If STAR POWER was enough, then Bollywood superstars movie would never fail on Box office, and failure is part of every single actor, no one can escape that, if Mr. Bachcan, Aamir Khan and SRK couldn't escape it then there is no need to mention any other actors. It doesn't mean they are not popular anymore..

Sanaya's previous show which was for the most part in top 5 TRP rating, was called "Khushi" show in many houses because they connected with the character.
Again don't know how many people will know who Deepika Singh is, but chances of them knowing Sandhya are greater.

Yes, we need to wait to pass judgement as we did for QH and MB. As we know the latter also was on verge of being scrapped when it recovered.

Exactly. I asked this question coz most people were saying that this show was running on Sanaya's popularity. Am sure Sanaya herself will prefer her show ranking like DABH on IF but being top when trps come out

The only other thing I would add to that is that the advantage daily soaps have over films is that tracks and characters can be tweaked based on audience feedback.

So, the writers, directors and technicians work equally hard but actors walk away with maximum praise and popularity. They also get maximum ridicule when films/ shows fail.

Correction - the show revolves around Chhanchhan, a fictional character. Sanaya Irani plays the character, Chhanchhan.

Sanaya Irani is popular because of the characters she has played earlier, one of which was never a TRP topper either but was the first one to make her famous. That show and her character were so popular that her second lead show was touted as Gunjan's comeback show. Her second successful show as lead made her a household name but was never a TRP topper either, although it was in the top ten shows for most of its run. However it's international popularity was unparalleled for Star Plus. Just making the point that TRPs and popularity don't go hand in hand ... if they did, the top channels would not have voiced their discontent with TAM ratings and unsubscribed to the TAM service. Aamir Khan has gone on record to say that he does not believe in TRPs.

cz Sanaya being popular is a given. She is the most popular actress of her generation. that is a fact.

Why it does not co relate with TRPs is not something so mysterious.

Ask a random viewer of DABH and try asking if she knwos Deepika singh.. most likely her answer would be 'who is that?'

but ask any random viewer of IPK - and try asking - DO u know Sanaya - the answer would be of course..

Some actors rise above characters, they r thus the popular actors
Some characters r so popular that the actor is nothing but a face, another replacing them will not affect an iota - ex: previous TRPs topper Gopi bahu (i used to watch it till IPK happened to me n i dumped it, so i know a lot abt it)

u wait till DABH or YRKKH ends.. Akshara n Sandya will be the only role of those actresses.. they will not be known more than the characters they play.
thus they r never popular actors..they r only as popular as their characters while the ones like SI,BS,DD,KSG r popular actors..who mostly r not only associated with the character they play. replacing them n anything would not work cz in their cases people connect to them n not to characters...

if u came for a sane discussion n not just to diss San u would get the meaning of this post :)

this is a hindi show forum - it connects many people from different demographies. \

Some international fans who r not very fluent in hindi make mistakes when writing in hindi. My own hindi writing n reading skills r abysmal.. though i can understand n speak quite well..
some indian fans who may not be fluent in English might make mistakes in that..
that is no reason to pick on a language barrier :)

Popularity of an actor/ actress is not enough for high TRPs... and TRPs are not a measure of the popularity of the actors.

Sure she would prefer if her show was number one on TRP chart, which TV actor would think otherwise.

But there is a truth about Sanaya's popularity because a lot of people tuned in the first week because Sanaya was coming back after her incredible run in IPK as Khushi. It was because of Sanaya that this show got so much hype in online media and entertainment pages of newspapers during launch, it was also reported by an agency which measures buzz in media.

I myself watch this serial because I got introduced to her in IPK. I like her acting and watch this show. The first week TRP was 1.4 which is very good for a SONY show competing with DABH. A popular actor can only bring the initial draw. This is the same for the top Bollywood actors, otherwise no popular actor will have a dud.

Even now a lot of people, if not all, are tuning in either regularly or sporadically to see Sanaya, as she is the most visible actor on the show apart from Supriya ji.

However, for the long run the show has to hook audience with a interesting screenplay and good acting otherwise only hardcore fans will stick with it.

For final result we need to give Chhanchhan some time.
