in the third...and blesses all and protects with the fourth hand. 😊
Gauri Kumari Ssarma...a woman of substance
This character indeed is a woman of substance. A woman of substance needn't be a highly educated woman working in a big corporate sector and earning in millions.
Rather a Woman of Substance may be an orphaned, small town girl, who doesn't have much of a formal education, yet capable enough to look after herself by her sheer determination. Her petite physical appearance is compensated by her sheer mental strength and resolution. Her mind works in a calculated manner and her reactions are measured ones. She knows her strengths and weaknesses...and utilises the former very skilfully and aptly to undermine her weaknesses.
She has the capability to take her step-mother to the hospital single-handedly and pay for the expenses...and also transport a stranger (who has harmed her the most) to a safe place.
She has the capacity to deal with professional goons single-handedly...while protecting her close acquaintances. 👏
The Comparison...
So here lies the comparison...Like the Goddess...this common girl has the proficiency to deal with the Evil (as the Goddess uses her Trident)...as well as acting as an armour for her loved ones and the innocent (just like the Goddess protects) 😊
This Womaniya is here to stay...a beautifully etched character...and I just pray that the beauty of this character is not sacrificed just for the sake of TRPs.
