@Indradhanush: Thanks for posting those pics!

These were seriously astoundingly beautiful!

I want to take back what I said previously....unfortunately I hadn't had the chance to watch the full CWG ceremony on the part I saw on YT.....it's only now on seeing these pics that I realized I must have missed some parts.....watching everything after the speeches....now THAT was the best part....absolutely LOVED it! Hats off to the ppl who pulled it off.....made me proud! Now I can understand what so many of the articles meant about that bit with this ceremony having 'heart'....the yoga part with the Buddha and the part with Gandhiji and all the various dance forms that they showcased......seriously amaaaazing!

The ceremony was conceptualised and implemented by Bharat Bala / Shyam Benegal and their team. Hats off to them.

It seriously was BRILLIANTLY conceptualized.....I also loved the train wala part.....where they paid tribute to the common man by showing those little things that we all love and identify as an integral part of India.....the chai-wallahs, the bangle shops, the dabba-wallahs, the cycle-shops, the different types of turbans worn, that nimboo-mirchi waali thing used to protect from buri nazar....soooooo many vibrant hues......they truly showcased the diversity of India beautifully.
Indian women shooters Anisha Syed and Rahi Sarnobat shot second gold for India on the second day of CWG 2010.

Pair of Anisha and Sarnobat won the gold medal in 25 m pistol event.

Earlier, Abhinav Bindra and Gagan Narang brought the first Gold for India in 10 m rifle pair events.
OK so the second gold also in shooting, fine..!

And what news is this..?! http://blog.dawn.com/2010/10/04/muhammad-ali-shahs-cheap-stunt-embarrasses-pakistan/

Why Aussies behave like this?
Look at the case of their participation in the Commonwealth Games. Just days after their Commonwealth Games chief gave a green light to security arrangements in New Delhi, their national athletics federation started shooting off emails to athletes, cautioning them of terror threats in India. A general caution to be careful may be fine, but when it linked to terror threats, obviously fear creeps in. And with that confusion and uncertainty.
And this is the mail I got in morning from a friend in Oz
No mention of the CWG opening ceremony on Sky News Australia evening news yesterday (watched by most people).
However this morning the same channel headlines reported how Australia was already ahead in medals tally.
Still no mention of the spectacular Opening Ceremony though. (Talk about selective presentation of news).
Got a chance to read story why did two most promising Oz swimmers failed to even qualify. Sydney Daily Telegraph blamed it on pressure to perform and bad pasta these swimmers had a night before. One of the swimmer is Nick Darcy who was on top of his career before couple of years before he punched senior swimmer which apparantly landed him into trouble.
