Ehsaan tera hoga mujhpar, dil chahta hai woh kehne do

mujhe tumse mohabbat ho gayi hai, mujhe palkon hi chhaon mein rehne do

tumne mujhko hansna sikhaya, rone kahoge ro lenge ab

aansoo ka hamare gham na karo, ye behte hain toh behne do

chahe bana do chahe mita do, mar bhi gaye toh denge duayein

ud udke kahegi khaak sanam, ye dard-e-mohabbat sehne do mujhe

ehsaan tera hoga mujhpar

Junglee (1961), Music: Shankar Jaikishen, Lyrics: Hasrat Jaipuri

This song had two versions by Rafi and Lata, though I have a slight preference for Rafi's version. He sings this song with so much feeling. The slight dip in his voice when he sings "mujhe tumse mohabbat ho gayi hai" ! It sounds so romantic! Goosebumps! Plus, this raag Yaman is so divine. Every song in this raag simply hits differently! Right in the feels! ❤️

Add to that Shammi Kapoor on screen in what established him as a huge star, though he had reinvented himself with 'Tumsa nahi dekha', Junglee was the one that firmly entrenched him into stardom and there was no looking back for him. Rafi and Shammi Kapoor are an unbeatable combination. No wonder Shammi refused to let anyone else sing for him!

Beautiful song! ❤️

Raat Akeli Hai, from one of S.D. Burman's top albums, Jewel Thief. :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zu5RqqDRX2g

Raat akeli hai,

bujh gaye diye

Aake mere paas,

kaano mein mere

Jo bhi chaahe kahiye

Jo bhi chaahe kahiye

Raat akeli hai,

bujh gaye diye

Aake mere paas,

kaano mein mere

Jo bhi chaahe kahiye

Jo bhi chaahe kahiye

Raat akeli hai

Tum aaj mere liye ruk jaao

Rut bhi hai,

fursat bhi hai

Tumhein na ho na sahi

Mujhe tumse muhabbat hai

Tum aaj mere liye ruk jaao

Rut bhi hai,

fursat bhi hai

Tumhein na ho na sahi

Mujhe tumse muhabbat hai

Muhabbat ki ijaazat hai

To chup kyon rahiye

Jo bhi chaahe kahiye

When we were kids, we me and my brother used to enjoy this song with childish glee. 😆🤣🤪

Enjoy the weekend friends. 🤗

Super Hit Song from Half Ticket (1962), a Classic Comedy Movie , starring Kishore Kumar and Madhubala. Music: Salil Chowdhary, Director: Kalidas, Singers---- Lata & Kishore Kumar. Do you know? Kishore Kumar used to take 1 rupee less than Lata's fees, with due respect to that legendary singer. 😊

One of the very few songs of Helen I like!

Song: Guzra Hua Zamana Movie:Shirin Farhad Released 1956 Singer : Lata Mangeshkar Music Director: S. Mohinder Lyricist: Tanveer Naqvi

Beautiful lyrics by Tanvir Naqvi and music by S Mohinder. Soulful rendition by none other than swar samragyi Lata Mangeshkar. Present day filmmakers cannot even in their dreams think of such soul wrenching melody.

The night, this tempting season... sea shore, the brisk breeze ...Ravi’s song-- Yeh Raate yeh mausam in Dilli ka thug sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle, lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri.

He starts the song , but she takes up the song’s melody, and he springs up to meet her, walking to her as he repeats the invocation to the night breeze, to the moon shining down on them, whose pale rays are reflected on the sands of the riverside. The magic can begin. How many times have lovers, in the history of the world, sung the time, the place, the hour of their love? How many have done so, knowing they were creating an everlasting memento to a past they would relish to revisit, which they knew was fleeting, should be tasted at its full, and yet represented an immortal present !!

The creation of love asks nothing from anything else in the world but its own passionate tenderness, its own words, its own renewal in the eyes of the beloved. Its eternity belongs to the abolition of time while it is being created, celebrated and devoured.

Look at that fleeting moment when her half-cross disposition has just melted away and she starts to sing the tune, closing her eyes to the melody and slowly opening them on the man she has finally recognized as a passionate and lovable human being!! This smile is as caressing and sweet as any lover would want his angel beauty to smile! A highly expressive romantic song!

OMG! I love 'Ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si'! ❤️

In fact, I think SD Burman excelled himself with the songs of CKNG. They were zany and hummable, a rare combination!

And the choreography! It's amazing! How Kishoreda uses the tools as props, doing puppet dances with them, or using them as musical instruments. And the backwards staircase descent!

Everything about this song is just wow, Madhubala included of course. The little sneeze she blocks is sooo cute!

Thank you for posting this! ❤️

And I agree with you about 'Ehsaan tera hoga'. Shammi is subdued in a most unusual way in this one (a rare occurrence for him, he's normally known for his more exuberant moves! 😆), and his expressions are heart-warming and oh so romantic!

'Woh ek nigaah kya mili' is truly a gem of a composition by Salida. He uses a European folksy tune here, which is reflected in the choreography as well with the Russian Cossack dance on stage! ❤️

Helen looks so pretty in this! Lata trills like a bird singing impossibly high notes that are almost operatic, while Kishoreda supports her admirably. Salilda did not have too much faith in Kishoreda's singing, and was known to refer to him as 'Shor Kumar' (I'm trying to find a reference for this, but am not able to so if someone can support this fact, I'd be grateful!). But KK proved him wrong on this soundtrack, especially with 'Aake seedhi lagi' in which he sings both for himself (in a female voice because of his onscreen get up) and for Pran (in his normal voice) which is somehow hilarious to me!

'Guzra hua zamana' is a beautifully poignant tune!

And 'Ye raatein, ye mausam' has that waltzy romantic feel to it that just makes you want to sway and lose yourself in the moment! It's testament to how lovers feel one with nature and how the elements of nature (raat, chand, chandni, mausam, nadi ka kinara, chanchal hawa) all lend themselves to the expression of love in the most charming way! A lilting composition exquisitely rendered by KK and Asha. ❤️
