Great thnxxxx to the media for bringing all these out, and creating pressure on the officials! Otherwise, God alone knows what and how it would have been!

Media intervene nahi kartha tho aur kitna barbaad hota??? Lol..
Ok, I am against the media in some cases..But then, they did play an important role too..It's good that they got out the corruption, etc..Otherwise, we would have been sitting like fools, knowing nothing.
Whose money do you think was eaten like that? Ours! We pay tax for Pete's sake!! And ministers make merry out of it.

Sure, sure..We're great economy despite our problems. People dying out of hunger is a result of great economy.
Yeah, it's growing..But as long as most of the problems aren't solved, it's not a giant in economy. It's one among the developing nations- Period.

BTW did any one notice the change brought in yaro India bula liya, as Rahman thundered through AIWA sound surround over 25 stacks of speakers at 500 000 watts I could observe the changes he brought in chord progression over the previous one.

There is addition of 7th & 9th note over most of the chords used which is the hallmark of Rahman just like his use of fast notes Sitar distorted by flanger & arpeggio .

Twitterati go ga-ga over the Games opening ceremon

Social networking tool Twitter seemed to have been taken over by the Indian contingent Sunday, as the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony garnered praise, reflecting relief that the nation's pride has been salvaged.

"I think after the awesome CWG opening ceremony India must host

Cultural Wealth games.... Unlike CWG we will sweep the medals tally too," tweeted Sabharish Murali.

There were ooh's and wow's on Twitter as the various segments of the three-hour long spectacle unfolded, keeping the term "Commonwealth Games" and "opening ceremony" among the top ten phrases on Twitter.

"The Indian rail piece was the most thoughtful," said Sukhada Chaudhary, while others raved about the yoga segment, as well as the colourful showcase of Indian classical dance.

"People still skeptic about India? CWG showed the World our culture & did so beautifully...," asserted Vasu Jain.

They were also appreciative that there was not much of Bollywood in the show, except for Oscar winning composer, A.R. Rahman at the end. "The fact I liked about cwg ceremony is it took our heritage and pride (Guru-Shishya tradition, Yoga, cultural harmony) and showcased to world!," said Sandip.

There were also ecstatic tweets by people inside the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, who were giving minute-by-minute updates of their travel through a silent city on the Delhi Metro to the actual colourful ceremony.

"Have I ever felt better in life. Felt this much pride. This much respect? No. Tweeting verbatim from the CWG opening at JLN," said Delhi resident Nitin Sagar, who also posted photographs of the ceremony.

I can comment here now. CWG's in Delhi are a success as of now.

My dad kept telling me that they will take place, they will.(He's part of MCD @ the 3rd highest post. Dont want to reveal name as its internet..PM, I can.) I didn't believe him either even though he was sitting in the inside meetings but damn was I scared for Delhi and India's reputation. Cuz Del is the capital man.
And well, Delhi is CLEAN right now. The road's are amazing. PWD's work was taken away and given to MCD and news channels are just bragging about how amazing the opening ceremony was. Media just knows how to create a frenzy!
And that village, its all clear now. 20 officers + 400 workmen were taken there and all the work done in a matter of time.
And same for Delhi. 3 nights + 200 workers and the roads etc. were shining.
@hindu4lyf:- I agree with you man!

The MCD did do its part ! Its riled day in day out but its the MCD that came to the rescue otherwise ppl like kalmadi had left no stone unturned to take the games towards disaster thanx to poor planning and vested interests. The contract for maintaining cleanliness in the Games Village had been given to some company from Pune, ie Kalmadi's area ; but they did not perform. The MCD had to be called in at the 11th hour to bail the Games vilage out of all that mess . If only ppl learn to work honestly without seeking a slice of the pie for personal gain the Games could have been organised in a much better way and in a timely manner.
The opening ceremony started off on a good note . Hope it continues without any more glitches.

Now that the opening ceremony is over, I think most of the problems are solved..The games ARE going to be a success, no matter what anyone says, and that's the best part :)

As an Indian, I'm glad that people were able to look beyond those dirty bathrooms, etc and praise India's culture and speak good about the opening ceremony :)

As for this being THE best- I don't know. I don't subscribe to it. But then, they were better, MUCH better than what everyone would have expected. M sure that the expectations would have been low..So they DID exceed expectations!! :)

Sometimes people are just too pessimistic
Sometimes people just dont want to accept some problems are minor and they make it out to be a big deal
Sometimes there are real big problems and people want it to be shoved under the rug
Sure the opening ceremony has been a grand success, but let us not forget a bridge collapsed even before the games openes, also a roof fell off on another site.
For too long have I seen substandard construction projects run in India especially with Govt funds to gloat over the sucess of the games and say the people were just overblowing things out of proportion to create some kind of a sensation.

Yeah. Your right. MCD worked real hard at the end moment. I remember dad was telling Sheila Dixit called him and other junior officers in a meeting and praised MCDs work a lot and then said they have taken the work from PWD and giving to MCD. Dad tells how MCD, he and his men were working for 18hrs a day to get through. So I hope all the hardwork pays off too without any more troubles. The labours and workers worked very very hard. And India's rep. is at stake. In a very big manner. It's our country's honour at stake. And I hope our country shines through!
But I'm damned that I can't see any games 🥱 University Sleepy

^^ I agree that the preparations were shoddy and not taken as sincerely as an international event ought to have been. But the media did blow things a bit . Two tiles falling from a freshly made false ceiling created headlines in India and elsewhere but the ceiling falling just before an international meet in the plenary hall of the UNO office a few days back was given a miss by most of the media persons ! The venue was quietly shifted to and no one blamed a developed country for such mishaps !
