Yes, there are alternate theories to the big bang such as those proposed by Steinhardt and Turok or those proposed by Hoyle, Gold and Bondi. Matter of fact, there are alternate theories to every theory in this Universe. I am sure a plethora of other "scientists" are trying to dismantle the big bang, as we speak. If they have enough funding, I am sure they would have made more inroads. There's no surprise there. Every one knows that most theories, including big bang, are fudged to some extent. You are talking like you are the first one on this planet who registered your objections against big bang or studied the objections surrounding the big bang. I am aware of most of those objections as well, thank you very much.

All said and done, big bang still rules because of the discoveries made pertaining to cosmic microwave background radiation. Period.

As for facts, if Science tells you that it's a fact, then it darn well is. Why? Because the scientists have done the spade work and paid their dues. If scientists have differences of opinions amongst themselves, so be it. But, at any given point in time, one theory stands. Right now, it's big bang. It will stand till someone comes along and knocks it off it's perch with better evidence. But since that didn't happen as yet, big bang is a fact. If you don't accept it, then come up with better evidence. Don't stand in a corner and heckle. Anybody could do that.
