Bumped into means that he was there for a different purpose and just happened to meet. Like if he was staying in the same or nearby hotel and happened to meet by chance. That's a possibility and he may have then be given an invitation to the bday dinner.
If he is dating R, I think he would have taken her out privately and not sat with rest of MHK crew and introduce himself as R's bf to Kangana and R. Rao especially if they just started dating .

Exactly. So that means he was there for something else n not the movie. And if there is any truth to sha-R rumours then not necessarily would he meet her with mhk cast right. He may have met her earlier n then went for dinner with the team. I'm not saying he went there for R, honestly I don't know but the point is that even if he took her out privately, we wouldn't know unless he wants us to. Had he clarified things, we wouldn't be breaking our heads here😆
