Ecri I do have a snarky tongue !! but what to do when people insist on getting compliments like this 😡

portraying Chandini as forgiving I can understand, her heart is as wide as all the oceans put together but to show her dressing up like that 🤢 don't they realise there target audiences? Did they forget their own press conference comments on what sought of a character chandini is?

The makeup was so 🤢 Period!! In no angle did ST look nice. She's a pretty girl why work so hard to make her look bad 😕

Sobti was looking so tired 😭 I felt more annoyed for making the fella go through this torture, only good thing he gets a pay check!!

Even the most logical person on the planet too will want a sapnon Ki Duniya to indulge in to let go and relax. Different people have different views and tastes but bottom line is whatever be the show, the viewer does expect to connect to the characters.

Ipk1 for that matter as weird as the whole Arnav versus Khushi fandom was and still is 😆 beyond the actors it's the characters they played that evokes such extreme emotions inside people's hearts. Some saw traces of their father brother or husband in Arnav some saw themselves or their close ones in Khushi. The writers did a fantastic job of creating the characters, fleshed them out so well even today if I see a scene from the show it makes me cry and smile 😳 That's how powerful entertainment industry is.

It's disappointing to see that the maker who has been part of this industry failed to utilise things to their favour instead the use of background tunes cut copy paste scenes all just made people go back and praise and compare this season with previous season 😆 I heard Indonesia has given s1 and the leads best show, actor and actress awards.

Wonder what salve will Gul put on her burns 🤣

@bold Benna agree on IPK1, but just so that we are clear IPK1 was a JV between 4 Lion Films and Panglosean pictures so the workmanship was very good.

Plus 4 Lions had Nissar Parvez whose like the beacon light to them all. With him gone, the magic is missing.

AND the writers, Ved Raj, Sudhir Kumar, Janaki V, Barry Dhillon, GH, Hitesh Kewalya, Ritesh Shah and Shweta Bharadwaj were a never seen before team who brainstormed and worked on the script. So hoping the magic would be back once again with IPK3 was a wrong notion to begin with.

Like I said, the stakes were high and the returns unknown. But if people feel that by replacing IPK1 with IPK3 on SEO is a hit, then I guess people really need to look into the facts because so far, the mark of the show is very miniscule. Agreed the show got a lot of backlash, but then since the time show has gone on air, it has not done much to catapult the viewers in.

Anyway, the fact is IPK1 was epic and epics are not redone. Period.

Ecri,

The rape incidents make me go numb. I can write 100 bullet points about what's wrong in the system and us, but the list can never be complete I guess.

Sometime back I read this story of a lady getting a call from her daughter's school. On reaching school, she saw her daughter and her wounded classmate. The teacher complained about the daughter being violent n all. Instead of coming into a conclusion and pointing finger at her daughter, the mother chose to hear the story from her POV. The daughter explained how the boy tried to pull her uniform or something similar and since it was not the first time, she had given it back to him. The mom asked the school if they had called the boy's parents as well, but as usual the school had not even considered this the boy's mistake so the mom gave it back to the school and explained why it is important for all of us to be aware of cases like these. If not stopped today, they can go on to become the molesters, the country frets about today.

Changing the system is not really in our hands, but it will certainly be helpful if we all can make our kids more aware and the repercussions of a crime like rape. The sex education also has a part to play. When I was in my teens, my mom would spend a lot of time explaining stuff to me and the importance of experiencing everything at the right time, in a right way.

Ranjitha

This was a case of teenagers when a boy during a bet had pulled at the girl's bra strap. And the male teacher had taken offence of the complaint from the girl and twisted the story.

The mother had stood up to that and asked the teacher how he would feel if she played with his fly.

I wish people learnt to take care off their girls.

Sex eductaion is a must, yes.

yes Chandni's characterisation is pathetic. ST was expressionless in some scenes, imo.

good Lord this girl is something 😆 👏 I feel for you chandini oh chandini 😉 where'll we go and get healing after all the auditory and visual torture?

Ecri s1 had lots of people other than a wannabe Ian Fleming ? 😆 That explains the difference 😳 now no more comparisons 😉

Sex education begins first at home then in schools and colleges. The day parents and teachers decide to be open to kids about a sensitive issue instead of treating it as a taboo half the problems gets resolved!!

It's been so nice here ecri and rest of you guys 😳 Good night.

Hindutva would not have backfired at all if they could get a reasonable writer. Sorry, this writer whatever his or her name may be has no idea of Hindu customs and rituals. Allahabad is not just a random city. It has a strong cultural background which the show failed to show us. In sharp contrast, RKC didn't miss the chance to tell us why Benaras is Benares andwhy Anami takes pride in calling herself a Benarasi.I didnt find anything so Allahabadi in the people of Allahabad. Its just that Gul and her team found Hindutva a new and fancy word. Bander ke hath ustara de diya Sp walo ne.

The temple secret was so poorly written that the makers should be thankful that the Hindu fanatics didnt break their sets for such poor portrayal. They should sincerely thank poor viewership for this.

1) All Hindu temples are governed by the Government although they have their own trust. Khazana if any shall never go to the Priest

2) One who is physically or mentally unfit cannot hold the post of priest as per the Hindu custom

3)Mantra uccharan can be a ritual but dwars however divya they may be do not open with them. There is a resson why locks were invented.

4) Lets think their way and lets believe dwar opens every 16 years and the priest is entitled to have the treasure but why did the previous Mahants didnt empty whatever treasure was there? Or the treasure multiplies itself every sixteen years?

5) How did Indrani take over Dev's ancestral house? The house is too lavish for Mahant family or even for Dev's father unless the temple is paying for it. May be the king who built it had attached a quarter for the Mahant also. The house however is not very old and by that logic Indrani could have never mortgaged it at all.

6) All the rasams before marriage were LOL.

7) Hindus from different communities wear different colours for marriage, red being the most popular . Some wear white traditionally and the modern brides prefer peach, beige or golden. Nowhere in this world and may be beyond wears black. Even in Mumbai, Mata's chowki was attended in black. This is a Mahant's family btw.

8) The whole saavan ka mahina and no rituals or customs. Its like Mahant has been appointed to do rituals once in 16 years.

Bang on. 👏

This was mocking hindutva. Would it be ok if they showed such mockery of any other religion?
There has to be liberty in creativity. But to what extent? There has always been a war for the throne of Mahant and most of those wars happen in the court room. None of it happens on the street.

I have not heard of any temple whose doors are closed for 16 years.
I am yet to see Mahant and his family wearing such outrageous clothes and jewellery in public. They are the priests and are supposed to be living simple and pious lives. They can not follow Paris fashion in public. Most of the Mahants kids are well educated and double educated. Unlike the shat pratishat Vashisht that they have shown.

Will not say anything about that Bahubaali act. For me the show is pre ASR(Mumbai) and in Allahabad, Any thing that happens post ASR stage does not relate to pre ASR stage.

Ranjitha - Here is the link to an old article. It is not just one reason it is the system that needs to be taken care off.
For a starter if every mother can ask their sons to respect women. Again kids learn what they see. When the father of that kid does not respect his own sister, mother or wife how can he learn that? Movies objectify woman as sex symbol. Most important the word NO means NO if that is learnt by most then things will be better.
When the kids can smoke and chew tobacco at early age, drink without any fear at the tender age and most important have no sex education what can one expect? Teasing girl at the cross road since childhood since those kids do not have place to steam of their energy. Kids are not much interested in physical education or sports. I have three schools around in my neighbourhood yet I donot see students outside their school hanging out during recess or after school. You will see most of them either in gym or play ground. This rule applies to the High schooler as well. At the most you see them in coffee joint around but no one sits outside for hours doing nothing. I have seen kids in India sitting on their two wheelers outside the gates of the school doing nothing and as they say empty mind is devil's workshop.

You were in grade 7 😲 when SBKBT was released. I have not seen that show so can not comment on it. Just the news about that show were too much to behold.

Ecri - of all the shows that you mentioned I just remember Hasratein. I watched it here and there episodes. My father was strict and would say "Dimaag bigadnewali serial hain"😆 Watched mainly the part after Shefali Chhaya (Back then she was married to Harsh) was there.
Rest of the shows that you mentioned I don't remember watching them.

Benna - IPK 1 was not just Arnav or Khushi. I think it was more than that. Audience well connected to each and every character. There was too much goodness in the show. The ever positive characters of Raizada mansion was a A+++. Anjali was physically challenged yet she was relatable. Not some deceiving, manipulative sister. Mami was loud yet was loving and her love for her chote was exemplary. Buaji too with his hai re nandkishore was good character. The show had humour, angst, love, hate, soft music, etc etc etc. To top it up the chemistry was exemplary. ASR with all his angst and hate was relatable since he had that introspection. Khushi although uneducated had that inner strength and positivity. She cried but her crying was not cringeworthy. She gave back yet her giving back can not be considered as her ego. She came back to Raizada mansion but it was more due to luck then due to her needs. Even La was a well written character. She is one of those other woman whom you will not hate. Those Rabba ves were to die for.
I don't think any one should compare IPK 1 to 3. I have not watched IPK2 so can not say anything about it.
As far as 4 lions go. I watched Humsafars and Tanhaiyan. Tanhaiyaan as i said was cliched and HS🤢

Bhavi,
You have explained it so well. The idea of respecting people, irrespective of their cast, creed and ofc GENDER has always been challenging. Have you watched pink? A scene in that movie shook me hard. We have well educated boys, who have immense respect for their moms, sisters and bhabhis and yet treat other women as shit. Some people are brought up in such a strict atmosphere that they end up breaking every rule, just to please their rebellious nature.

But the biggest and most common problem I have seen around me is the attitude of the parents who think SONS are bhagwan ki den and their BAHUS and BETIS are always the second priority. When they bring up their kids with such attitude, there is no way the kids will learn to respect women.

A personal experience: Back in 2013, my FIL's friend had come home for dinner. While they were about to leave, my MIL signaled us to take blessings from him. His ashirwad was 'ghar mein ladka aajaye'. Usually I don't get into arguments with strangers, but that day I could not take it and gave it back to him, much to the surprise of my in-laws. He listed 10 points as to why sons are better than daughters and how he thought his extremely successful physician daughter had failed as a wife since she chose to NOT dedicate her life for her husband and kids. These are well educated people of our society.

The documentary on Nirbhaya, which was probably banned by Indian Government was so hard hitting that it had taken me a week to get over it. More than the details about rape, it was the attitude of the rapists and the lawyers that had upset me.

My mom always tells me that our generation was the last one to grow up playing with friends, with basic amenities and joint families. While I don't agree with her on the join family point, I do get what she means by that. The generation that your kids are in is probably trickier. Do you feel the same?

IPK1:
Every weekend, I watch 5 episodes of IPK1. Clear story telling, subtle dialogues, 90% positive people and brilliant ensemble cast 👏 There is no way IPK3 can even come close to it.
