@shruthi my name itself is gowri just because I was born on that day!! loll!
Another significance of we konkanis not putting salt in some of the dishes made on gowri poojan day!
My aunt said that it is beacause when sati goes to yagna to her fathers house she makes bhajji upkari(curry) and in a hurry she forgot to put salt so we make three salt less items one is bhajji upkari another is kheeri not the normal kheer it is cooked with haldi leave in it and is really very tasty even if no salt or anything in it! and patholi the same thing which shruthi described in the start!!
My mom says it is because parvati when she went to her sasural forgot to take salt and when she made her first dish kheeri it was saltless! lol!
I donno which is totally true I will ask our pandit ji!
