I have never heard Daya calling himself or someone else calling Daya Sr Insp. He has always been Insp Daya.

Abhijeet is Sr Insp since the Unknown Girl days, this is for sure. He looks at his own ID card and says 'Sr Insp - CID'. And he has been senior in rank to both - Daya and Asha.

I have not heard Asha calling Daya by his name, or maybe I didn't pay attention to it. Asha joined CID before Daya, so maybe during the initial days it was like that. Ashwini was already an established actress, but Dayanand sir was a debutant.

Gradually, Daya became a permanent, integral part of CID. Around the time Abhijeet joined, they might have got this idea of showing a nice friendship among our duo rather than be too official. So, Daya got promoted and Asha started addressing him as 'sir'. It would be awkward to have Daya 2 designations below Abhijeet and have a lady cop in-between.

Then there was Insp Michael. I don't know whether sub-inspector Daya used to address Insp Michael as 'sir'. To avoid confusion, Insp Michael was packed off and entered our Sub inspector Freddie with a moustache.

(But on one instance I heard Asha addressing Abhijeet by name and 'tum'. )

Actually that might be debatable, because there are 2 cases that have not been shown from the early ages of CID, one before the case in whch Asha was introduced and one after Asha was introduced.

Debayon...as far as my memory goes, I have seen episodes which had Asha, Michael, ACP, Viren and another tall guy. Even after Daya came in, I noticed that Asha was more active, not Daya.

And there was no grand introduction, really. We used to see random faces...they used to stay for a couple of episodes and vanish. Eg there's one slim guy in Stolen Gun. No idea who he was or for how many episodes he was there.

When Daya came in, I didn't pay attention, as I thought he was one of those random faces. Asha and Viren were more permanent and I used to notice them.

@ Visrom Di: Yes, that's why I said it's debatable. A very old and good friend of mine on these forums, Suchi Di, once had posted that Daya Sir's first case was The Case Of The Body in the Rice Fields or something like that.

I have a question: What happened to that person who was sent to the CID forensics lab last year to keep tabs on Dr. Salunkhe and Co? They made him disappear like he was never there without any reason, and neither did they explain why he was there.😕
