Australia (Playing XI): David Warner, Chris Rogers, Steven Smith, Michael Clarke(c), Adam Voges,Shane Watson, Brad Haddin(w), Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Johnson, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon
England (Playing XI): Alastair Cook(c), Adam Lyth, Gary Ballance, Ian Bell, Joe Root, Ben Stokes,Moeen Ali, Jos Buttler(w), Stuart Broad, Mark Wood, James Anderson
Clarke: 'I would have batted first as well. Our experience in our team is the key, but there are now guarantees, you've got to play really well to win. I think all 16 players were in contention. The selectors have stuck to the older guys. It would have been fantastic to have Ryano around. He's a great bowler, he'd be a loss to any team. But that gives an opportunity for the other bowlers and we are looking forward to this game.'
Cook: 'We are going to bat first. We think this is a fairly dry wicket, it is a bit overcast but should be a good pitch to bat on. The lads are excited to play this game. The guys just got to go out there and express themselves.'
England have won the toss and have opted to bat
Michael Clarke earlier said that in England you've got to look overhead and not just the pitch to decide on what to do at the toss. It was drizzling a few minutes ago, but the sun has come out now. What will Clarke do if he calls the right side of the coin?
There is a bit of rain in the air and the square has been covered. Hopefully we will have a prompt start. And it has brightened up again. So we should have the toss at the scheduled time
Pitch report by Mike Atherton: There is a bit more even covering of grass than 6 years ago. It is a pitch where the bowlers would like to kiss the surface and get help. Ryan Harris would've loved to bowl on this. A pitch designed to nullify the threat of Mitchell Johnson. Don't think England will play two spinners on this, like they did in 2009 when they had Swann and Panesar
