Never ever did I say don't do it or don't find joy in it. In fact, to quote myself "masochists who feel joy, fulfillment, and sense of community by ritual fasting then they have full and complete freedom to do so." You do you. I fully support whatever people want to do to themselves out of their own volition.

I think you're hung up and upset that I call it masochism.

Here is my logic.

Asphyxiation = suffering. Being bound and gagged = suffering. Finding pleasure in acts that would be suffering to most others = masochism. Sometimes people engage in masochism out of love.

Starvation = Suffering. Fasting = Timed and temporary starvation. You draw the conclusion.

And I say the same of all fasting. Be it religious, intermittent, or juice cleanse.

Let X and Y do whatever they want , follow whatever religion they want , follow whatever religious rituals they want to .. If it brings peace and joy to them , who are we to decide anything on their behalf ? ..

Whatever happened to live and let live .. As long as no one is "forced" into anything , these kind of regressive judgments by self proclaimed feminists is completely uncalled for and a violation of basic human rights granted to us by our secular nation ..

I swear irrational feminazis claim to be liberals/ forwards but they have the most regressive extremist mindset .. They are no better than orthodox assholes ..

I am all for it. Never did I say that people should not fast because they find joy and happiness in it.

Why is fasting suffering?! ... In today's time fasting is considered one of the best ways to give your body the needed rest. Ket* and intermittent fasting are everyone.

Instead McDonalds, fast food, overeating should be equated to suffering for today's generation!

You can say whatever you want .. But you speak for yourself , not others .. You find fasting akin to masochism .. Fair enough .. But thats for you .. Not others .. What gives you the right to label others as masochists just because they like to follow their religion ? .. Before you come at me for stating a "fact" i.e. " fasting for spouse = masochism", let me just say that your facts are as good as a bucket full of shit .. Always have been .. 😆

Has anyone forced you to fast ? .. If they had , you have every right to call them out .. But you cant go around genelarizing based on "what you think is a fact" .. Because what "you think or say" is your prerogative .. You , however do not get to impose "your facts" onto others .. 😊

You , however were all in for labelling them "masochists" .. Thats not what i call "live n let live " .. But of course , you will have your own definitions of "live n let live" .. 😆

Starvation = suffering

Fasting = timed and controlled starvation

ergo Fasting = Suffering

Heart attack = suffering

Clogging arteries = heart attack

Excessive junk food = clogging arteries

ergo excessive junk food = suffering

I agree with you.

Only moderation makes sense.

It may be suffering (/masochism) for those who line up at McDonalds and Pizza joints 6x a day! .. 😆

@ RTH....but why do u think that women who do karwachauth are suffering?? They are not....I observe Teej not karwachauth...and Teej we drink and eat the next morning....but I am not suffering in the process....the next day when I get up and do pooja my husband makes chai and breakfast for me...because I was fasting the previous day...my husband treats me like a queen.....if one day in a whole year...I fast for him....I won't call it suffering....its love.

I remember my first Teej....and my husband was panicking that I will die or something.😆..so he smuggles an apple for me...and tells me eat this ....no one is looking🤣....and I told him that I am not fasting because someone forced me....and till date now here in USA....where no one is even watching me and even when I am alone ...I don't drink or eat because I do it willingly.

Facts are not mine or yours. Facts are facts. Unless you subscribe to the notion of alternative facts.

Anyway. These are my facts.

Asphyxiation = suffering. Being bound and gagged = suffering. Finding pleasure in acts that would be suffering to most others = masochism. Sometimes people engage in masochism out of love.

Starvation = Suffering. Fasting = Timed and temporary starvation. Fasting = suffering

Please refute them, so I can see why I am wrong in my conclusions.
