The only thing I couldnt enjoy about the movie is watching it in a mumbai or pune multiplex... you lucky cutes..

Watching it here in US multiplex is like watching the cnn news... pin drop silence and if a baby cries.. somebody calls the guard and the poor family has to go home... people watching movies here are just boring, drab, lifeless and dont know waht...no sities, no coin tossing, and those special comments -.. such movies are to be watched only in bombay theatres,...

One of the noticeable part of farah's direction was those period banner ads in teh background for ovaltine and exide, sholay... Never knew ovaltine was ever in india.. thought it was only bournevita and complan...😆

Is that why they go to see the same movie at least 5 times because they were too busy hooraying...😉 instead of watching the movie?😆

I didn't see or hear any of that when we went to see a movie in South Mumbai multiplex couple of years ago.😊

Well mate, for're forgetting Parineeta...I defy anyone to say Vidya wasn't noticable in Parineeta or that she didn't leave an indelible mark..the film was a vanilla remake of a old classic..so neither the movie nor anyone was really noticeable...You cite one scene from Om Shanti Om...I can cite numerous scenes from Parineeta where Vidya showcased a wide spectrum of emotions, and emoted so bloody well with her eyes alone like? I just happen to read about her and she has no expressive face at all.. is mbbs she was hardly noticed... in a role which kulraj became so famous in Kareena kareena...she could get anything out of it...,every single frame of Parineeta packed a punch..yes it was a knockout punch the viewer must have give himself for wasting money on that movie...😆..I agree Deepika was alright as Shantipriya, nothing extraordinary, but admittedly not terrible..But Deepika was pretty ho-hum as Sandy, whilst Parineeta was almost entirely Vidya's show, with Saif and Sanjay pitching in with wonderful performances too....Bhool Bhulaiyaa was a rubbish film which was almost unanimously panned by critics, yet Vidya managed to emerge unscathed(well, almost).i know only akshay never thought vidya was there .. who is the heroine then?..Ditto with Salaam-E-Ishq where everyone barring Vidya and Govinda hammed like there's no tomorrow🤢..

That Deepika is more emotive than Vidya is totally ridiculous, maybe you personally aren't very much impressed with Vidya there are people much much better than viday like Revathi, madhu.. who couldnt make a mark...,but I'll say this much for her....I yet have to watch her act embarrasingly badly.i have to watch her act enough to be noticed.....I've watched some of the so-called bigger and more talented stars like Ash, Kareena,Urmila, Rani,Preity etc ham/act wooden like nobody's business, whereas I'm yet to watch a cringeworthy performance of Vidya...

  1. If we're considering the "acting prowess",then Vidya has more than proved her talent repeatedly.where and when.. except parnita which is not really big...she is not noticed anywhere...If we're talking about star-power,then I must say NONE of the contemporary leading ladies have had huge blockbuster movies which they carried solely on their shoulders....The hits of Ash,Rani,Preity etc has been with stars like SRK ,Salman,Hrithik etc.....Only MAdhuri and Sridevi delivered solo-hits,but they are legends sreedevi was successful for the same reasons as srk.. she couldnt really act... ya. just about so so...,aren't they??...And I for one never said Vidya is a legend!!but you said she is a good actress... she has yet to prove herself with some good role... besides paranita... sorry i dont know what was that movie about...

Deepika on the other hand made a mark without me even knowing about her abilities... i didnt go to the movie for her.. i didnt even know much other than that she is prakash padukone's daughter..but the way she acted was terrific.. for a newcomer... she is raw.. with few years more she would really be amongst the toppers.. wait and watch.. as for your vidya.. she is a passing actress - like some of the other actresses i mentioned above she will make a passing impression thats about it.. you cant help it.. she must be related to some filmi guys or show-biz which is why she is even in the film industry...lucky to be there...even if she can act well sometimes..she lacks the x-factor.😊. But for your sake I wish her all the best... since you seem to be swooned by her ordinary acting abilities...😊 she should change her name to Vidya Banal....so that people dont get wrong impressions...😆

The penultimate and ultimate scenes of Bhool Bhulaiyaa belonged to Vidya...Akshay drew in the crowds, but Vidya's performance was the ONLY good thing about the movie..But as Akshay Kumar is riding the crest of the wave, even rubbish movies of his(Bhagam Bhag,Bhool Bhulaiyaa) end up being superhits, but in retrospect, after 8-10 years,Bhool Bhulaiyaa would be remembered preponderantly for Vidya...

I stick to my guns that Vidya was far better than Deepika in her debut film, and please get your facts right...Vidya has no godfather whosoever, she featured in an avalanche of music videos and had to go though 14 screen tests before Vidhu Vinod Chopra was convinced that she can play the character Lolita...And neither did she do Munnabhai MBBS...In Lage Raho,I reiterate, her ebullience and effervescence was liked by many people...Maybe you didn't but thankfully, our individual opinions isn't the universal opinion, because in that case, neither Vidya nor Deepika would have been the stars they are......Funny,you consider an Om Shanti Om good enough to establish Deepika's mastry over acting, but condescend upon Parineeta as a run-of the mill movie sans any great performances😕..

Sorry querty, but it seems like our tastes are completely different....I'm not a whit impressed with Deepika, but am mightily fond of Vidya... And I dunno who you're kidding when you say you didn't know she was Prakash Padukone's daughter....Atleast the surname should have rung a bell😕..Or didn't you know who Prakash Padukone was in the first place😕...

I rest my case here,there's no point flogging a dead horse😆..And anyways,we're digressing..This thread isn't about Vidya...

I dont think its enough to make a mark... I didnt know Deepika until I watched this movie...and the impression she made was terrific like many have posted on this thread.. so I am not alone.. 😊 and thus couldnt be hallucinating..😆.. You can still think Vidya deserves an oscar.. since in world of opinions...sab chalta hai..😆

I rest my case here, there's no point flogging a dead horse😆..And anyways,we're digressing..This thread isn't about Vidya...Right... i am giving her too much importance...

I didn't see or hear any of that when we went to see a movie in South Mumbai multiplex couple of years ago.😊 May be you were watching something like paranita (since this figured in last few pages i remembered the name) when most of these people are either on a smoke break or in the restroom😆😆😆.....otherwise sleeping...

Dushman was one of the best films she did but people hardly remember that. As for in KKHK and K3G again look at the characters she played. In one film she was this girl whom her best friend ignored to go with the glamourous and beautiful Tina and in another one she is this lower middle classi, loud mouth Chandni Chowk type. So people find her extraordinary in both. But since Rani played the glamourous one, hardly finds mention. Rani was fabulous in KANK too but she was panned because people took the infidelity for real😕. It is news to me that people appreciated Ash' acting in HDDCS. As far as I know people gave entire credit to SLB then for making a non-actor work. Actually it was Provoked when people actually said that Ash was brilliant. Kareena was brilliant in Refugee and we know what kind of role she played. Thereafter people panned her everytime she did a 'Poo' and over-the-top roles till Dev happened.

Obviously the point I am making is people connect with ordinary female actors very easily than the pretty ones like Aishwarya, Kareena and Deepika. When Konkana Sen does a prostitute's role she wins accolades but if Kareena Kapoor plays the same role then you will see mixed response. It is very difficult for people to take pretty ones serious. You think Legallyblonde was a good film of Reese's but she got the similar response as a dumb blond would. Even her then husband Ryan asked her why she does the same kind of dumb films again and again and that he would act with her if she does a serious cinema.

I cited the YRF/K Jo films of Kajol ONLY to prove that she didn't have to do art cinema or a deglam role to get appreciation....She has of course done films outside YRF,some of them have been wonderful films for which she was appreciated duly..And similarly, not all YRF/K Jo films catapult the leading actor to stardom...Yashraj couldn't do a thing for Tanissha or Uday Chopra or Jugal Hansraj, couldnt even garner them any fame(besides the basic recognition they recieve from cinema buffs who know their names)....What you're talking about are author-backed roles(Kajol in KKHH,Kareena in Omkara etc)...Not not all author backed roles are synonymous to parallel cinema where the heroines need to look simple or ugly...Aishwarya Rai didn't have much of a role in Guru, yet approbation was heaped on her for the role of Sujata....At the end of the day,it's not the role or the kind of clothes/make-up that matters...Either one acts well or one doesn't!!>...

I personally loved Reese Witherspoon in both the Legallyblonde movies, cracking performance!!....She was seriously funny and her expressions were excellent.......Kareena Kapoor played the desi equivalent of a valley girl in K3G,but she was overacting, thus was caricatured.....

Renee Zellweger had to pile up oodles of weight and fake a British accent in both the Briget Jones movies, but despite all that effort, had her basic acting been bad(as in movie 2🤢),she wouldn't have been spared...Aishwarya put on weight for Bride and Prejudice, shed all the weight for Dhoom 2,but wasn't much appreciated in either of the films because her acting per se wasn't all that....

Joy of life , You cant compare acting in hollywood and bollywood, the yardstiks are different... HW...applauds like more realistic, real life and natural potrayal...BW applauds theatrical histrionics and melodrama... Reese didnt do anything different from a real life person... in LB1 & LB2...of course she is not a lawyer and did that quite well... all I am saying you cant compare best of HW and best of HW - its like comparing apples to oranges.. although both of them involve acting...how much you veer away from reality matters in this case... all of HW should be compared to what we refer to as parallel cinema here.. of course parallel cinema has more class than many of the run off the mill HW movies...

You are a good actor if you potray something you are not... Both Reese and Rene didnt do anything extraordinary.. Ash did something extraodinary in HDDCS, the cast of untouchables did extraordinary... Jim Carey does extra ordinary in his movies especially Liar Liar....with an immaculate timing..

For all that Reese and Rene are among..my favorites
