The Hindi GEC from Viacom 18 sets sight on the two new shows to fight competition in the primetime segment
Sohini Sen | Mumbai | November 19, 2013
Viacom 18s Hindi GEC, Colors, is all set to bring out two new shows this December. Beintehaa' and Rangrasiya' are the two soaps that the channel is betting on once their biggest property - Bigg Boss - finishes its current season next month. The promos for both the new shows are doing the rounds right now.
Beintehaa', starring Preetika Rao, is a passionate love story produced by Farhan Salruddin's Fortune Productions. It is currently being shot in exotic locales in Bhopal. Salruddin said about the leading lady, "The character required the innocence and vulnerability of a small town girl, yet with a certain strength and spunk. Preetika has all the required elements and hence we chose her for the role."
The other show, Rangrasiya', is set in Rajasthan and will be produced by Saurabh Tewari from Nautanki Films, who has a number of hit shows to his credit. According to sources, the show, starring Sanaya Irani and Ashish Sharma, is about a girl who believes in love and how her path crosses with a man who doesn't believe in it. The crew of Rang Rasiya has been shooting in the harsh desert terrains in the Rann of Kutch, as the show is a love story set along the borders of India.
According to sources, both shows will debut on December 30, 2013, replacing Bigg Boss. This would essentially pit the two shows against Star's Diya aur baat hum' and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' as well as Pavitra Rishta' and Qubool Hai on Zee TV, and Desh ki Beti - Nandini' and Jee Le Zara' on Sony.
What remains to be seen is whether the two shows will work as primetime fillers or will they actually gain popularity and become primetime success stories like Colors' other properties - Balika Vadhu', Madhubala' and Uttaran'.
At the time of filing this report, Colors spokespersons were not willing to divulge details on the two shows.

I really hope and wish that Ashish prove all his critics wrong by his stellar performance in RR. 😃 ⭐️
I am going to watch the story as it comes instead of hoping that it follows the Othello path..😳 Because honestly, Indian TV shows are forced to write according to their TRP demands..RR may be loosely inspired from Othello in some aspects.. But it would be hard to stick to its plot considering the TRP variations..But FOR NOW, I want a NEW PROMOOO ..!!! ☺️ (Not today or i wont be able to study 😳 🤣)
Colors channel is all set to replace Big Boss with 2 new telly serials "Rangrasiya" and "Beintehaa".
Almost a month left for Big Boss to get over, Colors has already announced the replacement. Two new fiction shows "Rangrasiya" and "Beintehaa" will be launched on 30th December, 2013 replacing Big Boss.
Sanaya Irani is all set to make her comeback as a dashing young Rajasthani Bride Parvati in COLORS upcoming show Rangrasiya. According to sources, the show is about a girl who believes in love and how her path crosses with a man, who doesn't believe in it. The crew of Rangrasiya has been shooting in the harsh desert terrains in the Rann of Kutch, as the show is a love story set along the borders of India.
Another show "Beintehaa" will see actor Amrita Rao's younger sister Preetika Rao playing the main lead. Titled Beintehaa, the show is a passionate love story and will be produced by Farhan Salaruddin's Fortune Productions. A film journalist by profession, Preetika had her own Bollywood column with South Side Movie Magazine in Chennai and in Bangalore which she contributed to from Mumbai. With Beintehaa on COLORS, Preetika marks her debut on television. She made her debut in Tamil cinema in December 2010, with the romantic film, Chikku Bukku', with Arya which also featured Shriya Saran. The crew is currently shooting across the exotic locales in Bhopal for the promos of the upcoming show.
