COMMONWEALTH 2010...need ur views ..

commonwealth 2010: India shining or a global embarresment. hey guys...i have to speak on this topic.....u can choose either side...n i hope to get some concrete response....

Hmmm, I was in Delhi recently and I conclude that the Commonwealth Games is actually govt's game of playing with the Wealth of The Common Man.

Right from when you exit the airport, all you see are potholes and bigger potholes. The Village is finished but they need to clear up with the junk outside, which is clearly not being done.

14 stadiums have not been finished yet and even if they are, there will absolutely be no timefor testing of the electrical equipment like lighting etc.. Is this how we want the athletes to play? Shy if something goes wrong? Obviously the name of India will be tarnished. On the other hand, the goernement has overspent the budget over 3 times! Well, where are the results? Is our tax money going to waste? I'm sure it is.

The only positives that I saw were that the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, which is where the opening and closing ceremony is going to take place and many of the main events are also going to be taking place, is complete and that the slums outside some of the other sports complexes have been cleared and DDA has actually given them better places to stay.

Another thing that I don't get is the proximity of the village with respect to the stadium. The Village is in the NCR region, towards Ghaziabad and Noida, and the stadiums are inside Delhi. What if the athletes get caught in a traffic jam, which is quite a commn sight over there? I don't get why the village is so far apart.

I feel that as an Indian, it is not a shame on India but rather on Delhi. I was also in Mumbai and I felt that they were much, much more organized than Delhi. But I guess there would also be political problems there, with SS and MNS.

roads dug up...lumber spread evrywhere....the whole of delhi luks like a construction site rite now.......wherever u go...the only thing that strikes u fully is the apprehension n the construction before the games...

I live in Delhi and believe me, the scenario's pathetic! Shabby and disgusting! Constructions here and fixation there . . the governmental works will not be finished on time, I'm certain.

Recently, I visited CP where the whole inner circle was dug and some construction was on in the buildings too! What my mom said after we returned was this, "Govt. Common Wealth Dilli mein apni aur desh ki bazati ke liye karwa rahi hai!" Translation: The govt. decided to conduct the event in our nation cause they want us to get insulted. 😆

Also, I have heard that many many sports people are not even going to attend the game as they don't feel safe here.

17 days and every educational institute closed. Almost everybody's work place closed for sometime! If you look at the brighter side, nobody is bothered as we have a plenty of leisure time. Besides, hardly any Delhiite would be in Delhi! I myself am going for a trip to the South for 15 days! 🤣

I don't know if India as a nation would gain anything from this...I am talking about goodwill here but the only people who will gain are the corrupt contractors, the corrupt Govt. officials and last but not the least the corrupt politicians.......ab to paancho unglian ghee mein hai aur sir kadahi mein............I remember in the Winter Olympics in USA there was only one participant from India and he had a fauj of about 40 people with him ...who had just come to visit USA on Govt(READ peoples') money......

CWG as off now seems to be disaster for India. I was Loksabha proceedings on one fine day and the debate on CWG was going on which is very common these days inside or outside LS house.Opposition (I dont know how and why) was talking sensible and in reply to dat some Congress spokesperson very casually said that scam is not dat big as it is being portrayed, it just 1% of the total budget and our very own Sports Minister remained evasive saying file a RTI application to get answers which clearly states that Government doesn't have answer to any of the question raised by the opposition or by the comman man.

PM on independence day promised that work wil be done on time and India will proudly host CWG. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that what PM said turns out to be true but looking at current scenario, there are more chances of India face sheer embarrassment.

Delhi is a complete mess. Only a miracle can save it now. Calling the Army in did help during the '82 Asian Games. Doubt even the army can handle the current state of disarray.

The Delhi government fell into its own trap. Perhaps they were sure of losing the elections, and wanted to see a red-faced BJP. This can be the only explanation as to why plans were not approved for months on end. Despite constant reminders by builders, that they would not be able to complete the projects on time.

Its a shame that ppl cant see beyond their own selfish needs and then expect others to show patriotism. Inn Kauravon se toh ab Krishna hi india ki laaj bachaye Once the CWG are over , the ppl responsible for the debacle must be held accountable. I m sure the media will play its role there.
