Like Deepika mentioned, a mystery thriller, no matter where it is set or what stereotypes they may impose upon it (*cough* a "kid's show" *cough*), will have to incorporate certain concepts that cannot be sidestepped by the genre under any circumstances. One such vital concept is how the investigation is carried out. Like devangi said in the first post, even a good plot could ultimately fall apart if the investigation aspect of it is not done properly.
I'd like to point out old episodes like Clue In The Ashes and Missing Man, which really did not have a terribly complicated plot or anything but the precise and carefully placed clues, red herrings and thought-provoking logical deductions which invited the audience to take part in the proceedings themselves and form theories are what made them so special, which has largely missing from recent episodes. "The show has evolved with time", "the audience now is different" etc. are NOT valid excuses for excluding these concepts, as far as I'm concerned. Nowadays the investigation is so straightforward, with clues magically appearing out of nowhere and the miraculous computers looking up everything in a jiffy, that I wonder if they ever noticed that the "thrill" part of the genre left town long ago. And showing the team in life-threatening situations is not a substitute for that.
Coming back to the main point of the topic, like already mentioned, I think it would be nice to show a few light-hearted moments between the team in the beginning, sometimes. Note that this doesn't mean having Freddy whimpering about ghosts and all that; he's a CID officer first and foremost and they must respect his portrayal considering that - he is jovial, but must show his serious, loyal and brave side when it's time. I'd be much pleased if they also involve police in the proceedings to some extent, and not show just any random person calling the CID when he loses his pencil box (obviously that's an exaggeration, but it sorta emphasizes the point). I'd like to point towards the old episodes again to refer to proper team distribution, a very important aspect that's been handled in a pretty poor and painfully apparent way since last year. The portrayal of criminals and villains should be apt, which has already been discussed in detail.
Regarding the relationships thing, personally I'm indifferent to that but the Abhijeet/Tarika track has always been an awkward oddity that is going nowhere, and is evidently a sort of mascot for the "kid's show" label as we've seen in the Gallantry awards. I think if they can't move it forward properly, then better drop it completely. I'm much more concerned about the mess they've been creating with regard to characterizations, Daya sir's has already been discussed in detail on another thread. Can only repeat what has already been well-said in previous posts, and point out to how will this is handled in other national as well as international shows; why can't they do it here? And also, I hope they make the forensic lab actually look like what it's called - a forensic lab, and not a factory of dyes. 😛 There's a vast scope of improvement in there regarding the procedures shown and methods used, as well.
