Well im starting a hypothetical/assumption based debate. I know DMers aren't that much interested in it but.. and im not sure whether you people like it or not but I just wish to start it and try 😳..why don't we give it a shot together?! 😃

Here is an assumption. Suppose a couple is expecting a child but cannot have it due to some of the reasons like :

- they aren't affordable and financial burden will increase if new member comes.

- they want to spend some time together to have better compromises with each other.

- wish to be responsibility-free etc

Keeping the Pro choice and Pro Life debate aside as this is just an illustration, I question:

What if some times Practicality clash Morality and Emotions?

The bigger question is : Does Practicality sure clash Morality or not?

P.S: I wish to have some examples from debators based on rational assumptions. Keeping to the point of proving that Practicality clashing Morality or not.

WOW this is a great topic Maryam.

Does Practicality sure clash Morality or not?

Definitely at times practicality does clash with morality. Morally, we all know that lying is wrong. But can any one of us claim to have never lied? In every day life, there are numerous incidents when reality clashes with our morals and values.

Well, there is no hard and fast rule whether one should go with reality or the values. And neither can anyone ever come up with such rules.

Firstly, everyone has different values and places different importance on them. For some lying is a bigger crime than stealing and for other vice versa. Some pple are even immoral.

But many times, the morals are being sacrificed for reality. To live in the world, one must consider and go on with reality and some times morals and values need to be sacrificed. I'm not saying, we should all dump our morals in the dustbin now. But look at situations practically and take decisions. I refer back to the simple example of lying. Don't we all lie? Its that we HAVE to sacrifice our morals to go on with life!

Thank u! i hope i actually made sense 😳 😳

Thank God... 😃 so hypothetical debates aren't that bad in DM as i guessed 😉 😳

Anyways.. im talking quiet briefly for the time being and i will add more later... but for me.. there are several situations were Practicality goes aganist morality...Sometimes we need to chose Morals over our practical thinking. The assumption i believe here would fit is the Revolutionalists. I see them as idealists ..thinking of something which is all abt morals and if they thought practically...they might not be able to create a difference.. I bet they had severe challenges and if they considered tp give up morality..it might not have worked. 😊

Good topic Maryam.

I do think practicality clashes with morality at times. What to choose for depends upon what you want in your life.

Have you heard opposites are complementary? IT is possible for practicality and morality to exist simulataneously. Every practical person surely makes decisions based on his or her moral judgement and values. If or when they "clash", something is not right.

Umm, maybe i went on a tangent..not sure. 😳
