^Yup, looks do matter a lot in our society. I really liked the bus example, and I could completely relate to it.
Sometimes I wonder to myself the way girls go to the extent of perfecting their outside look, but from the inside it's a totally different picture.
Yeah, I have no right to state that, but frankly perfecting your exterior look won't change your innear beauty will it? Yet, girls go to so much of extent to perfect their exterior look. Why not give that much importance to the inner side as well?
Another question to raise is the whole being skinny thing categorized as pretty. It's completely wrong, yet so many people go with it. Girls starve themselves for days in a row just to stay skinny & look "pretty".
Besides the most common tendency most girls in school resort to is pressurizing girls, who aren't into perfecting their look to change their look. They will go about saying "oh you should put this - seriously you will look so pretty" or something like "That girl is so not fashionable. Just look at her outfit. She is wearing a baggy pant for god's sake!".
The former works wonders, since most people immediately accept it. I have seen simple girls transform within seconds and turn extremely beauty consious and totally miss out on their studies.
At IF itself you will catch countless polls asking the prettiest actress on television. The main question to raise is is all this really necessary? Should we all really give so much importance to the exterior look of a person? Be this much beauty consious? Especially teenagers do you think it's right for them to be this beauty consious & to worry about fashion at such a young age?
