Why, I loved Jhumpa's short stories better. She had a one-two punch when she wrote them and I enjoyed that style. I was not aware that she had a new book out. Need to check it out. I have all her books, though likely on friends' shelves somewhere!

Gardes, Challov, Why, Misti, Radev24 etc...(sorry couldn't get everyone's names in) you ladies are truly so knowledgeable and inspiring. Thank you all for your wonderful insight on the beautiful shloks and many other inspiring topics.

Is there anyway I can download these shlocks, especially the morning ones on my blackberry/iphone?

Once again thanks Gardes for creating this wonderful thread 😊 Look forward to your weekly updates😳

Gardes, I too like Jhumpa's short stories. I only read namesake and I found it not that engaging in some sense. It was really good in parts but somewhere the whole story did not move me the way her short stories did. I was skeptical about the movie based on that book. But Mira Nair did a good job with that especially as she concentrated on Tabu's part the most. Mira Nair has made some bad movies, but I liked her Monsoon wedding and Namesake.
I was not aware of her new book, but then saw a title by accident and read the review. I have not read a single book for last one and a half year. The correlation is with CB forum. The more time I spent on CB forum, the less I spent on other hobbies. In last two trips of India, I bought several books but have skimmed couple and rest are just lying on my bookshelf to be read one of these days. Previously, I would have read all of them by now.

Bani, welcome to the new forum. You used to be an active participant on the old forum until they brought that ONS track. It is really good to see old crowd back and now we can have better analysis of the show.

Angie are you talking about the Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri......it is good. Got some very poignant short stories. Her short stories are much better.

Thanks, Misti. That is the one I am talking about. I kept on thinking "Good Earth" and that was by Pearl Buck. Was too lazy to google for the proper name. I haven't read it but the reviews were good. Will try to read it sometime.

Funny, last night all this discussion led me to look for Jhumpa's titles and Unaccustomed Earth was the first one that caught my eye on the shelf and I thought of the stories within. Some of them are really poignant as Mishti mentioned and those are also the ones with a 1-2 punch when you hit the end of the story. I will definitely read it again. Wish you lived close by, Angie. I would trade books with you any time. You seem to have a good collection. Love reading and like you the forum has taken away opportunities to do that. BTW, Good Earth is one of my most favorite books of all times. I am catching up on (good!) Bolly movies I have missed over the years currently and surprisingly there are quite a few of them. Not all were bad!
Later folks!
