I just saw this video today , I don't know how many of you've already seen it .

This year "Britain got talent" was between two people

One 6-year old kid and the other ofcourse adult.

other performances

I think Britney was 15 when she entered in showbiz , her life is already messed up. and most of the child stars one way or other face serious problems during their life. So is it really fair to these children , when parents put them in show bizz and take away their normal life.

most of these parents try to live their life through their kids. at one point or another they themselves were unable to achieve something so now they force their kids.

anyone heard of the infamous jonbenet ramsey. the 5 or 6 year old beauty pageant queen who was killed. the way those kids are dressed in those beauty pageants is hideous.

i was a child star and that explains why i am on drugs 😉 😆 😆 just kidding

i think lime light at a certain age is acceptable, but i wouldn't expose mine to it below a certain age.
there are ample stage shows and competetions at school,kg, prekg level and those r enuf for kids to develop public presentation skills, confidence, personality etc.. let kids be KIDS.. first....

just my opinion.. i respect others' if opposite.

I have not seen the videos yet. However, to add to the subject matter of the topic fame is something very difficult. Most parents wish best for their children. When a child has a talent they want their children to succeed. It is very difficult to gauge which teen has the ability to cope with fame and which parents have the ability to guide their children through fame. It is easy to assume, be down to earth, be yourself and stick to your ethics but when your life is pried apart under a microscope things get messy.

Speaking of famous children -

Macaulay Culkin and Elijah Wood were child artistes at the same time. In fact Elijah Wood has done more movies as a child than Macaulay. Macaulay's parents really wanted to cash in on his 'cute boy' image and the runaway success of home alone. They literally forced him deeper into limelight and tried to rake as many bucks as possible. His parents divorced and embroiled him in a custody battle. Eventually Macaulay broke down sued his father and had a hiatus from cinema and is just rebuilding his career doing indie films. Elijah's parents on the other hand kept him low profile. His private family life was always shielded from the media. He was able to be part of the blockbuster LOTR series as an adult and till today keeps his star status very low profile and keeps his personal life private.

If I were a parent of course I would let my kid's have a shot of fame. However, I would hope that I can be like Elijah's parents and help them to a balanced career and personality.

Then again kids of the same parentage have such different public attitudes and behaviors. Born to an evangelical pastor the Simpson sisters have been so different. While I am not a big fan of Jessica and she has had her fair share or controversy, the stupid newlyweds show and divorce. However, she was a big advocate of celibacy before marriage which I think was a positive role model for teens, she has rarely been embroiled in incidents like drunk driving, flashing, drugs, alcoholism and always tried to maintain a sense of privacy in her life since newlyweds. On the other hand Ashlee right from the start wanted to be an anti Jessica. She has been caught several occasions driving tipsy or making a fool of herself at restaurant and retail establishments.

Sometimes the best parents can do is provide guidance.

Balanced approach is the key...

A little exposure only adds to child's confidence and self esteem...Also it provides encouragement to talent...

Bt like everything else, it has a limit too...
after all they are kids, Vulnerable and gullible...
They shud be allowed to have a life without worries...

Bt these days , Life isnt easy for even those kids who are not in limelight with all the cut throat competetion nd Parents almost forcing children to be the "Best" sometimes in the fields that dont even interst the child
