Actor: Mohit Raina
Character: Lord Shiva
Serial: Devon Ke Dev Mahadev
Time taken: 1 hr 15 min
A heavy wig, a leopard print dress, rudraksh accessories and a rubber snake wrapped around him takes actor Mohit Raina a good one hr 15 minutes in the makeup room every time he dons the avatar of Lord Shiva. "Earlier it used to take two hours. But now with practice, the time span has reduced," informs the actor. "It's quite a cumbersome task. At times we shoot for 12 to 15 hours, so wearing the heavy wig for such a long time is tiring. I was aware before taking up the role that I will have to put in extra efforts when it comes to dressing as I'm portraying a mythological character. But the positive response of the audience has boost my morale," adds Raina who was reluctant of taking up the role initially.

Actor: Sonarika Bhadoria
Character: Goddess Parvati
Serial: Devon Ke Dev Mahadev
Time taken: 1 HR 30 min

Portraying Goddess Parvati is no easy feat for Sonarika as it takes her about one and a half hours to get the right look. "My sari needs to be draped in a different manner and as it is not a pre-stitched one, so it takes quite a while to drape it right." But equally tough for the actress is removing the entire get-up. "I just wait to get rid of the heavy wig. As soon as the final shot is over, I take it off immediately while still on the sets. As for the makeup, I remove it on my way back home."

How can anyone take that long? I take 2-5 minutes to dress after a shower, and in the event I'm dressing up for a formal occasion, 15 minutes MAX. Granted I don't act, but what does Mohit do for 75 minutes?

^^^ No, I don't mind at all, this was funny 😆 but even if I were to wear those things, how long could it take? The tiger skin would like putting on a pant, and there'd probably be buttons or zippers inside to put it together. Wigs these days are like hats - put it on your head, and then some attaching it. Rudraksh bands - like putting on your watch and neck chains. Make-up I agree takes a while, but I've not noticed any ashes on Mohit - in fact, there was no mention of it above. The rubber snake too seems a piece of cake - a real snake I guess could take 2 hours.

I don't doubt that there's a good explanation. Just wondering what it is.

45 mins for the hairdo and makeup (yes make up is applied on actors too. Hehe) and 30 mins for the tiger skin, ashes-the costume in short.
That makes 75 minutes.
@subha, u are correct yaar. Lol.

its actually the wig fitting that takes that long-almost every character in DKDM has to wear a wig...they put glue etc to make sure the wig doesnt fall off-imagine if that happens-LOL...i guess it must be taking longer for Mohit since he has short hair, also the mass of the wig is quite a lot-it can easily fall off...hence they have to make it firm..
Mohits actually quite fair, they give him a tan-so i guess that must be taking them time too...
Sonas Saree is an actual drape???it looked stitched!lovely draping i must say..
poor Mohit an Sona have to go through so much for us...i cant imagine wearing wigs that heavy for so long!

Oh God, the conversations here are cracking me.🤣It's an interesting article! I never knew it took that long to dress up before an episode.😲 I remember Debina mentioning in an interview of Ramayan that she was really picky with her looks so she took forever getting ready, but 1 1/2 hour?????😳
This is something mytho actors must deal with that other actors of fictional soaps don't have to. They deal with a lot more makeup and jewelry daily, truly their hard work is applaudable because it's not easy acting with so much stuff on.👏
