And you know how they've achieved this ambiguous jump to this current relaxed coupley situation? By SEVERELY dumbing down Nandu...the Nandu who QUESTIONED and CALLED OUT Manik for his vague contradictory talks is now more or less this vapid being turned on by the word HOPE😆...like she is just not interested in anything beyond him coming back to her, their hope winning...aage peechhe woh jo bhi bole, doesn't matter to her...her identity literally has squeezed down to "fusion concert will be our day"😆...the fusion concert for which btw Manik had originally simply said if we manage to sing together, then we have HOPE of possibly being together...matlab this is what Nandu has come down to...just the POSSIBILITY is enough for her to by flying😕...as if Manik is doing some ehsaan on her.

And I found it random yesterday also how she was shouting at him for showing up late...transition was totally lost there from the time the phone call was cut to him showing up...yeah they were trying to be all cute fighting about it but that was random...as was his bhoot imitation😕...scene picked up after the seeds bit and her instant "crocodile" tears as he called them😆

Ultimately the WHY of it all remains...they've made the whole conflict redundant now cuz they've moved on to mellowness without resolution...I do see that they are trying to shift the whole thing to the fallout of the Pandit track now whatever that will be but the fact remains that the momentum for the v-day resolution is lost in many ways...unless Manik will do some "big speech" the day of the fusion concert to sum up the whole story.

Oh well I guess we can be thankful that for now atleast they've pulled the threads all back to one thing...the Pandit/fusion concert track...with tadka of Dhruv -Fab5 issues on the side.

@bold: Now you see why I just never stop cribbing about this hope-hate game. Manik coming up with something utterly stupid like this for whatever reasons is par of the course, but Nandini just meekly ACCEPTING the possibility of a relationship with conditions attached to it was so OOC that I've just never been able to reconcile it. Not even getting into how this whole thing has now become such a big deal between them and pretty much the centre-point of her existence, like you said.
I'd still have accepted it if they'd related this behaviour to her realisation that she loves him- that would still have been feasible enough because this girl will do anything for those she loves. Par uss department mein bhi total amnesia. 😆 Now if you miss cues like this to explain her behaviour, the audience is bound to get confused.
I don't think they've dumbed her down per se, this vapid behaviour can be explained if you think just how much stress she has been under since Musicana- it's been like one battle after another for her, and now things have just come to a head with the V-day breakup and the Pandit. So she's under pressure to leave him, almost dies, and is immediately thrown into the Soha-murder dilemma after that and then the courtroom drama and breakup happens, then she's thrown out of college. Matlab it's like an avalanche of traumatic incidents one after another, and yet except for crying or thinking about Manik, she does nothing else. We have no idea how all this affects her on an individual level- it all gets lost within the MaNan story for the most part. So now if you want to keep connecting to the character, you have to flounder for explanations instead of being able to say ki haan, aisa hua tha, Nandini reacted like this to it, so her strange behaviour now makes sense.

This whole track has been a sum-total of small moments between them which have carried through the transition, rather than that one high-point like NYE which brought about a change. But it all just got lost in the other shit going around. So while I like how they have set up this whole thing, on various other levels I'm dissatisfied too. 😆

I found her shouting at him rather cute. Abrupt, yes, but it was cute. 😆

I crushed on at least three of my profs, one of them a woman, during my years at uni. So yeah, I'd say it's totally okay. 😆

You're talking Genie speak with all that stuff about trauma and all😆

@bold: And that is what I mean by the lack of cohesiveness...THAT is why she looks vapid...the trauma and all explanations don't cut it when it comes to explaining the way she's coming across as vapid...when you don't bother showing more to her thought process than TING Manik said HOPE then obviously she will look DUMB only...they have more or less reduced her to a mime artist...automatic GRIN when Manik says HOPE and then automatic TEARS when Manik either teases her or disarms her with a sweet gesture...this girl used to be more than just a jumble of sudden emotions...where are her BRAINS?

@blue: That sums up my feelings too...I don't HATE this track...I can see the effort they've made to build things up but yes it's largely been lost in the jumble and khichdi they've made with throwing too many things in b/w...they NEED a high point now for the sake of CLARITY...

Re: shouting...if they'd bothered with just a LITTLE transition they could have made it much cuter...I couldn't connect...flow matters...as it is their thought processes are being kept vague enough in the storyline...at this point flow becomes everything then.

A woman too Vidya? Actually I feel you. My teacher in high school used to be so hot, I totally crushed on her. Almost every single guy in the school crushed on her.

It' should be okay right? We are just appreciating good looks. Nothing wrong.

Yeah well, I've ranted to Genie about this loads of times too, so it's bound to show up in the AT somehow. 😆

Objectively speaking, I just think that KY2 is better on paper than it is on-screen. That is a problem which has been created both by the extremely subjective nature of the writing, and the execution problems. It all ends up as lack of cohesiveness, and confuses the audience. So on a theoretical level I understand why Nandini is a mess of emotions, but when try to connect it to what we've been SHOWN, doesn't quite work because they didn't give it to us.
