The result doesn't really matter, but there were a few boxes ticked for both teams. India's death bowling, their weakness of the past, was quite spot-on today. Agreed, the warm-up meant they could try all their options, a luxury which they'll not have in a regular game. But Bhuvneshwar, Arshdeep, Harshal and then Shami nailed their bowling - the hard lengths, the bouncers, the variations and the yorkers, everything associated with death over bowling was ticked off. And not to forget some amazing catching as well - But they can't really go overboard, it's easier to nail death bowling in a meaningless game, can they do so under latest pressure? We'll get to know on the 23rd. But for now, Rohit will be happy with what he's seen. Positives with the bat for both teams and that was the least of worries for both squads - 50s for KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav and Aaron Finch, perhaps India would have wanted Rohit and Kohli spend some more time in the middle, ditto for Australia with Glenn Maxwell.

Aaron Finch - We learned that we need to be clinical towards the back-end, we didn't capitalize towards the end. We did drag them back after that blistering start from KL, happy with my own form. He's fantastic (on Kane Richardson), every opportunity he gets for Australia, he's there performing, that shows the depth of our pace bowling unit. 22nd will be a great day, looking to start off on a winning note, playing against New Zealand and at the SCG will be always special.

Rohit Sharma - I thought we batted well, towards the end we could have added 10-15 runs more. We always want a set batter to stay till the end, SKY did it, overall a great batting effort with nice bounce, was a pitch where you can trust your shots. You got to be smart with batting on grounds like these. You can't forget to push the balls into the gaps, scoring 8-9 runs in an over can be quite an effective plan. It was a great practice game for us. There is room for improvement, but I want more consistency from the bowlers. You need to keep things simple and hit the deck hard. Overall a good game for us, they had a decent partnership and that put us under pressure. He (Shami) is coming back after a long time, so we wanted to give him an over. Wanted to give him a challenge and let him bowl the final over, and you saw what he did.

England thump Pakistan in this warm-up fixture by six wickets. Stokes, Livingstone, Brook and Curran - they all got a good hit in the center during the run chase. Brook and Curran finished the game off in quite a hurry as they got home with more than four overs to spare. Pakistan were very poor on the field. They should've put on a bigger total to begin with after a brilliant start from Masood. But lost their way to finish with 160 on the board. And then there were misfields and dropped catches aplenty as England got home in a canter

Jos Buttler: Malan missed out today, so everyone moved up one. It is great to see him play well, he's (Stokes) hitting the ball well in the nets and I am sure he will take confidence from the 30-odd he got today. Everything we wanted to get out of today we did. Great to see Livingstone back on the field after a significant injury, getting four overs from Jordan as well, Brook and Curran getting some time in the middle. We batted first in the games against Australia and wanted to bowl first, so got what we wanted from the game.
