You've made a valid point but obviously things don't work that way. If they did then the leads of the show that has ruled the trp's for the past year (I believe) would be the most popular actors in tellywood...and I think it's fairly safe to say that they're not. I don't watch or follow the show's/actors you mentioned but I don't think that even those shows went straight to the top of the trp charts (if they have even now). Their trps also go up and down depending on the storyline -I only know this from their fans comments when the trps go down. Sanaya drew in a decent trp for the initial week (I believe it was 1.4 for the week and 1.7 for the first day) but then it was upto the show's creatives to support that, which they were unable to do. A decent male lead may also have helped to keep some interest and there were a lot of Sanaya fans who were giving the show a chance for her but stopped watching because they couldn't stand the male lead.A vast majority of Sanaya's fans didn't like the genre so chose not to watch and the show itself hasn't catered to the hardcore saas-bahu audience either as there are no screaming saasu-maa's and cowering bahu's. Sony shows tend to be a little different and have a niche audience, with their most successful show having a trp of around 1.4 which on many channels would have it headed for shut down. Yet this show has people like Lata Mangashgar and Amitabh Bachchan in it's followers. list. Then again Sanaya fans also tend to watch the show online and don't form part of the trp viewing audience. I got Sony just for Sanaya but as I live in the UK my viewing doesn't add to the trp's. Their are a lot of factors which i don't even begin to understand that affect trp's and they don't necessarily relate to the popularity of the lead.
