Why just India...here in Abu Dhabi, Dubai. traffic/ parking is a nightmare...more than once we have gone out on weekends late night in cabs rather than drive becuase no parking is available by the time we get back...

there should be a co relation between number of cars on road and infrastructure planning otherwise chaos on raods will only increase!

Limit number of cars / family, charge for designated parking...whatever it takes!

Ya True.....Sometime take hours n hours to get a proper parking....Its soo irritating..😳 Middle east Road are far better than india...lots of fly overs...bridges...phir be...stuck hrs in Trafic jam😕

In india...if govt want to make fly over or bridges, 100s of problems there...Lots of public problems Govt should care.,In a Kingdom., the Prince or King order the issue, nobody will Question against the Issue.😳

I would give credit to Ratan Tata for this, he lived up to his promise. The car is the cheapest in the world.... and many people who really can't afford expensive cars will surely settle for this. I think it would be safer too, if the college kids drove the Nano rather than bikes and without the helmet which is more dangerous 😛

I would be happy if this car came out here.. and if it was this cheap 😳 cos I don't find parking space down my building. I live in Abu-Shagarah (Sharjah) where it is a nightmare to park 😕

@Tally Ho....I know how u feel going out on weekends. it's the same situation here too we go out in cabs cos we can't get into the lanes to park. This place is so messed up cos of the second hand car dealers 😡

don't they need to pay any taxes when they buy this car? i feel 1 lakh is just a 'catch" phrase here. add approx. 30% taxes and some more moolah for accessories and u r talking about 2 lakhs here!!! but whatever it is, it surely does make cars more affordable for the masses. i am glad for those families who can now replace their scooter/bike with this and will be safer when going out with the batchas and all 😊

as far as making roads even more crowded ....hmmm.... did load shedding discouraged people from buying ACs, plasma TVs and other electronic gadgets...naheen na...they just bought a generator to go with that😊 in this case, let govt. come up with some plan to upgrade the infrastructure. waisey bhi crowd kam karney ka theka kya sirf lower middle class ney liya hai kya? how about those people who have more than 1 car per person of their family!!! unhey bhi toh bolo na crowd kam karney ko 😊

Right...they should limit number of cars per family...but ppl will find their way around that one...

I will be happy if the affordable car is bought by small middle class families who travelled by public transport or 2 wheelers...but what if most of the customers are college going kids of families where dad , mom already own their own cars ?😕

Yeah taxes will be extra, and as the reports say after taxes it will be somewhere around 1.2 lakhs. And people won't have to pay anything extra over that 1 lakh for the basic model to have accessories, unless they want AC or stuffs like that. 1.2 lakhs for the basic model is still way cheaper than any car in the market.

Now what you're asking is if someone fails to do their job it's ok, but those who paid them for the job should be punished.

People paid their taxes on time, they paid road taxes and whatever that's to be paid for every vehicle they bought. Why didn't the govt. do a better job of constructing and maintaining roads?? Why didn't the govt. in the first place try to educate people of family planning or stop illegal migrants?? Why should the public be deprived of the comfort or safety they deserve just because our govt. was inefficient??

don't agree on imposing a limit ashu. if the govt resorts to such measures then what's the difference b/w us and china. i am not a great believer of socialist or communist thinking. i am with cb here. one shd be thinking more about increasing the size of the pie than forcing people to let go of things they want and can very well afford.

yes, and that's what came to my mind as well but then given the "dhoom" craze in today's youngsters, i really do not see them swapping their hep and happenin' bike for something their doodhwala is driving as well. for collegiates and teens, it's all about the brand name and brand image. so, i'm really not worried about them going for this car...unless they happen to be from middle/lower middle class. in that case, i do not see their baapu doling out money for gas etc. their parents would say ki barah rupaiy ka bus pass lo aur youth special mein jao 😊
