Dead soul
The people were huddled around the palace gates, they were shouting, raising their voices as they had never done, motivated just by a one mistake she had made. There was no warmth of welcoming in their faces, no kind smiles nothing that would give her courage to move on, maybe after all the mahasaba was right, it was time for her to step down from the throne. But before that she should talk to them once, just once…
"Manyata no wait!"
She felt her hand under the warm pressure of his for a moment, she looked up to see that old concern flicker in his eyes, just for a moment, then that Maharaj Udayveer Singh stared critically at her, and completed his sentence coldly,
"You still don't know the right moment for things your highness"
Yeah he was right; she doesn't know anything, anything at all.
The guards succeeded in the tough job of making space for those cars to move on, and they stooped under the shade of those large pillars that marked the entrance to the royal palace of devgar, finally after a long time she felt home. As they entered a cold breeze swept over her, and a feeling like she had just entered to a graveyard, there was no one waiting for her, the deserted hall seemed to laugh mockingly at her.
"Glad to see you after a long time your highness, where's your little princess Maharaj sa?"
A voice made her jump, it was dai sa the one, the only one waiting for her, without really thinking how desperate she sounds she asked her,
"Where's everyone?"
"They left for London yesterday"
Came the ruthless answer, were they so disgusted by her presence that when she comes they always turns their backs on her?
"She's still in Mumbai" Uday said in reply, "I don't want her to take bad examples while being a princess"
What did she do to deserve so much hatred? How longer will this life of punishments last? She was so broken so broken that the words of mocking were no longer tolerable.
"Are you some sort of virus your highness? That when you come people run away? So sad to be so despised"
She turned to look at him with eyes that reflected a pain that can't be said or heard, that can't be written or read, his jaw tightened seeing her white face, she was about to faint.
"Is that all?" She asked in a broken voice, "Or do you have more words to kill my soul maharaj Udayveer Singh?"
"Man.."
Not letting him say anything she shook her head and left the hall, wiping her eyes as she went. He sighed watching her go, true she was shattered, he felt bad for her, but some part of him was holding him back, telling him that she deserved all this, keeping him from standing at her side, from wiping her tears, asking him why all of a sudden he was needed? He wasn't going to give her any chance to make a fool out of him again, they don't have a connection, or at last he thought so.

It was raining outside as she reached her room, her head felt heavy and her thoughts seemed to faint away, there was a single white rose laying on the bed covers with a note which the writer might have thought will make her feel better.
To my favorite bhai, with loads of love
Vijendra Singh
Clutching the note in to her fist she fell on the bed, letting those tears wash away the royal mask of makeup in her face, to surface the vulnerable girl inside, for once after a long time, it was Monya crying, not her higness Manyata Kumari Sigh.
She had lost everything, every chance the life had given her, every hope her people had for her, she though as she pulled open the glass that separated the room from the large balcony ahead and stepped in to the tapping rain.
The sound of the rain drops that hit her body seemed distant while some other voice filled her ears, a voice of a man; she loved once, of a man who had taught her the toughest lesson in her entire life.
"How can I thank you for being so stupid your highness" He was saying, "Mr. Phillips will have no problem with his project now that you have signed those papers"
She fell to her knees as more voices blocked her ears from the true sounds around her,
"This is what you wanted isn't it princess?" A new voice boomed through her memories, "Here you go, there's no need to act anymore, keep it it's yours!"
The coldness shivered her as she rose up to her feet again; she walked forward like a dead body enchanted to walk, with no hope and no dreams. Her heart screamed with pain, as she understood what being truly along meant, there was no one who would listen, no one who would soothe, no one who would lit up her mood, no one to give her a chance to explain, no one to save her from the world she had just begin to understand.
A hand pulled her, out of her trance in to a warm embrace and close to another live beating heart. For a moment she rested her check against his chest as he carried her away from the ruthless rain, her mind was numb and her thoughts clueless.
"Can't you attempt to suicide in a way which I won't have to take the blame?"
A cold voice asked after a moment.
"Please your highness, grow up!"
Leaving her to feel even worse than she had done moments ago, he left the room, shutting the door behind him, and for the first time she understood that seeing him leave wasn't a joy at all. He was right, it was time to grow up, to act the way they want her to do, to do something. It was time to work.

The office at devgar palace was away from sight for the normal inhabitance of the palace, only someone who wants to enter will walk in to it. She wasn't ready to take dadi sahib's chair just yet, sitting opposite to the large throne like chair she turned the pages over in the files that were meant for her.
The legal documents all seemed to be in order, she read them from line to line yet understanding nothing, and only waves of deep sleep embraced her more and more as she tried.
Her eyes were closed behind those long leashes, her head resting on her shoulder peacefully. It was nearing midnight and he didn't expect to run into such a beautiful sight. A slight breeze that made its way in through the half open window brought soft hairs to cover her face from his peering eyes, she sighed in her deep sleep and her lips twisted in to an innocent smile. Without any reason his heart was beating again, after all those cold five years of non existence it was beating first slowly, then rhythmically and then wildly. Slowly he walked towards her, his footsteps making no noise in the silent midnight, and picked her up in his arms without disturbing her sweet dream.
