Hmm maybe people were busy with New Year's parties? I mean it was the weekend right after New Year's Day. The first 2 episodes were good, so I have my doubts that it was a real decline in viewership in just another week.
Just sharing the full TRP list of Sab TV and Sony TV.
CID went off air abruptly by channel. It came back after 6 years, that too at viewers/fans request. In meantime Idol was garnering trp or should I say no.1 show for channel. sometimes I wonder channel manipulates the trps!!!!
I would rather have channel take off Indian Idol.
Let us hope as @minionite (Shreya) says it might be due to new year etc. next week CID will be no.1 show for channel.

I cannot forget how Sony treated CID in the last year of season 1. Sometimes not airing the episode or pushing it half an hour without any notice.
But I think Sony has realized their mistake in mistreating CID and its fans and I can only hope that they won't repeat that.
I will say that there might be another reason for the drop that my masi mentioned today. Sony TV is no longer part of most people's regular cable package. It's a channel that has to be purchased separately. For most of December, most cable providers gave the channel as a freebie for promotion purposes and to hopefully get more subscribers. The drop might also be associated with people who no longer have the channel.
CID timing should be changed to 21:00 to 22:00 slot, and one episode one week strategy to be adopted as it can earn more viewers and the quality of Episode will be perfect
I think the reason for decrease in TRP is, that nowadays many people don't have a cable connection.
Many people had stopped watching TV in recent years.
I got my cable restored, when the first promo of CID season 2 was released.

Here is another tantrum of Sony TV

I would agree. The last 2 years during the first season Sony did treat CID real bad. They did not telecast episodes in some of the weekends, and even abruptly halted the show twice, once from April to June of 2016, and another from July to September 2018.
Honestly, Shreya, the TRP system is the most baseless thing I have ever seen. The system only measures rating from Cable/Set Top Box, does not include all of the Indian households, and does not include viewership from YouTube and streaming platforms such as SonyLIV. Plus, only this system decides whether a show can go longer or be taken off air. So if some show goes off air due to low TRPs, it will pretty much disappoint fans of the show. And I will say with utmost sincerity, if either the TRP system was overhauled or altogether scrapped, then almost all the crappiest serials would become watchable, all the shows that started initially good would stay good, and other sensible serials would gain more popularity. Because what happens is that a typical TV show starts off good but soon when the main thing is shown and the CVs don’t know how to take it forward, the show goes downhill. Because to gain more TRP, a channel will have the CVs write illogical tracks and not handle them sensibly and what happens we all protest mostly here to condemn the track and in the process, the actors, the characters, and the show would get some sort of bashing, and IF fans would write OSs, FFs, or find ways that the track can be shown sensibly and say that they would be better writers than the CVs and ask the channel to have them as writers. It happens in almost many forums, especially here.

@ Bold: I have so much to say on the TRP system but you did a pretty good job saying most of what I would want to say.
Basically the TV industry needs an overhaul like the film industry had when they adapted by releasing films online and measuring online viewership as well. The TV industry has instead split into TV and webseries rather than consider webseries part of their industry and look at online viewership as an extension of viewership rather than a separate viewership.
Yes the online audience is different, but it's also not. A good portion of the online viewers are those who grew up on TV but now think of it as an unnecessary cost when all the shows can be watched online as well. I'm talking the audience that falls into Millenials and Gen Z groups. As kids we all sat around the TV set and watched live episodes and movies with ads, running for snacks or the bathroom during breaks. But now when you have on-demand providers like Netflix, Hotstar, IPTV boxes, etc. and we're having to pay for those subscriptions which show everything you see on TV anyways, but without the ad breaks and at our convenience, then why would we pay twice and get a cable subscription as well?
The film industry has understood this to some extent. Yes, they still rely heavily on box office numbers, but they're already realizing that apart from a few random movies, most movies' success or failure should be based on these online platforms not just box office numbers. The TV industry has yet to understand that.
