Three reasons it might go the Ayaan losing way :

- Story has to go on till October. If Maya loses now and her (fake) attempt to rape (Btw, remind me didn't the inspector just mention it's a 'rape case?' HOW did it go from Maya saying attempt to rape to rape? 😲 Isn't there a WORLD of difference between the two allegations?), a huge part of her games are out. The rest of the world wouldn't believe anything she ever says or does.

- Vandana's shraap has to play out some way or the other.

- Maya's character development.

Yeah, it didn't which could mean that he didn't do it on purpose but they happened accidentally. (Still an idiot for not stopping when it did)

Wouldn't Maya's case be stronger if she accused Ayaan of only the attempt, which the CCTV's will prove? But her words to Arjun seemed to indicate that she wants him to believe it wasn't just an attempt.

Arjun would still be upset with Ayaan either way.

I wonder whose side Samay is on. He was present when Ayaan was telling everything to Saanjh. I guess ideally, a lawyer should talk to the client without involving anyone else. If Samay is going to secretly support Maya then making him privy to all the details would be a bad idea.

I wish Maya doesn't end up winning this case. But if they want to keep continuing Maya's games, I guess that is what will happen.

Something about the episode wasn't adding up to me. Arjun's responses were too perfect. too precise and modeled for Maya. Which means it can be either of these two.

THEORY ONE:
Arjun in all actuality believes Maya. Now Maya knows the chink in his armor. She knows all his vices. Ego. self-importance. She conditioned her sentences exactly along those lines.
'meri nahi tumhaari izzat pe haath daala.'
'tumne aisa hone kaise diya?'
'tumne bataya use humare baare mein.'
'tum.'
'mere pyaar ki itni bari saza?'
She very successfully guilt-tripped Arjun-one master stroke after another-and Arjun drowned in the cesspool.
He was engulfed in hatred, in self-loathing, in disgust, in shame. It was because of him, because of his words, that Ayan ended up committing such a crime. He too is to blame for this. How could Ayan do this? How could've he let this be done?
Every emotion--guilt, self-loathing, disgust, shock, agony, sorrow--took one shape. Anger. and the need to avenge not just Maya but himself--his character, his deeds--came to forefront.
The confrontation in the police station was an eruption of these volatile emotions and his guilt. Every word pointed at Ayan and himself.
He'd go any lengths to right what has been wronged. What he has wronged. What has been wronged because of him.
He'd protect Maya with his life now.
But in reality his guilt.

THEORY TWO:
I like this one more.😆
Arjun obviously knows the extent of Maya's madness. She's not a normal woman. She can go to ANY lengths to keep him. ANY LENGTH. Arjun also knows Ayan in and out.
And he has realized that going back to his family was his biggest mistake. Because he dragged them into the poisonous waters of his life but more than any of it he dragged them into the lair of Maya. Maya who would destroy them all. He also knows how unpredictable and brilliant Maya is when she wants something. There's no winning from her.
So he chooses to support her. Because if he supports Ayan openly Maya will make sure Ayan doesn't survive this. But if he shows he's supporting Maya not only can he secretly help Ayan but he can make sure his family's safe.
By going to the police station and flinging those hurtful words he may have also been aiming for Sharma family and Saanjh's utter disgust. He wants them to hate him and distance themselves from him and never look his way again so Maya can never harm any of them again. And what better way than fling the worst words possible?
He then goes back and says exactly the kind of words Maya wants to hear. He appeases her, placates her, gives her precisely what she wants.

The one big thing that will play out in both scenarios is Vandana's 'curse'.
He will be alone and suffering until he's with Maya and he will be with her for a long time. Will he make this choice willingly to protect his family? or will he make it in haste and under an illusion?
Another thing to see are the possible outcomes.
If Arjun is playing a double game and he helps save Ayan, Maya will come to know of it at som point. And he will also be distanced from Sharma family.
This can then go the GG way with Maya--offended and betrayed--pulling up her sleeve and taking the game in a new direction and Saanjh realizing something's wrong and coming to his rescue--fulfilling that prophecy too.

If Arjun's supporting her in all truth -- he will obviously find the truth at some point and on that point he'd be trapped alone and stuck with her. But will the rest come to help him that easily then? he'd also seek to help/talk to/ask for forgiveness from Ayan and save him somehow. It will again get into another courtdrama but still centered around Ayan or Arjun and saanjh teaming up to expose Maya.

I prefer the upper outcome ^^

Or Ayan will be saved and Arjun will find the truth and then we'll be back to square 1 with Arjun guilty of not supporting his family, away from them, Maya in control. etcc.. it's getting back to where s2 started from.

Also the Samay angle and how he will play out in all of this.
