thanks a lot minu, can u please sticky this thread and enter it into archives? and we can continue discussion with the rishi's and yogis and yoginis of modern India too? There used to be a book at our house about the sadhaks and sadhikas of India, maybe we can do an online version of it?

There are many Sticky threads, we will keep this active under normal topics & later add it into archives.
We will surely make this an online version😊
King Janaka was also known as Janaka Vaidehi due to his non attachment towards wordly things yet he did run his kindom well & fufilled all his responsibalities.

This is the source.
Our rishi's are great, many kings used to depend a lot on them for advice & guidence. Our Mythos have many such stories. It will be quite enlightening if we explore these Rishi's important contributions too.

thanks, adding it to archives will be enough i guess.

umm, wasn't he called Vaideha or Videha, meaning detached to his body? the reason sita is called Vaidehi? Sorry for being an anal retentive.

You're absolutely right. That's how I understand it too.

Videha is a kingdom...the dynasty was begotten on a dead king (hence Videha, w/o body).

The daughter of Videha = Vaidehi

Mithila was ruled by the Vaidehi dynasty, the kings of which held the title of Janak , and hence the capital of Mithila was called Janakpur.
This explains Janak being called Janak Vaidehi.

Thanks but again sorry for being anal retentive. Isn't Vaidehi grammatically incorrect? Vaidehi( Videha+shna) means child of Videha/ vaideha
So i think, Janak was called Janak Vaideha.
anywho, it won't change anything.
