OH. I love that book too! I actually- so my fifth grade teacher used it as an example for a book report, and I would read anything I got my hands on, so I read it in fifth grade and cried for days. I didn't realize what it was about at the time. I finished it though. And then I reread it recently. It's a great book.

I was horrified. My parents didn't realize until I started bawling when I finished and then they were like- Wait, something is seriously wrong here. But yeah- that was a terrifying experience. I've read it since and was less... scarred? I enjoyed it the second time I read it. Maybe because I understood it.

You know, i used to read all kinds of books at a very young age, but I dont think I wiuld like it if my daughter wanted to read that book now. Hypocrite!!!! Maybe...

LOL. I didn't read it intentionally- I thought it was a kids book, because my teacher was reading it, and she only showed us kids books until then. While it was a terrible experience- I think it's shaped me as a reader. I would not want my younger cousins to read it though. 😆
