Nice song selection Sush! I want to watch something as well and may look into House of Cards if I have some time.
Indra - My munchin is now over 2 years old. time flies! These days everyone asks if I am thinking about having a second 😕😆 I cannot handle having 1 and if the second one is anything like my daughter we are in big trouble. She is so bossy and independent. I cannot even force her to eat something if she has categorically said no to it already.
Chick - I finished watching Humsafar and I liked it a lot as well. It was quite a dark soap story but I thought it was quite well done. I now see why people say that you cannot enjoy desi soaps if you watch Pakistani shows. They are so well written and less drama quotient than desi soaps 😆
UK is debating whether they want to stay in EU or not. People of UK will vote for the referendum in June but the repercussions of EU exit will not be good for the UK economy. Its unfortunate that people just tend to focus on the negatives of the immigration movement but not on the positives. GBP has taken a massive hit against the EURO and Dollar amid uncertainty about a possible British exit from the EU. If that does happen, Scotland will vote again for being an independent nation as that is one of the primary reasons people of Scotland voted to stay part of Great Britain 😕 The repercussions of EU exit will be far reaching than people understand.
In India, Jat community protesters demanding more government jobs seized the Munak canal, the city's main water source on Friday. Sixteen people have been killed and hundreds hurt in three days of riots.
Ri, Chick - what do you guys think about these protests? I thought the quota system was made so lower caste communities could get access to jobs. Jats are generally affluent community and upper caste. Why are they protesting?

Hola G,
You'll see how your views will change with the second kid...😛. Everyone I know, including myself stressed more about what their kid is eating or not eating it's the first one...with the second one...it is like you have a different view of the world...😆I think it is good to have the second one while the first one is still young...You kind of get done with them being young at the same time...It is also great for the kid to have a sibling of similar age at home...

I watched a few episodes of Humsafar...it was really good...I agree...Paki shows are crisp in writing...I think mainly because of limited episode concept...India used to have those too...not sure why we moved away...so much that there is nothing left of similar kind...

I have been hearing about the UK discussion of being in EU or not...what are factors driving the desire to exit? Would love to hear your view on that...

India and its quota system completely suck...That's one reason I and many other people left the country...if you are not from one of those minority classes that get the benefit of the quota...the opportunities are very limited...at least they were...I think political parties have been using the quota system as candy to buy votes ...it is despicable...

Hey it is quite a circus here with the elections...Trump is likely going to be the Republican nominee...I think I was right in predicting that even a fight with the pope can not make a dent on his support...and it didn't...

Apple and FBI fight on privacy issue is another one...that is catching a lot of interest...I don't think Tim Cook is going to win this one...Lets see...How is this being viewed in the UK???

G,

Not entirely sure where the Jats belong in the caste system.

From Wiki: The Constitution of India states in article 16(4): "Nothing in [article 16] or in clause (2) of article 29 shall prevent the State from making any special provision for the advancement of any socially and educationally backward classes of citizens or for the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes."[15] Article 46 of the Constitution states that "The State shall promote with special care the educational and economic interests of the weaker sections of the people, and, in particular, of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes, and shall protect them from social injustice and all forms of exploitation.

So long as it benefits the needy, I am not opposed to it. But I am not sure how this reservation will continue to help the country's growth. I feel they should have made it like a 50 or 75 or even 100 year plan, by when the benefits of the reservation should have uplifted the backward people. Right now, it appears like the children of people who have earned a good position thanks to the reservations continue to benefit. Probably they should have added a clause that only one generation from a family would be considered. Apart from that, I have seen that this has led to stagnation in many of the premier government education institutions. Plus the stigma borne by the students who have benefited who could have actually made it without the quota system too. So, on the whole I feel they have to have some time limit by when they'll put an end to this- which is never going to happen anyway. We'll just have to learn to live with it and call it democracy.

As for the current problem...beats me why we should allow people to hold an entire city to ransom and get away with it! In what way is this different from terrorism?

If I don't stop reading the paper and watching the news, I think I'll very soon die of hypertension. 😆

I think the paki Humsafar is still a lot better in most Indian shows. It focused a lot on the concept of poetic justice though they could have avoided the suicide. That is not a message to send to an audience if you lose your lover give up on life. The male lead was easily fooled and not to mention to insecure and egotistic. But I felt the female lead had more pride than many indian ones too. Especially in the beginning when she showed the least bit of interest in the male lead who considered himself superior to her. I guess its hard to get everything right in show. But it had coherent concepts and themes expressed because it was planned. Something that is lacking in a lot of Indian shows is coherency because they basically jump all over the place for ratings.

On a different note, I think Obama might need help in appointing a justice.

I fully agree with your read Chick! Its like they wrote the rules without much thought to long term consequences, potential abuse by politicians and the beneficiaries, and without limits. Like I said once ...The road to hell is paved with good intentions...This is another example...😕

Hello all
RIP - Harper Lee.

Hope all are having wonderful February.

Did you had a chance to look out and watch a full moon and Jupiter close to each other yesterday? We were lucky with no cloud cover. It was spectacular. Especially during moon rise and moon set.

Good news we had a very short winter this year. The weather is almost like spring since the new year. Even if it snows now it will not stay on ground for long in March. Although i have seen a 20 cm snow fall in late March. Yet until that time I am enjoying the sunny period. 😃

Jay - How are you doing? The song selection that you think goes with CC😕 are you referring to people calling people as to in Man bawara?

Shahrukh's interview- Despite i am not big fan of him there is one thing which i like about him and that is he is one entrepreneur, His vision to earn money is beyond him. The diversification that he has done is amazing. 👏 👏 I wish he still looked like Abhi of Fauji That is the man I guess most of India fell in love with. He was probably the first lead who did the anti hero roll.

Reservation - Is more to do with divide and rule policy by politicians. There was a time when being in reservation was considered a taboo and now people wants to be in that category😲😆. This is what i call it as the game changer. If you can not beat the system be the part of it.

G- I too agree with most its better to have other kid if you are planning for one when the elder one is young. The less the age difference better for parents. You will be in pain for the 10 years of life rather than 15 -20 years😆 depending on the age difference between two kids. The first kid is always pampered. Like Sush said the second one will be easier for you. There is no set rule though. Its also easier on career. Once the kids grow you can concentrate on career.

JNU and Flag This is more of the media issue. Media making a mole out of mountain of every little things.
