| Salaam Namaste CBians For starters, we've had many memeber who couldn't follow the complicated reasons behind why Radhika is married but unmarried. So for those poor souls who couldn't follow the show for lack of time or any reasons as such here is a summary of what has happened till now. | |||||||||||||||
| The show begins in a small town of Vrindavan. The Shashtri family is a well respected brahmin family in that area. Brij Mohan Shashtri is a priest. His family includes his wife Devki, their daughter Vishakha, his mother (Amma or Dadi), and their adopted daughter Radhika (the protagonist of the show). Radhika was found by Brij Mohan at the temple steps and though he and his wife have tried to make Radhika part of the family, Amma refuses to accept Radhika. Instead Amma treats Radhika like a servant of the house. Radhika is also discriminated against by the whole town as they don't know her parentage and what caste she belongs to. She is not allowed to perform pooja like her adopted brahmin family and she is often restricted from entering temples. But Radhika accepts this life grateful for having the Shashtri family. Radhika is a devotee of Krishna and she often day dreams about her "Kanha". She shares a unique relationship with this deity and has utmost faith. In this dreary of Radhiaka comes the Purohit family. Purohit family comes to their old house in Vrindavan in order to look for a bride for their younger son, Dev. Dev was living in the US and is called back to India because his parents want to see him married to a 'susheel' girl asap. The reason for the hurry is not revealed yet but its assumed that Dev's father is ill and wants to see his grandchildren soon. Purohit family consists of Dadi(Purohitji's mother), Purohitji, his wife Vaishali, their older son Vivek who is bound to a wheelchair, his wife Mrinalini who is frustrated about having a disabled husband, and Dev. The Purohit family also has an aide named Birju who is like part of the family and a best friend to Dev. On arriving at Vrindavan, Dev runs into Radhika at a Raasleela and its love at first sight for him. He runs into her at a few more places and decides that she will be his wife. Unfortunately whenever he tried to take her photograph or show Birju the girl of his dreams, Radhika disappears. So only Dev is aware of her face. Meanwhile, in the Shashtri family Brij Mohan starts to look for a groom for Vishakha as he senses that she is starting to tread the wrong path. Vishakha who's ambition is to become a popular actress in Mumbai runs away from home. However, Radhika brings her back and Vishakha is convinced by her "friend" Purab to go along with what her parents want till he is able to get her a gig. At this time Dev is misinformed by a local pandit-cum-marriage broker that the name of the girl he is in love with is Vishakha. Dev tells his family about wanting to marry "Vishakha" and his family fixes his marriage to Vishakha. Dev is not allowed to see his bride after the wedding is fixed so he doesn't realize the mistake. Radhika who had started to have feelings for the stranger she kept running into is devastated that he is getting married to her sister. Right on the wedding day Purab tells Vishakha that her appointment with a big producer is fixed and Vishakha asks Radhika to take her place inside the bridal wear and she would be back in one hour. Radhika reluctantly agrees for her parent's sake but Vishaka is too late. Devki and Amma who realize what Vishakha did are forced to send Radhika to the mandap to save their face. During the rituals Dev feels that the bride is reluctant and decides to have a talk with her before marrying her. He takes Radhika aside and tells her of the love in his heart and Radhika realizes that Dev has always wanted to marry her and not Vishakha. Radhika doesn't reveal herself to Dev but gets married to him happily. Vishakha is disappointed by the producer who tells herthat she needs money to back up her talent if she wants to be a successful actress. Purab gives her the idea that she should go back and marry Dev for his money and fulfil her dreams. But by the time Vishakha comes back the wedding is over. Still she goes to Radhika and demands her right. Amma who always supported Vishakha supports her this time too and brain washes Devki and Radhika into believing that the wedding rituals were symbolic and Radhika's marriage is not valid since Dev was under the impression that he is marrying Vishakha. Radhika is too shocked to react while Vishakha takes her out of the bridal outfit and goes to Dev's house as his bride. Radhika doesn't tell anyone of Dev's love for her and accepts the logic that Amma presented. Dev who realizes on the wedding night the mishap thats happened is unable to say anything to his family who are excited to finally have their choti bahu. However he keeps his distance from Vishaka while trying to find the girl whom he had fallen in love with. Birju who notices it chides him for it and Dev reveals the truth. However Birju claims that Dev's dream girl is just his imagination and he should live with reality that Vishakha is his wife. Dev is adamant in proving that he wasn't in love with an imaginary girl while Vishakha is trying her best to gather as much wealth as she can to help her in producing her own movie while also trying to hide the truth.
