In an unusual step, the CBI on Monday termed reports that Rajesh Talwar and his wife Nupur were not present in their house on the night their daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj were murdered as speculative.

"It is clarified that the news item is speculative and not true. Investigation of the case is progressing diligently," a statement issued by CBI said.

The clarification came after Nupur Talwar visited the CBI headquarters and requested the agency to give clarifications regarding the media report.

"I have requested the CBI to make clarifications regarding the report that has been attributed to the agency," Nupur told reporters.
Earlier, a section of the media had reported that the couple were not present at the house on the night of murder and were present at a party in a south Delhi hotel where more than a dozen rooms were booked.

"We were very much present in the house. Neither my husband had booked any room in any hotel in Delhi nor did we spend any time outside our house on that night," she said in a statement.

Nupur said she would be filing complaints regarding this with all concerned authorities to "take action against offending news channels and a section of the print media for airing such brazenly concocted and scurrilously sensational stories, which are damaging to the reputation of the entire family and also of our deceased daughter".

Meanwhile, highly placed sources within the agency claimed that till date not a single piece of evidence has been unearthed against Talwar.

The case, which was transferred to the CBI from the Noida police, has virtually reached a dead-end after a series of scientific tests conducted on the three suspects failed to yield any conclusive results.

uknaik99jilugta hain keh the C.B.I. is closely related to the Noida and U.P. police. They are all full of hot air and no substance. I hope the Talwars sue all these parties and some of the media folks in a Civil Court once this crappy criminal investigation is done and over with. The Talwar's reputation has been totally destroyed by all these parties collectively, and they should be held accountable and liable. Only then will these folks start behaving like responsible cops and journalists. At present they all are acting like the tabloid journalists that fill the supermarket checkout stands.

Hurr cheez kih hudd hoti hain. Inn logokih harkatay toh subb hadday paar kurr chukka hain.

Arushi murder: 38 days on, CBI adds one more to suspect list

NEERAJ CHAUHAN

Posted online: Wednesday, July 09, 2008 at 07:43:39

Updated: Wednesday, July 09, 2008 at 07:43:39

A month and seven days since taking over the Noida double murder investigations, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has added one more serious suspect to its list: Vijay Mandal, a driver employed in the Talwar neighbourhood.

This comes after Mandal's polygraph (lie-detector) test result showed "deception" in his statements, CBI sources said.

Investigators initially probed the possibility of the presence of more than two persons in the Talwar residence on May 15 night, when Arushi and household help were murdered. CBI has already arrested the dentist couple's compounder, Krishna, and family friend Anita Durani's help Rajkumar following "adverse" reports in their lie-detector tests.

But now, with Mandal's lie-detector test report also hinting at the fact that he might be lying, investigators believe he might be hiding facts. Mandal, 24, underwent a polygraph test on June 19, three days after the probe agency picked him up after Krishna reportedly took his name during interrogation.

Mandal is still being interrogated, though CBI has not arrested him yet.

Sources said he has lied about several facts, including his presence in the Talwar house on the night of the murders, and that he changed his statement to say he did not know Krishna and Rajkumar. This, sources said, despite the investigators already having it established that he was a "good friend" of the duo and often met them.

The investigators have already taken Mandal to the crime spot — L-32, Jalvayu Vihar, Sector-25 — several times and he is being repeatedly questioned at the CBI headquarters on Lodhi Road.

Mandal is employed with one Puneet Rai Tandon, a resident of the same block in Jalvayu Vihar.

Sources said the agency might disclose more new facts in the special Ghaziabad court on July 11, when the three accused — Rajesh Talwar, Krishna, and Rajkumar — are produced there. While Rajkumar is in CBI custody Talwar and Krishna are lodged in Dasna Jail.

At this rate all the residents at 25 JulVayu Vihar and maybe everyone in Noida are spending sleepness nights wondering when they will make it to the list of suspects. Inept, blundering, and incompetent C.B.I. 😡😡

Aarushi case: Rajkumar subjected to narco analysis test

NEW DELHI: Rajkumar, an accused in the Noida double murder including that of teenager Aarushi, was on Wednesday subjected to a narco analysis test by the CBI as the mystery to the sensational case was yet to be unfolded. ( Watch )

Rajkumar, domestic help of dentist Rajesh Talwar's family friend Durranis, was subjected to the test at the Forensic Science Laboratory in Bangalore, a CBI spokesman said.

The investigating agency is believed to have acquired certain information related to the case and wanted to corroborate it from him.

Rajkumar, presently under CBI custody, was flown to the Southern city by a team of officials.

The CBI had arrested Rajkumar on June 27 after the forensic examination of his "washed" T-shirt opined that it contains traces of human blood, suspected to be of Aarushi and their domestic help Hemraj.

While producing him before a court earlier, the CBI had claimed that during interrogation Rajkumar had confessed that he had broken and subsequently hidden the mobile phone of Aarushi and can also get the 'Khukri' used in the crime recovered.

CBI had said that Rajkumar would be helpful in order to recover the mobile phones of the victims, murder weapon, clothes etc., and to establish the veracity of his statements given to the agency during the course of investigation.

One more test.. i think the case was solved on the first week of murder. Now money is paying to develop a new version and new culprit... The whole story has come out. Despite of the repeated narco tests conducted on Krishna CBI can only say that Talwar was there in his house at the time of the murder.

Why Talwar is been let out of Narco tests??

Even after so many tests on krishna why CBI is still at the cross roads???

DR Praful Durani said Raj Kumar has been working for them for two years and he had no idea why Raj Kumar was arrested.

On the night of May 15, when Aarushi and Hemraj were murdered, Durani said he had gone to the railway station. "I left for the railway station around 10.15 pm and returned around midnight. We had dinner and went to our rooms. When I woke up the next morning, I saw Raj Kumar in his room. There is a rear exit to the house, which is hardly used and I have the keys to the main door," Durani said.

"I don't think he (Raj Kumar) knew Krishna but it could be possible he knew Hemraj because we used to take him to Talwar's house," Durani said.

Hours before Krishna's CBI remand was to end on Friday, a CBI team led by Joint Director Arun Kumar reached the Talwars' L 32 Jalvayu Vihar residence accompanied by Krishna and Raj Kumar. The team stayed there for around four hours.

Sources said the agency tried to recreate the sequence of events of the murders and after. Talwar's brother, Dinesh and Jagveer Singh of Sector 20 police station also arrived at the house later.

Krishna was produced in the court of Sapna Mishra in Ghaziabad. His six-day CBI remand ended on Friday and the investigating agency requested that Krishna be sent to judicial custody.

Krishna's defence counsel filed three applications in the court on Friday. In the first, he requested a thorough medical examination of the accused, as Krishna had said earlier that he has been tortured and not allowed to sleep during the remand period.

The second application requested the court for Krishna's release. The defence quoted provisions under section 167 CrPC. The defence told the court krishna had been under 'illegal detention', subjected to various medical tests and there was no evidence against him.

The third application was for granting bail to Krishna. The court ordered the hearing on the bail application for June 30.

CBI counsel R.K. Saini told the court that the CBI has a 90-day period to file the chargesheet. The discharge clause is applicable after chargesheet has been filed, so there is no reason for the accused to be released, Saini said.

The court reviewed the case-diary and sent Krishna to 14 days' judicial custody. The court outrightly rejected the defence counsel's provision of section CrPC 167 and said these provisions are not applicable keeping in view the facts mentioned in the case diary.

Court ordered jail authorities to get Krishna's medical examination done and submit a report. V.K. Singh, superintendent of Dasna Jail, said, "Krishna was medically examined. I have given directions to keep Talwar and Krishna in separate barracks and not to allow them to come face to face."

This case is eerily similar to Aarushi. I doubt if the C.B.I. will ever apologies to the Talwars for all that they have subjected this couple too.

Prosecutor: DNA clears JonBenet Ramsey's family

AP 07.09.08, 3:34 PM ET

BOULDER, Colo. - Prosecutors say new DNA tests have cleared JonBenet Ramsey's family in the 1996 killing of the 6-year-old beauty queen.

Boulder County District Attorney Mary Lacy said Wednesday the tests point to an "unexplained third party."

She says prosecutors don't consider any member of the Ramsey family to be a suspect.

JonBenet's parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, were long said to be under an "umbrella of suspicion" in the girl's slaying.

Lacy apologized to the family on Wednesday, saying, "To the extent that this office has added to the distress suffered by the Ramsey family at any time or to any degree, I offer my deepest apology."

John Ramsey, a software entrepreneur, has said in interviews he believes the case will be solved.

Patsy Ramsey died June 24, 2006 of ovarian cancer at the age of 49 in Atlanta, where the family moved after JonBenet's death.

Rajkumar, has been under the scanner ever since blood stains were recovered form his T-shirt.

Also under the CBI scanner are Jeevan, son-in-law of Hemraj and Umesh, driver of Rajesh Talwar.😕

Umesh was also taken in for interrogation on Wednesday at a guest house in Noida, by the CBI.

The Central Bureau of Investigation took over the case almost 2 months ago, but has failed to make any siginificant breakthrough so far.

In jail, Talwar wants to use dentist skill, Krishna 'prays a lot'

NEERAJ CHAUHAN

Updated: Thursday , July 10, 2008 at 10:53:11

Ghaziabad, July 9 2 days before their bail plea is taken up, Newsline visits Dasna Jail to check how Talwar, Krishna spend time

In Dasna Jail for over a month now, Dr Rajesh Talwar wants to put his dentist's skills to use.

"He has asked us more than once whether he can help the jail in any dental treatment," Ram Ji Singh, the jailor of Dasna Jail, told Newsline on Wednesday. "We are thinking of taking his help since we do not have a dentist (in jail); he can also keep himself busy that way."

Newsline visited the jail in Ghaziabad two days before the dentist and his former compounder Krishna, an accused in the murders of Arushi and family help Hemraj, are to be produced in the special CBI court. The court is scheduled to take up their bail applications on Friday.

Lodged in barrack number 7 along with 150 other inmates, Talwar often sits with Singh to "divert his mind from bad memories", the jailor said. Though he shares the barrack with others, special security personal keep round-the-clock watch on the dentist.

Singh said Talwar is reduced to tears every time anyone in jail picks up the topic of Arushi murder case, or when he watches news items related to the case on television. "He seems depressed almost all the time," the jailor said. "He says he first lost his only child, and (on top of that) he is now getting punished. "He worries that his family, his image and his reputation built painstakingly over the years lies in tatters now."

Stressing that Talwar avoids discussing the murder case, another jail official (name withheld on request) said he had once asked the dentist about once about "the truth", and "how come he did not know what was happening in the next room". Talwar, the official said, replied: "I just did not know about it — the only thing I know is Arushi was everything for me, and injustice is being done to me."

Another jail official said: "These days, he looks relaxed and much happier with the progress of the probe. He seems to have gained hope — that justice would be done in the case." ( simply because the noose is tightening around others' neck, i guess😛) While wife Nupur and elder brother Dinesh visit Talwar twice every week, his lawyers come separately. Jail officials said Talwar spends most of his time either watching news on TV (not related to the double-murder) in his barrack or reading newspapers. He also reads "books on his profession and on history of other countries," the jail official said.

Unlike other jails, prisoners in Dasna Jail are not required to do any work and can spend time playing volleyball, cricket and other games. But Talwar, the official said, does not do any of these: "He just keeps reading, or sitting alone."

Jailor Singh said the dentist also takes interest in discussing news related to politics, government and cricket. The only hi-profile prisoner in his barrack, Talwar has requested jail authorities to ensure that he does not "confront or see" his former clinic compounder Krishna, the jailor said. Krishna has been in the same jail since June 13, when the CBI arrested him. He is lodged in barrack number 5, and there is a separate watch on him as well — two jail officials accompany Krishna wherever he goes. A security officer posted outside Krishna's barrack, said, "He does not speak much. He just keeps writing 'Ram, Ram' on a notebook. He spends a lot of time praying."

Krishna's brother visits him.

Bangalore: Rajkaumar undergoes 2nd narco

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today conducted a second narco-analysis test on Rajkumar, an accused in the Arushi-Hemraj murder case, at Forensic Sciences Laboratory (FSL) in Bangalore. The reason he underwent a second test, CBI officials said, was the first one was inconclusive and he is giving contradictory statements during interrogation in custody.

The investigating agency's sleuths today also questioned Jeevan, a close relative of Talwar household Hemraj, the initial suspect in Arushi's murder who was found dead on May 17.

CBI, meanwhile, is still awaiting the report from FSL-Hyderabad on the bloodstained T-shirt sent for forensic examination. The T-shirt was recovered from Rajkumar's room last month. Rajkumar was employed as a help in the Durani household.

Aarushi case: Rajkumar confirms revenge was motive

The narco-analysis test conducted on Rajkumar at Bangalore on Wednesday confirmed that the motive behind Aarushi Talwar's killing was revenge. Aarushi, daughter of Noida dentists Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, and their domestic help Hemraj were murdered at her home on May 16. Her father is one of the accused in the case.

Rajkumar, who is employed as a domestic help by Dr Anita Durrani, a family friend of the Talwars, revealed during his narco test that Krishna, a compounder employed at Dr Talwar's clinic, was upset with his employer and hence wanted to kill Aarushi.

Coverage: The Aarushi murder case

During the test Rajkumar said Hemraj had invited him, Krishna and a man named Shambhu to his quarters at Dr Talwar's home on the night of the murder. While drinking beer together, Krishna told them that he had been insulted by Dr Talwar in front of patients when he had bungled during work. He said Dr Talwar had threatened to sack him.

During their drinking session Krishna is reported to have said, 'I have been working with the doctor for so many years, how could he do that to me? I need to take revenge for that insult.'

Along with Rajkumar and Shambu Krishna went up to Aarushi's room, which strangely was not locked that night. During his narco-test Krishna had said Dr Talwar never trusted anyone and usually kept the room locked.

How and why Aarushi & Hemraj were murdered

Aarushi, Rajkumar said, threatened to expose them at which point Krishna slit her throat with a khukri. They wanted to flee the scene after killing the teenager, but Hemraj developed cold feet and threatened to expose them by going to the Talwars. Sensing danger, both Krishna and Rajkumar dragged him to the terrace and killed him, Rajkumar said during the narco-test.

Rajkumar, like Krishna, said Dr Talwar had no role to play in the murders. Last week, the Central Bureau of Investigation said Dr Talwar may be released as there is no evidence against him.

However, a source in the investigating agency told rediff.com that foul play is being suspected in Aarushi's post-mortem report. Preliminary investigation reveals the report may have been doctored. The CBI is reportedly questioning Dr Talwar about this aspect.

The narco analysis reports of both Krishna and Rajkumar speak of a fourth person present at the time of the murder. Krishna, in his test, said a man named Shambhu was present when the murders occurred. Rajkumar said Shambhu was a domestic help working for Dr Talwar's neighbour. He, however, said Shambhu had no role to play in the murders. The CBI may make Shambhu a witness in the case.

Rajkumar's narco-analysis test has put things in perspective for the CBI. The Bureau has elicited information about the location of both the weapon and the victims' mobile phones. Krishna had said Hemraj and Aarushi's mobile phones were destroyed while the khukri was flushed down the toilet.
